It's about a period just before NOFX came along but this is a brilliant book, Our Band Could Be Your Life about bands like Minutemen, Mudhoney, Butthole Surfers, The Replacements. Might be worth thinking of if you've a bit of money left at the end.

I actually just bought a "walk by scrabble board" for my parents for Christmas. Figured it would be fun to hang by the door so they could play one word each time the either leave or come home. I second the glove idea. Just got a pair for myself. This one. However, I got the 100 series which are thin and can be used more as a liner than a warm mitt. If anyone goes for sensor gloves, I'd recommend something thicker.
