I know you've gotten some good answers already, but I wanted to add that if you are going to get your son cards you could get something like this which will help him learn how to play. They also sell theme decks like these and this cool looking box that has energy cards and other game accessories as well as booster packs to open. On the other hand, if you just get booster packs or a tin like one of these he more than likely won't have enough energy cards and stuff to play the actual game. But a lot of kids just collect the cards, they don't actually play the game. If he is just going to collect, booster packs or tins that contain booster packs are the way to go.
And if in the future you decide to get him a 3DS, there is a cheaper option, the 2DS which functions exactly like a 3DS, just with no 3D feature. I think he would enjoy the newest pokemon games (X/Y, OR/AS) the most as you can connect to wifi to trade and battle with others. But until then I'd go with one of the more recent DS games like Black/White or Black 2/White 2.
Well, whatever you decide to get him, I hope your son enjoys his pokemon gifts! My 3 year old daughter loves pokemon and I've had a blast letting her play around with my 3DS and opening cards with her. She's got her own little collection going and is so proud of it! :)
That's awesome! The olives(?) work super well for the face, and the carrot flower is pretty cute. Did you make it? Were you partially inspired by the sweet potato Sharmin in the Pokemon cookbook?
That's why eBay is a better place to figure out how much something is worth, because you can tell if people are actively trying to pay that much money for it or not. I mean I've seen listings on eBay where people are offering mint holo 1st edition Charizards for like $1000000, so you might think the card is worth that much because someone's selling it for that much, but if nobody's actually buying it...
On a related note, someone on Amazon is selling Ruby for $300. The description on that listing is so wrong, though.
> Start out with just 3 Pokemon
-?
> Over 350 new Pokemon are here to battle with, collect and trade
?? Hoehn only added a little over 130 new pokemon, and you can't even obtain all 386 Pokemon with just Ruby (and Sapphire) alone!
> New battle system allows trainers to take two Pok mon into battle instead of just one at a time
Well, yeah, but this description makes it sound like you can do that all the time, rather than in just a few battles.
> As you play you'll open up fun and exciting mini-games that advance the storyline
I have no idea what this is referring to. The only "mini-games" are the Contests and the slot machines, and neither of those advance the story at all.
> You can then groom your Pokémon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like "Best of Show,"
??? It's like somebody's mom wrote this based on really early release notes that were translated by fans.
Thanks for the compliments! :) As for the paints, just gotta find the right ones that don't crack the paint pens and make sure the sealant doesn't affect the base paint AND the paint pens >> it's quite a hassle. I paint the base color, she uses the pens and I seal the project and mod the GB itself.
Just need to do some reasearch and you'll find some good info I'm sure :) sorry I can't be much more helpful than that lol
I recommend you get a cheap 2DS that closes, so she doesn’t break or scratch the screen and she can play any Pokémon game with a 2DS, highly recommend Pokémon Crystal as it’s 10 dollars easy to read, simple and immersive world, has 250 Pokémon, first game to have sprite animations and they are cute she will enjoy watching them move, and a simple story for a four year old. Some of the newer games could be tricky with HM and battles.
Still recommend you play with her and help her read attacks as they will be repeated constantly and it will help her reading skills improve as she will get a lot of practice.

Pokémon 2DS click used much cheaper:

It looks like Amazon has one for $40 right now: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0804162832/ref=tmm_pap_new_olp_sr?ie=UTF8&condition=new&qid=1458444142&sr=8-1
I don't know why that one is so expensive. It is weird too, the hardback is sometimes cheaper in places.
Maybe try going to a store like Walmart or Best Buy (or whatever is near you) They might have leftover copies. I know those two places in specific sometimes have older guides.
I hope you find one you can afford. I like having a physical guide too. I bought the ORAS national dex one and I absolutely love it; they have nice pictures if anything.
I receive the email updates about new Pokemon products coming to the JP Pokemon center. A few months ago i noticed that they were going to release a drum bag like Lillie uses to hold nebby. Ive been monitoring the US Pokemon center about a possible release state side but so far I have found nothing.
At this point i am going to just import it but when searching for the product ive found two different bags. One seems to be a small pouch replica (https://www.pokemoncenter-online.com/?p_cd=4521329216416)
The other product ive found seems to be the actual bag judging by the dimensions (https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%9D%E3%82%B1%E3%83%A2%E3%83%B3-Pokemon-%E3%83%9D%E3%82%B1%E3%83%A2%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BB%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%82%AA%E3%83%AA%E3%82%B8%E3%83%8A%E3%83%AB-%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A8%E3%81%8C%E6%8C%81%E3%81%A3%E3%81%A6%E3%81%84%E3%82%8B-%E3%83%89%E3%83%A9%E3%83%A0%E3%83%90%E3%83%83%E3%82%B0/dp/B01N523HZ6)
Another thing that also confuses me is that on the campaign page for the products there is no listing for a regular bag but just the pouch (http://www.pokemon.co.jp/info/2017/04/170428_p05.html?news_recommend=attention).
I wanted to ask for some help on finding the true bag or if anyone has bought this bag and can give me a review of the product. I love how this bag looks and how it is subtle in its design, it shows off a really cool pokemon motif without being all blown up with mons and text.
Tl;Dr: Has anyone bought the drum bag lillie owns as seen in sun and moon from the Pokemon center JP?
You're playing my opposite games, in reverse order. I did Y, and now AS :) You are like Bizarro me, or vice versa! ha
So on the way to the ship, I just stopped at Barnes and Noble and bought this Pokédex. Man does this take me back, except it's about three times as thick as that first glossy Pokédex I bought back in the 90's, lol.
I'm playing Heart Gold and working on the National Pokedex. In the Safari Zone, I can place up to 30 items of different types in each zone to increase my chances of finding certain pokemon. I also own this strategy guide:
https://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-HeartGold-SoulSilver-Official-National/dp/0307468054
and in the Safari Zone section it has several examples of certain pokemon requiring more than 30 items (for example, Cacnea requires 35 forest items). How am I supposed to find these pokemon if I can only place 30 items in each zone?
Depends on a few things -- if he's new to the game, the trainer kits are good guides on learning to play. You play a scripted game between two half decks, which you can later combine into one deck. There's a Pikachu Libre/Suicune Trainer Kit and a Latios/Latias Trainer Kit, both are at Target for $10 each.
If he's more familiar with the trading card game, then the theme decks are a good place to start. For every set, they'll release two theme decks together, and Amazon sometimes sells the two together, for slightly cheaper than at retail. Here is the newest set of theme decks: https://smile.amazon.com/Pokemon-Steam-Siege-60-card-Theme/dp/B01I41EODA. You should be able to find these at Target too.
If he is more of an expert, then you may want the Rayquaza vs. Keldeo Battle Arena set that just came out. http://www.target.com/p/pokemon-trading-card-game-battle-arena-deck-featuring-rayquaza/-/A-51347703?lnk=abtest_searchpdp_1
I have a 13 y.o. cousin who plays the tcg online game, and I would estimate either the theme decks or battle arena decks would be good for him.
You can also try r/pkmntcg for more advice.
The Pokémon Cookbook: Easy & Fun Recipes (Pokemon) https://www.amazon.com/dp/1421589893/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-zMTBb2VQM4DZ
I bought this pokemon cookbook on Amazon! I haven't made anything though, some are hard while others are easier.
Where are you going with 150 to 200?
SoulSilver is on Amazon for like 50 to 80 dollars used. Don't bother trying to buy it new, you can erase the saved data of someone's previous playthrough by UP+SELECT+B at the start screen.

There are no Gen 1 remakes for the 3DS.
Pick up X or Y, and OmegaRuby or AlphaSapphire. They should satisfy you until Sun/Moon comes out.
Pokéballs can also be made out of acorns. In the realm of reality, those aren't particularly difficult to come by.
The potions which recover 20 hit points are only twice as effective as the most common berry, and less than half as effective as a bottle of fresh water. The approximate prices of those are about $3.00, $0.20, and $2.00 respectively. That being said, a collapsible bicycle can cost $1,449.99, which is still less than the one million dollar Pokédollar tag but not wholly out of the realm of reasonable considering the competition and the ability to purchase on-site rather than on-line.
The School Kid trainer class in Black and White 2 has rewards of 180 to 1260 Pokédollars. Assuming the same penalty applies to them (half of the total amount on hand) they have around $3.60 to $25.20. A Happy Meal costs a little less than $3.00 before tax. Also of note, that 1260 Pokédollar child has two level 63 Pokémon.
Yeah. My girlfriend encountered that problem. Yoshida's signature slightly smeared when she put it in her bag.
Nintendo 3DS XL Duraflexi Protector - Clear by HORI I protect my 3Ds XL and signatures with this, and I highly recommend it.
Alternatively, you can go to a hobby shop, and buy a mat clear coat finish for model painting.
Thanks. I guess I'll just have to buckle down, save up, and find one somewhere used.
Also, yep, some sellers on Amazon are selling it for $290 to $380
My daughter and I are getting 3DSes for Christmas and are looking to get into Pokémon. I think we're going to start with X&Y and move onto Sun and Moon later (though I could be convinced otherwise).
That said, now that we're three years past the release of X&Y, what books are recommended to pick up to help with the game? I know there's a lot of information online, but my daughter is too young to browse online, so a printed book would be good.
Should I get the Kalos Pokédex? Does that cover all the Pokémon in X&Y, or do I need to supplement with a national Pokédex or an earlier Pokédex (such as the one for B2W2)?
Should I get the guidebook, or is the Pokédex all we need?
Ok I think I found you 2 legit cartridges judging by the comments on Amazon. They are both under $/£35 B-) http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00028S9P8 - Leaf Green with free GBA adapter. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0006GBD04 - Leaf Green by itself. Hoped this helped :-D
It seems pretty low, so I'll pass. But here are some pages on Amazon you can trust, just check their seller rating.
Hope I helped. Sorry we couldn't make a deal.
Yep. Gamestop has a lot of sucky business practices, but I don't think this is one of them. They're selling the games for the price people will pay. You can get it cheaper on Amazon, but that would require buying it from random sellers you've probably never heard of.
Some games become dirt cheap when they get old, others become collector's items and don't. Not really surprising that an old Pokemon game is in the latter category, given both the popularity of the game and that there's still motivation to buy it (I don't think you're the only one trying to pick it up to help complete the Pokedex).
Hopefully this can help you.
I found this 3ds http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002I096AA/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?qid=1417727294&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

2DS (cheaper and just as good. Source: I have a 2DS) http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EZPCWWA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1417728153&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40
If you're interested in the physical copies, all the volumes of BW are available on Amazon. I prefer the standard manga sized book as opposed to the smaller size ones found in the box sets. Here is a link to volume 1. The remaining volumes are listed in the suggested items. I actually just finished the last volume of BW last night. It was a really solid story overall, my only complaint is that they try to incorporate all of the legendaries from that gen, and it feels pretty forced. It was still one of my favorite runs of the series though.
Heart gold or soul silver for the DS. It's close to $60 on Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-SoulSilver-Version-Nintendo-DS/dp/B0038MTE7C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368371549&sr=8-1&keywords=pok%C3%A9mon+soulsilver

though looks like the price went up to £40 since i bought it, some of the 2nd hand ones are cheap though
Yes get one of the 'Pokémon Handbooks' (probably this)
Or this when it comes out, although it's more of a strategy guide.
Or you could just play around on the Pokédex section of the Pokémon website.
If he is actually wanting to play the game instead of collecting then I would get him a few premade decks (so he can play with others). It's less efficient and a waste of money buying packs since, if I remember correctly, they only come with 1 energy card per pack and you'd have to buy very many packs to make a deck to even play with.
I'd get him something like this, but there are plenty of deck choices you can choose from:
https://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-Steam-Siege-60-Card-Theme/dp/B01I41EODA
https://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-XY-Fates-Collide-Zygarde/dp/B01E653HKO
Fair enough. Then I wish you good luck and happy catching!
I have an NDS Adaptor Plus to back up and restore my DS save files, and it's served me well. For 3DS games, you'll want a Powersaves 3DS. (Powersaves Pro for 3DS is the same device in different packaging, so if that's what's available in your country then that's fine too.) I have heard a couple of reports of bricking, but that's always a risk with any cheat devices.
http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-XL-Duraflexi-Protector-Clear/dp/B00GX330XW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420079824&sr=8-1&keywords=hori+3ds+xl+case+tpu
Best 3DSXL case out there.
I highly recommend this book for completing the pokedex. Volume one is good too, but if you have already beaten the game then you really are going to want to get the book linked. While I have not completed my 'dex yet, I am actively working on doing it, and this book gets into the gnat's ass about where to find each pokemon, its evolution etc. It also tells you what games the pokemon is available in (will help when knowing which ones you will have to trade).
Hope this helps.
IIRC, if you have a digital copy, the save files should be located on your SD card. You could copy those over and start a new game.(See Below)If you have a physical cartridge, you'll have to purchase a Powersaves (here or here depending on your region).
If you're not worried about losing items, you can just transfer your Pokemon to Bank.
Wow, Action Replay. It's been a long time, since I used one of those :P .
I assume this is what you're talking about though: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Datel-Action-Replay-Power-Nintendo/dp/B00CQ9L1Z6/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1411296716&sr=1-1&keywords=datel+3ds
this looks like the item but it looks like it is pretty much sold out :(
http://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-Holder-Klefki-Limited-Center/dp/B00LAUH372/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1405094091&sr=8-3&keywords=pokemon+klefki
It's pretty, uh, expensive, at $111, and it still has shipping!
https://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-Center-Original-Lillie-Drum/dp/B01N523HZ6
I'm been trying to collect all the Pokemon Adventures Manga, and I've managed to collect all the books until Vol. 44 (https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Adventures_volume_44). However, looking online, I've only been able to see these Black and White chapters sold as Vol. 1 to Vol. 20 on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Pok%C3%A9mon-Adventures-Black-White-Pokemon/dp/142155898X/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1537612118&sr=8-6&keywords=pokemon+adventures+vol.+1), instead of continuing from Vol. 43. I was wondering whether there is any difference in content between the ones labelled Vol.1 - Vol. 20, compared to the ones that continue from Vol.43 onwards, or whether it's just publishing differences. I was also wondering if anyone knew where to purchase the versions that continue from Vol.43 in english.
Several hundred was exaggerating a bit, but they're definitely not cheap .
Gen I though...
got one off amazon for like 20$
edit: here you go
Hope this helps dude: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0038MVFYC/sr=1-1/qid=1406403111/ref=olp_tab_all?ie=UTF8&qid=1406403111&sr=1-1
Event Pokémon are limited time Pokémon and back on the DS I had a gameshark to hack in any event Pokémon that I didn’t have. Some of these event Pokémon caused special things to happen in the games like unlocking the ability to catch the Regi trio in HGSS or Spikey Eared Pichu.
This is more about experiencing something again and realizing that in order to do so with what I have I’d have to literally erase the old saves, not about getting a living dex.
Also in terms of “buy a new copy of old games”, digital ones from Nintendo are one thing, but this is just ridiculous
You can buy them off amazon.
i sure as well wont for that price though. and a heads up they aren't that great for actually holding keys. Any keys you put on are likely to chip the paint and the head/body is somewhat prone to falling off with regular use. So while it looks very cool, unfortunately it's not all that functional.
I'm not OP but I found it on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LAUH372/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/191-1871691-1043453

Already launched in the US
I like this but it's a little over your budget.
Well there's this.
Also it's a strategy guide, unless you skip ahead to later sections you'll be fine. And you can just reference it after going through a route to see if you miss anything.
As for your other question, I'd still probably start with XY, it's got a few more things for beginners and you won't be inducted by as many new systems.
All the pokemon in the Kalos dex are available in Kalos, it would be weird if they were in the regional dex but not actually in the region, so trading between the two will be enough. You only need to import or trade from other sources (ORAS/GTS) if you want the national dex completed.
They sell the replica bag of Lillie on Amazon, bit expensive but it's a licence bag that was sold at the Pokemon Center.
https://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-Center-Original-Lillie-Drum/dp/B01N523HZ6
You can get one here!
https://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-Center-Original-Lillie-Drum/dp/B01N523HZ6 here you go it kinda pricey for a bag that can't even keep one cosmog in it
The books are already larger that "pocket size", the one for BW2 is under $20. HGSS is the same price, also.

Like this? Will I need the software download too?
Or you could get yourself one of these!
This one on amazon seems to have some eu flags on the packaging. Other than that it might be on the label. The powersaves site shows a distinct difference on what each can do, usually no difference but eu seems to get codes first and then the us a few weeks later.
