Desktop stand with heavy base

Boom stand with clamp or mount

I gave up on desktop stands years ago. Too much hassle. I like a simple boom much more.

You need a phantom power supply. I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-1-Channel-Microphone-Condenser-Recording/dp/B014H8AWGC

If you search on Amazon you can find others for just a bit more money. I've had no problems with mine, but others have reported that it adds a bit of noise to the signal. Of you can spare the extra money, id go with a lottle nicer one.

> How would I set it up so that I can hear myself and the other person through the headphones?

You do this with what's called a "headphone amp" or "headphone distribution amp": https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KIPT30

For the input, you can either get an adapter that merges the two analog mic outputs, or if you need volume control, a mini mixer like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KGYAYQ/

The mxl website lists the 990 @ .5443 kg.

Really Any stand with a boom attachment should work. If you are still worried about the stand tipping over you can put some weight on the stand legs or you can look into a boom that attaches to your desk. Like this one Neewer Broadcast Studio Microphone Suspension Boom. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AK7SKL4/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_0DbSub0H344YE

This is what I use when I use the Procaster.

Like this unboxing video.

I'm confused about your connections.

I've used a USB mic with an iPhone using a lightning-to-USB adapter like this https://www.amazon.com/HENKUR-Adapter-Charging-Interface-Compatible/dp/B07HK6HNR1/

The mic plugs into the USB port of that adapter, and I connected a lightning power to the other input of the adapter. That power is used by the mic. It took a few plug-and-unplug cycles for it to catch, but once it was on, it worked fine.

I bought this a few years ago and it gets the job done, though I have very few interviews on location. I'm sure there are other ones out there, so it's worth checking out.

Appreciated.

Which shock mount you're using, with the Procaster? RØDE's (link) , or something else?

u/XtreemIce · 1 pointr/podcast

Oh wow, yeah that's insane. Stop the buzz, don't try and remove that with noise reduction in the software.

I'm not an expert but I researched a similar issue for mine, though it wasn't quite as feedback-y sounding as that.

It's possibly something to do with being connected to the mains electricity.

You should try plugging the usb microphone in to a port, before it goes in to the computer

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ISOUL-Ultra-Slim-Portable-Expansion-Splitter/dp/B01DYD3Q28/ref=pd_cp_147_4/262-5496038-1671456?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01DYD3Q28&pd_rd_r=28732181-c10e-4579-94d4-16a1cfd19261&pd_rd_w=GQXXc&pd_rd_wg=bNeXf&pf_rd_p=90a1ae50-b353-4b88-b984-b1b8b30d3309&pf_rd_r=HSMSQWMJ88Z7EG9XFFV0&psc=1&refRID=HSMSQWMJ88Z7EG9XFFV0

or if you're using a laptop, unplug it from the mains when recording tot se if that makes a difference.

I’d stay away from anything Behringer. If you can swing it, get yourself an SM58/57 and be done with it. If that’s not in the budget, the Monoprice clones of the SM58 and SM57 are only a little more than the Behringer.

I agree what everyone else is saying with the Focusrite. That’ll be nice and last you a while.

The springs might be a problem, and I’ve never used a mic stand with a spring, so I don’t have direct experience to help you out... but most drum pedals comes with foam/felt in the springs to stop the noise. Maybe you could get some for your springs.
