Yess the good stuff!! This is the one in the video, but I'd actually recommend the IngenuiTea or IngenuiTea2 - they're a bit easier to clean IMO! Happy tea-making! 🍵🙏

u/Einsteins_coffee_mug · 3 pointsr/pocketoperators

Yup.

these are my favorite for hand held PO noodling since they keep the cable neat cooked up like that. Takes up less room than a straight 3’ cable would.

And these guys are great for a nice solid desktop setup.

Depending on how you record or mix the output, you may want to pickup a 3.5mm to 1/4” breakout cable to deal with any stereo/balancing issues you might encounter.

After some discussions with other users, I realized capturing the stereo backup file is a bit trickier than expected with a PC. But I found a solution using a $18 audio capture card from amazon that works perfectly. I recorded a complete walk-through, but if you're familiar with the process, the only missing piece for you is the USB stereo audio capture card. Here's the specific one I used:

If you have any questions or if I can clarify anything or improve the video, please let me know.

Thanks!

Depends what you're recording from/playing to but any 3.5mm cable will do either in or out - these are ok, I have some of them:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Headphones-Stereos-Smartphones-Speakers-Red/dp/B00SUIKMBQ/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1538762519&sr=1-9&keywords=3.5mm+cable+90%23

Also I like to record via the headphone socket (rarely) on my Samsung S7 so use TRRS input to do this so for that you'd need something like these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/CableCreation-Auxiliary-4-Conductor-Microphone-Compatible-Black-White/dp/B01K3WY93I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1538762388&sr=8-4&keywords=TRRS+Cable

I do carry a very short (around 10cm) 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable around with my KO so I can sample from my phone anytime/anywhere - insta-fun right there.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I would like something with physical keys as opposed to pad keys (sorry if i'm not explaining that correctly) like on the Volca series, although they do look interesting; I've heard the Sample is the most versatile, is that true?

What about something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ROLAND-SYSTEM-1-Roland-Variable-Synthesizer/dp/B00LBVIWO8/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=synthesizer&qid=1558473076&refinements=p_89%3AROLAND&rnid=1632651031&s=musical-instruments&sr=1-4

Or is this a bit overkill? haha

I've tried the PO-16 and PO-28, but find them a bit limiting.

For those who are new to hobby and not considering getting a field recorder yet, but want to save samples - could be a good option. I’m using this USB audio capture card https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Audio-Capture-Windows-10-11/dp/B019T9KS04 .

u/TheTomorrowMachine · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

If it’s a combined headset input, I don’t think it will take audio in from a regular aux cable. A small USB interface will work great for just AUX out recording. I use this on my MacBook Air and it works great:

u/Alinutor · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

hi dude, I'm glad you liked it! https://www.amazon.com/Headset-Buddy-External-batteries-iPhone-Mic-Dynamic/dp/B00OAXAWRY/ I bought this and it works, I'm pretty sure there are better ways like iRig HD or something but this is the cheapest one.

u/AsksAStupidQuestion · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

Did you get any kind of protective case for yours? I bought a little case for like 5 bucks in hopes it would protect it some.

u/gatohaus · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

$32 Solution:

I grabbed a cheap voice recorder w/line-in. The famous Toobom R39 that all the kids are raving about /s. Set input to line-in with wav, max bitrate, no compression, etc it works fine. It's pretty tiny too, like a large lighter.Maybe someone can find one even cheaper, but I thought I'd share that it worked.

I use this cable

https://www.amazon.com/Headset-Buddy-Line-level-Smartphones-iPhone-Mic-Line/dp/B00OAW85ZG

to record straight into my iPhone, all you need is a 3.5mm aux cord and a headphone input (TRRS). It would also work to record into the MacBook with decent quality, but you will trade stereo quality for mono. If you want to maintain your stereo field, I highly recommend a 2 channel audio interface to record in left and right as 2 separate channels.

u/ironmonger_ · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

Looks like that interface has a stereo input, so you'd need to daisy chain and sync your POs in order to record them at the same time (aux cable from output of one to input of the other).

Then you'd connect a cable like the one linked below to your POs output (sorry on mobile can't see a better way to link), and plug the white jack into the left input on your interface and the red jack into right input.

That ought to do it, your interface seems pretty old but assuming you have the right drivers etc it should be fine.

u/NashNoles · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

The problem is that this was recorded in mono. The file is stereo, but the two sides in the wave form are identical.

If you use the cable below into your interface and record both channels at once you will be able to export the file. :

Send me a direct message if you need a hand.

u/madmonk13 · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

I just ordered one of these for just that purpose. I won't have it for another week, but I figure at that size I can fit at least 5 POs, plus cables and spare batteries.

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NPZ28KM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/Rayman323 · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

If you mean something like this then you can do the same with any free audio recording software and one of these things.

Just sync up the audio with the visual in a video editor of your choice, and your set!

u/kasim0n · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

I would assume something like https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B071HJ98Q6 would be an easy solution. Haven't tested this though yet, but I'm ordering one.

u/JohnnyJiuJitsu · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

There’s a video on YouTube. It’s in the settings somewhere https://youtu.be/sB4MT9H8SjE
Edit: you might need a usb audio interface. Something like this : Sabrent USB External Stereo Sound Adapter for Windows and Mac. Plug and Play No Drivers Needed. (AU-MMSA) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_r2z2DbNJW2NZ4

u/SlickPocket · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

You might want one of these for recording into audio interfaces or plugging into certain sound systems: 3.5mm stereo to dual 1/4” Mono Y-Cable

u/niceguy44 · 3 pointsr/pocketoperators

That's the plan! I can't really record anything right now tbh, but I ordered a "Headset Buddy" from Amazon after seeing people talk about it here and on YouTube, which will enable me to record. Other than that I've just got an aux cable, a headphone splitter to listen + record at the same time, and the 3.5mm to iPhone thingy.

u/johnlago · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

This little thing is technically an audio interface, but very small and cheap. Gets the job done (in stereo for the backups!) for my PO-33. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019T9KS04/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_l-4WDbXB93TX1

u/JensonCoins · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

Yup. It's a odd. A lot of those connector kids seem to be audio > digital, so you'd need an adapter to step the line out to an audio jack, then run it through a connector kit (like iRig), to convert it back to digital... it seems like you should able to cut out the middle bit.

I found this mic connector which might work...

The Amazon Basics case for My Passport hard drives is cheap and just about the perfect size. My wife had one for her backup drive, but now it's my PO travel case. :-)
