I posted it elsewhere in this thread, but my Garmin VivoActive gets ~18 days of battery life, has an always-on colored screen, is very thin, and has GPS if you want it. There is a newer version with heart rate monitoring that I bought my dad, and he loves his.

I just used this stuff:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BXYWXY8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

to reassemble a Time Steel that I replaced the battery in. Worked great. It's probably not water proof anymore, but with two layers of it, it's probably at least splash resistant.

I peeled the previous double stick material off (it's actually pretty easy with just fingernails alone) and then placed one layer on the plastic gasket, and one layer on the underside of the screen. Getting the screen reconnected was a little tricky and required the use of a long thin metal tool, you might be okay with just a flathead screwdriver.

I personally didn't like a metallic band with the pebble, because all the watch vibrations cause the metal to buzz rather loudly. I don't have a red pebble, but I switched to a hadley roma silicone band and am very happy with it. Here's a red one, it's cheap, but look great and is very versatile. . http://www.amazon.com/Hadley-Roma-MS3344RQ-220-Genuine-Silicone/dp/B005EJG6S2/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1368724193&sr=8-15&keywords=hadley+roma+silicone+watchband

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XLVC6J4/ is the one I replaced my Time battery with when the old one was barely lasting a day. It was a really easy swap, no snipping or soldering as some of the other recommendations have.

HOWEVER after I first installed it I was not quite getting two days of use out of it. It's been suggested that I could have just gotten a bad battery or there may be an actual problem with my watch that it drains out faster than it should. After a little over 2 weeks of use it's actually gone up to 50 hours now, almost like the charge circuit needed to be retrained or something and will get better over time? I'm still experimenting with it. So while I can recommend it as being cheap and easy to install, I'm suspicious about the actual battery life. I've got another one coming in a few days and will try swapping that one in to see if it makes a difference.

But to answer the question: yes, swapping the battery is possible, just a question of what battery to use. After you've swapped it you need to reseal it which others have had success with some double sided foam tape, or my local jeweler says they can reseal watches for $20 which may be a more professional and trusted option.

If you have a Pebble Time or Time Steel, then I recommend the Truffol steel band: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0111I89LQ/

I bought the "gunmetal gray" version for my black Pebble Time Steel. It looks great, and it's very comfortable.

I had one but switched to a pebble 2 se. But when the 2se buttons broke I decided I would stick with pebble steels for the next few years and bought 6 more off ebay cheap with screen tearing issues. The screen tearing can be 100% fixed with the zebra strip replacement which I did to all of them.

I also stripped a number of screws removing them. Generally 1 of the 4 screws is really in there with thread locker. I ended up buying these things from Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000T9XPTK - Precision T4 screwdriver (to hopefully not strip the screw in the first place)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N07NN0K - Replacement screws (use the 1.4x2.8 ones)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N2YQ4Q4 - Easy out stripped screw remover (#0 will work, ideally something smaller would be better. The #0 just nicked the corner of the back when I used it. Just scratches the back a little near that screw hole.)

With the easy out you can drill/force them out. The replacement screw is then used since you destroy the original with the easy out.

I tried fixing screen tearing with the shim in the back fix but that doesn't work 100%. Pony up the $6-8 and buy 10 of the zebra strips off ebay. It's a permanent fix. I haven't had any button issues but I'm not a huge button user. I mainly just use the watch for notifications.

I did solder a new battery into one of them too. It's not as easy as the zebra strip replacement and I'm keeping the batteries around 50% and powered off (on the unused ones) along with rotating them through usage every month so hopefully I can preserve the batteries as long as possible.

I haven't done a repair like this myself, but from what I've read (see this thread), Sugru seems to have the best reputation for water-resistance and ease of use.

I ordered my Skinomi TechSkin off Amazon on Monday when I ordered my Pebble from Best Buy. Pebble will be in today, the skin on Monday. Will check back with a review (has very high praise on Amazon).

Check it out here - As of today it is still on sale for $6.95

u/Gawdzilla · 1 pointr/pebble

Other people really love GadgetWraps, but I grabbed these off of Amazon and have had a positive experience for the last 8+ months.

u/TheFonzieAy · 1 pointr/pebble

I just received it and have to give it a thumbs down. First off, the curved edge does not fit the PTR. I even did some modifications to make put the springbars in place, but didn't trust it enough to hold the watch securely.

Also, despite having a very nice clasp, the rest of the band is very cheaply made. I don't trust the quality.

I would love a curved edged band so it is flush against the watch, but I don't think I'll find one that will work. I'll go with a regular straight edge.

Back to Amazon.

I think I'll go with this one:

http://www.amazon.com/TRUMiRR-Stainless-Butterfly-Bracelet-Timepiece/dp/B01DDAHW6S/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1463186346&sr=8-13&keywords=Trumirr+20mm+silver+stainless+steel+watch+band

u/UpvotingJesus · 5 pointsr/pebble

I just got my PTR a few days ago and ordered a cheap ($11!) stainless steel band from Amazon. It showed up a few hours ago and the install and sizing took some patience, but I'm really happy with the results.

I haven't seen too many pictures of round Pebbles with metal bands... anyone else swap theirs yet?

u/carlowho · 1 pointr/pebble

If you decide to get one, I recommend the iLLumiShield

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HQOUND2/ref=pe_385040_121528360_TE_dp_1

It fits perfectly and so clear that you won't even notice that it's there

u/TheCopernicus · 1 pointr/pebble

If they use the same wristband as the regular Time, I'd recommend this one. I've been using it for a few weeks and love how it changes the whole look of the watch.

u/davijeong · 1 pointr/pebble

Amazon is slowly reducing the prices for all the models, sold by Pebble AFAIK.
I'm waiting for the Slver PTR to drop prices, and so far it's gone from U$169 to U$149. Still going to wait some more, but It's a pretty big deal for its rarity here in Brazil.

I picked up this one on Amazon last week. Can't speak to long-term, but it's comfortable and came with the tools to remove links and two pairs of replacement pins. $11

u/pullhardgofast · 3 pointsr/pebble

I use this screen protector: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HQOUND2/

I replace it about once every 2-3 months as the scratches build up.

As far as polishing Gorilla Glass, I am afraid you are out of luck. Nothing you can do will get you back to a satisfactory finish.

However, that screen protector has a light adhesive on the back that fills scratches out fairly well and they seems to disappear under it. You will still get scratches on the face of the protector though.

u/TimothyDahBomb · 3 pointsr/pebble

There was a listing for both the Gold and Silver polished rounds on Amazon US. I believe the Silvers are all gone but there still seems to be some Gold ones left. I payed US$129.99, however they are going for a bit more right now. (Still less than the US$200 Kickstarter price)
As far as I know, these Pebbles were manufactured for the Kickstarter rewards but were auctioned off to this Amazon seller when Fitbit bought most of the company.

u/ssublime23 · 1 pointr/pebble

I use this one with my red pebble and it looks and works great. http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B005EJG6S2

u/Hyeonmu · 5 pointsr/pebble

Loctite Clear Silicone Waterproof Sealant 2.7-Ounce Tube (908570) is what I used. Seemed to have sealed it well enough, or at least it hasn't sprung leaks. No extensive tests yet though. Might be too permanent for some, though https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002BBX3U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_T6syGaz5T144k

u/wampiter · 4 pointsr/pebble

I used: https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-Silicone-Waterproof-2-7-Ounce-908570/dp/B0002BBX3U/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1538682590&sr=8-4&keywords=silicone+sealant

There are plenty of other options, including a gorilla glue 100% silicone sealant for just $.40 more.

And yes, if anyone is planning to make a new run of these, let me know so I can explain where the 3D model falls short, and perhaps put you in touch with the 3DHubs vendor who made mine.

I recommend you to check out Amazon US. I live in Istanbul and bought a Pebble Time Steel Gold for $87+shipping a couple of days ago. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011VB1X6Q

u/dcormier · 7 pointsr/pebble

WASD, with MX Blues. Toxic keycaps.

I have this screen protector (though it didn't come as a 6-pack...). It's OK. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

u/eeweew · 2 pointsr/pebble

It is better to use this stuff, http://www.amazon.com/Eco-Fused-Adhesive-Sticker-Phone-Repair/dp/B00BXYWXY8

That is what was used in the first place. Remove the tape, place new, and compress.

u/Footba11Joe · 1 pointr/pebble

I got this one and think it looks good! Sorry for the link - I'm on mobile... https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00T96B32K/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/rajrdajr · 1 pointr/pebble

JDI developed the screen for Garmin and then they sold them to Pebble too. Check out Garmin's VivoActive HR (normally $250, marked down to $200 on Amazon for the holidays) if you're interested in an e-paper watch with an SDK (Garmin's ConnectIQ).

u/L0wPressu7e · 3 pointsr/pebble

It's original kickstarter one, I guess.

With the shipping cost I'd buy it for the price of new Apple Watch though... and there are new PTR for 110$ on amazon . So that you all know.

u/shiznit82 · 2 pointsr/pebble

Available now at Amazon shipping to US only. https://www.amazon.com/Pebble-Round-Polished-Smartwatch-601-00079/dp/B01NAJK1A1

Polished Silver is sold out at the moment.

u/jonathanp63 · 1 pointr/pebble

I bought a screen protector off Amazon last night. It's not the brand you suggested, though. Is this sufficient?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B11AWUU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_HNeZxbX3P5EVV

u/photographer_au · 1 pointr/pebble

Amazon has just listed the PTR Silver 20mm for AU$150.00 including shipping:

£100 on Amazon atm

I just paid £90 for mine (new), really enjoying it so far. Was going to hold out for the PTS2 but since there's nothing in concrete yet I made the jump.

No regrets :)

u/haggur · 1 pointr/pebble

Here you go (I got it slightly wrong: it was £69.98).

They've also got ordinary Pebble Times for £53.99 but I thought the extra £16 was worth it for the longer battery life.

u/Shawnj2 · 1 pointr/pebble

You only have scratches, not cracks, so you can hide them (at the slight cost of visibility) and protect the glass in the future by getting a wet install screen protector from IQ Shield or Gadgetwraps (or other manufacturers, but I know those 2 do it for sure)

Here's one I found https://www.amazon.com/Pebble-Protector-LiQuidSkin-Coverage-Anti-Bubble/dp/B01IDQ922O/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1T693L1VBW5OI&keywords=pebble+2+screen+protector&qid=1554573633&s=gateway&sprefix=pebble+2+scr%2Caps%2C188&sr=8-2

Dec 24 from Harold's Prairie

Edit: Amazon link. Listing only has Polished Gold in stock

u/slythy_toves · 1 pointr/pebble

I picked mine up at [Amazon] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B11AWUU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It comes today, so I can let you how it is later.

*Edit - it's the Skinomi one

u/charonpdx · 1 pointr/pebble

Not reliably. Amazon gets more stock every so often, not sure how: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NAJK1A1

Of course, there's always eBay.
