Low key impressed with this list!

>Bulk loose leaf tea. Best I've found is health food shop. I don't like all the packaging they do for tea, I'm happy to diffuse it myself

>Bulk staples: spices, rice, pasta, etc. BULk for best prices.

Large Asian Grocery stores like MCQ or NP.

>Proper cold-pressed dill pickles, Lithuanian half-sour type. These are only brined, never heated, so they have a crisp snap (and can't be shipped really because of refrigeration). Claussen is the best comparison, but afaik you can't get those outside the USA because of refrigeration issues

Somewhere like The Re Store (Northbridge/Leederville) is probably your best bet (same for bulk black olives).

>A Switch. Refurbished is fine. Saw $500 at the mall and that's too much for me to pay.

Currently $398 Free Shipping at Amazon. (Cheap Nintendo Switch Consoles seem to be one of the only things local Amazon is good for)

>Nice potted plants. Bunnings?

Bunnings and Waldecks are the majors, although keep an eye out for various plant sales run by local councils as well as seasonal warehouse plant sales, often advertised on social media. Worth searching for nurseries in your local area on google maps if you want to try and compare with more local options.

>Art supplies: polymer clay, ribbon, dried flowers, fabric, felt, beads, feathers, silk flowers

Riot Art & Craft is a major chain in malls that would have this sort of stuff, you may also find some of these items at the other big craft chains like Spotlight or Lincraft. Jacksons for painting / drawing supplies.

>BBQ sauce, American style. Default styles here don't have proper tang or spice.

Fancy IGAs (e.g 2nd Ave Mount Lawley, Taylor Rd Nedlands) - very extensive BBQ sauce ranges.

>Mild peppers. Not capsicum, but stuff like ortega or poblano (anaheim peppers?), mild chiles like for stuffing for a chile relleno. All I can find are "chilis" which seem to encompass all peppers in one broad stroke while also excluding mild ones somehow?

The major grocery stores are hit and miss and will stock these sorts of peppers sometimes, but not all year round. The larger asian grocery chains mentioned above may be able to assist as well as the smaller greengrocers / fruit and vegetable stores found in most malls. I'd suggest you grow your own if you have the space, they grow super easy in the Perth climate and will provide you with more peppers than you would ever need 9-10 months of the year.

>Chipotle. Powder form is less ideal, but it's better than nothing.

The Spice Wagon in Morley (The market this is inside, Coventry has a MASSIVE range of multicultural food shops and restaurants in addition to this place), you should be able to find Chipotle in Adobo at any of the fancier IGAs or at some of the asian grocery stores already mentioned.

>For the same reason, jellied cranberry sauce

Coles and Woolworths have this (Ocean Spray brand) all year round - albeit in a jar rather than a can.

>Buttermilk

All major supermarkets should have at least one variety in the dairy case with all the other milk (separate with the other refrigerated misc milks) - often only available in a 600ml bottle though.

>Marinated mushrooms. In the USA, i get them in jars or at the olive bar.

I've seen them in major supermarket in jars / cans, may be referred to by the french term (champignon).

>Stone fruit. Can't find peaches, plums, nectarines, etc.

Seasonal fruit that doesn't tend to get imported from other countries, these are often only available in the summer (November - April at the most).

>Japanese grocery store. Do those exist in Perth?

There are a few (two in Subiaco alone - here and here), however keep in mind that unless you want something really niche the larger asian grocery stores will often have what these two stores stock at a much lower price.

Yep, love it! Intermittent fasting has changed my life for the better in a number of ways and I've lost 30kgs using it. Not for everyone, but there's many forms of intermittent fasting you can use based on your goals, existing condition, and current lifestyle.

Our introduction to the topic was the 5:2 diet Michael Mosely wrote about in "The Fast Diet" (https://www.amazon.com/FastDiet-Weight-Healthy-Intermittent-Fasting/dp/1476734941). But the thing that made it all click for me was "The Obestiy Code" by Jason Fung (https://www.amazon.com/Obesity-Code-Unlocking-Secrets-Weight/dp/1771641258) as that went into more detail about obesity, insulin resistance, and how fasting can be used as a tool.

Following on from that Jason Fung has a great podcast with Jimmy Moore called Fasting Talk (http://www.fastingtalk.com/), and together they wrote a book called "The Complete Guide to Fasting" (https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Guide-Fasting-Intermittent-Alternate-Day/dp/1628600012/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_14_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=T8ZVNTT4TWP9E76C1RJW) which I've not got around to reading yet. It came out after I started fasting but I hope to get my hands on it soon.

As a ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting go hand in hand another one of Jimmy Moore's podcasts I've found helpful is Keto Talk (http://ketotalk.com/)

Can't stop raving about IF, hope some of those links help :)

Yeah completely understandable, it's not too complicated, but from an outsiders perspective can look daunting. I can't really recommend any specific financial advisors, but if you have the time to do some reading I can recommend a few things that will help you out. A Random Walk down Wall Street and The Intelligent Investor are great, easy to read introductions to value investing, while this post on /r/AusFinance gives some pretty straightforward and practical advice.

While its not the advice you're looking for right now, do consider it as it may help save you thousands of dollars in the long run.

I thought the same when I saw these - the covers would be trivial to remove and even easier to put a cheap 3D printed cover on it with malware or a capacitor to blow up phones.

Something like this could stop malware pretty easy if you frequently charge from mystery sources. But then again, if you are going to carry a saftey adapter and need to charge frequently, you may as well carry a lipstick sized powerbank.

I got something similar to this years ago and it’s worked great. Mine only has one pocket though. Less bum bag like, but can stretch to hold more if I need it to. It’s also great for travelling.

Got one of these as a spare to take to work:
[ESR RunningBelt] (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B073GYDHTB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

It's not quite as good/comfy as the Flipbelt I have at home but, at a fifth of the price, it's pretty sweet

Is This the stuff you are after? Free 2 day delivery with prime, so your leftover roast might still be good for a good roast & gravy roll.

https://www.amazon.com/Celestron-SkyMaster-Binoculars-Tripod-Adapter/dp/B00008Y0VN/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1543074895&sr=8-2-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=15x70+binoculars&psc=1

I got these before they stopped shipping to Aus, amazing for the money, can see the moon clearly! ( in AUD plus delivery around $120)

Looking to upgrade to 25 x 100 even more powerful.

Blunt Umbrellas are the $$$$$ option. I think I've seen them at The Good Store in East Vic Park.

https://www.thegoodstore.com.au/search-results.asp?sKeywords=umbrella&price=&Submit=Submit

$100 to $160 range from that shop.

I did a "bit" (a lot) of research and eventually went the $$ option and got this on Amazon instead -> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0160HYB8S/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's pretty durable so far.

u/DoubleUKayG · 1 pointr/perth

At work I use this to recover "dead" drives:

http://www.amazon.com/SATA-Hard-Drive-Adapter-Cable/dp/B007VKII56

Plug the adapter up and rotate the drive on all orientation till the clicking stops. Once you've found the sweet spot, just be extra sensitive and unplug everything and plug it back in with that sweet spot orientation you've just discovered. As usual, YMMV.

But yeah, generally, clicking noises are bad cause it's physical.

My bet would be to try Kakulas Bros in Northbridge first, and then maybe pop in to some specialty/international grocers and ask if they've got them. They're the little red buggers in prepared spanish olives. Get a jar and dig em out maybe?

For the life of me I can't imagine what sort of American recipe you're making that requires these, and I'm an American. Dafuq you doin?

u/skryring · 2 pointsr/perth

A thread about ants was posted last year and a lot of people mentioned Amdro and this was linked. Way cheaper than buying it at bunnings (it came to something like $60 inc shipping for me but its way more than you would get buying it from bunnings).

I never got around to using it though, but I've noticed ants again so plan on doing it soon.
