There are two types of wrestling shoes - those with a split sole, like the ones you have listed above, and solid sole shoes, like the Asics Matflex. I think the split soles are better for sumo deadlifts, as they allow you to root your feet better than solid soles, as the split ones are much more flexible.

Since you added the martial arts aspect, though, I would consider the Asics Omniflex Attack 2, as the top is smooth and is more like a bare foot. It secures around the foot using two velcro straps that are tucked in and not visible. Omniflex Attack

If you're looking for lifters, I LOVE my Innov-8 fast lifts. The heels are solid. A great deal on Amazon.

I recently got a pair of the Innov-8 fast lite for general work. Love them too!

Not the greatest sound quality (not terrible, but definitely not the best), but the battery lasts a fucking long time and the BT range is better than almost any other pair I've tried. Hands down the best value for any headphones I've ever used: https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTH240-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headphone/dp/B00AWIPITS

If you prefer in-ear instead of over, then these are the way to go. First and foremost, you can take one ear bud out and not have it dangle down awkwardly, pull the flimsy cord into an uncomfortable position, and ultimately yank the other bud out of your ear. Most ungodly annoying thing about BT headphones IMO. Aywho - battery life has about 6 hours of continuous use in them (not as good as the Kinivo, but good enough for a few gym sessions between charges) and the range is pretty solid. A+ sound quality, too: https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-TaoTronics-Microphone-Waterproof-Cancelling/dp/B06Y671331/ref=pd_sbs_107_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B06Y671331&pd_rd_r=F2XSJ4RT9K6FY0V566TE&pd_rd_w=wn5GH&pd_rd_wg=bBgk0&psc=1&refRID=F2XSJ4RT9K6FY0V566TE

FWIW I still own a pair of both, use them regularly, and honestly prefer the TaoTronics headhones over my fancy ass "high end" noise cancelling ones when listening to music.

I spent a couple of years trying to figure out how best to go about it. I've seen and tried many different methods including emery boards, pumice stones, soaking hands and either filing down or using a cuticle trimmer to cut calluses off, picking off calluses with your fingernails, and on and on.

What I found worked very well for me is using Callus Eliminator gel.
http://www.amazon.com/ProLinc-Callus-Eliminator-4-oz/dp/B000PT1R9E

  • Rub it on your hands, wait 3-5 minutes, then file your calluses down with a pumice stone.

  • If you don't want to wait for the gel, take two cups of hot water and add another half cup of apple cider vinegar and an 1/8 to a 1/4 cup of hand soap, mix this all together and soak each hand for 3-5 minutes then get to filing.

  • I prefer this pumice stone: http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Pumice-Pumi-Bar-Purple/dp/B0002KU6GG

What I found works even better and much, much quicker is to use an electric nail buffer post-shower (negating the need to soak your hands first). Any electric nail file will work. You can either use the coarse carbide tips or the sandpaper tips (the latter are my preference).
What I use looks similar to this: https://www.nailsuperstore.com/assets/items/large/medicool-pro-power-portable-electric-nail-filing-machine.jpg

The electric nail file works so much more quickly than any sort of manual filing with a pumice stone or any other coarse object.

If you have the money, you should get some grippers. Captains of Crush are nice but I recommend the GHP grippers now. It's definitely an investment and not a waste of money. I still have a Trainer, #1, and #2 that I've had since 2002. 15 years, many thousands of reps, not a bad value for the initial $20 per gripper.

However, although they will develop your grip and forearms, they probably won't have a huge impact on your deadlift holding strength overall. You should combine the grippers with holds for time on the deadlift and other stuff as has been said in this thread.

Best pair of over-ear I've ever used: https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Headphones-Alpatronix-HX101-Universal/dp/B01CHC5ZP8

They are cheap but sound as good as the bose I used to have, battery lasts like forever and they have nice controls on the side.

The commercial gym I train at has slippery benches as well. Here are some solutions that have helped me not fly off the bench:

  1. Drawer/shelf liners: this is probably the best solution! I just drape it on top of the entire bench and BAM. No slip!

The liner is sold in a roll (link below), but you only need a piece long enough for the bench.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002AS9NAI/ref=pd_aw_sim_201_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=Y8ZFN4WHEN3VNNZ6BDD9&dpPl=1&dpID=91V8hWHWKlL

  2. Bands: you can tie resistance bands/floss around the bench. I don’t like this method because it takes me time to tie the bands in the right spot (head area and butt). It’s much faster to just toss the drawer liner on the bench.

  3. A7 bar grip shirts: these have a grippy material on the upper back area of the shirt. I think they run about $30 each.

    Hope this helps! HAPPY BENCHING!

I don't have any insight on the adidas one, but I have this one in black that I've used for all ~7 of my meets. It is pretty cheap, so if you're looking to get another singlet later anyways that is approved by your fed of choice, it could be a good one to get you through this meet as cheaply as possible.

Sure, some of it may be "outdated" or whatever. But honestly, programming for strength is relatively easy versus programming for sport. The big things to control are training stress (essentially time under tension), general fatigue (from both training, work, life, etc.), and recovery (uh, sleep, food, sex?). From there... it gets a bit more complex, but honestly, it's not hard to learn.

I deadlift in crossfit lite tr shoes. I think there are a few of us here that do that. It's a low flat sole grippy shoe. Yes, it says crossfit but they're fantastic.

And count yourself blessed that you only saw someone curl in the squat rack recently. I see it a few times a week and we only have one squat rack =-/

The Titan stuff is pretty good. /r/homegym likes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N4I8FOY/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_.vGEzbDEDMKQV too.

I think it's important to realize that cheap shit can work just fine if you're willing to baby it a bit. Getting a good barbell would be the best place to spend your money, but something is better than nothing.

I have this Under Armour bag - it fits my belt, squat shoes, wrist wraps, sleeves, chalk, snacks, clothes...basically everything. It has awesome pockets and I like wearing it as a backpack when I bike to work. It's great.

tha 100% cocoa from Ghirardelli is awesome and doesn't cost a bunch when ordered in bulk quantities from Amazon. Well that's what I've done before.

You should gradually go up to it because it's quite intense... maybe 70% cocoa then 90% and so on

Tastes awesome with an espresso

I just bought these guys a couple weeks ago, and they seem like they are good quality for the money. No issues pairing, charge quickly, and sound ok. Obviously not amazing, but good enough.

Before, I had these guys and I liked them, but they didn't stay in my ears as well as I had hoped, and the they weren't very loud.

u/TheDarkwaKnight · 1 pointr/powerlifting

https://positionusa.com/collections/shoes These guys are all an inch in heel height I believe, looks like most are sold out.

https://www.amazon.com/VS-Athletics-Weightlifting-Shoe-II/dp/B06VT8KT3S These guys have a 1.25 inch heel height, apparently size 10 is a 3.5 cm heel. ~ Apparently even walmart.com has them lmao. Izzy from powerlifting to win had the white versions of these to get a maximal bench arch.

My thoughts

Basically, do more sets than the 8-10 sets prescribed in typical templates. 12-15 sets is a good average for each of your speed days. And don't overuse accommodating resistance for your dynamic work - you can do most of your work with regular weight, though you can mix things up with the use of specialty bars.

Just got my new Texas Deadlift bar(it awsome!), and I'm looking for a cleaning kit/oil.

From amazon my cheapest option is actually the rogue cleaning kit(shipping the 3-in-1 oil is very expensive lol), anyone tried it? How is the oil and the brush? I know that Brandon Campbell is recommending on that brush in order to really get rid of all the chalk: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013OYR7AY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A5948IO45UAV1&psc=1 Should I add it to the Rogue kit?
