Dozois's Year's Best Sience Fiction is a good compilation of short fictions. This year's was especially great. I like my science fiction idea-based, exploring concepts and hypotheticals, and I thing the short-story format really lends itself to that.
Rudy Rucker keeps publishing great novels.
By other authors, Nod and 2312 were both very worth my time. Intrusion was excellent, The Dog Stars was excellent, there is just a lot of good books published if you look around for them.

The only explanation I could think of was if the author somehow implied that they were a Christian or that being a Christian had some bearing on their authority in the book's subject matter. For example if it was a book in raising your kids Christian, or something, it might be relevant that the author is not a Christian.

It makes me curious what book this was.

[Edit] The book is a biography of Jesus. This explains the context a little but the reviewer is still clearly out-of-line.

Incidentally there's a whole subset of popular culture based on this person's mindset. "Christian music," "Christian books," even "Christian movies." Walk into a Christian gift store sometime and look at what they have to offer. Think of the kind of person who exclusively consumes media that was created by Christians.

I knew that the corsair k70 RGB was coming out but i didn't particularly care about being able to change the color of the backlighting. I was actually looking at another craigslist posting which was selling a corsair k70 for $100, but the seller told me he was expecting to sell it later in the week. He texted me again on sunday asking if i was interested. I had to refuse since i had already arranged a meeting for the logitech g710+(or so i had thought). An hour or so after i had turned the corsair k70 seller away, i receive the messages saying the logitech had been sold. That was the primary reason why i was ticked off, when I was being courteous enough not to cancel a pre-arranged meeting, only to be shafted in return.

Still, all's well that ends well, i contacted the corsair seller as quickly as i could and managed to seal the deal the next day. So here i am typing on my first mechanical keyboard that looks much better than the logitech g710+ anyways.

The band was Stepa. We never made it huge, but we had some fun and I got to do so many things I never dreamed of doing. I played with a lot of bands I never thought I would be able to share the same stage with.

You don't have to use their modem as a router. You can use the modem functionality (you have to do this) and change the router config to be a network bridge only. Then use the wifi router of your choice to actually route traffic to your devices. The nice thing about this setup is that you can change internet providers at any time and not have to change your network setup at all. Its great, especially if you have a complex setup.

I followed these instructions and my main router is an Asus RT-N16 with the DD-WRT custom firmware on it.

OP: I have Time Warner Cable 50mbps package, and I can tell you that I definitely get the advertised speeds after a couple changes. The router/modem 2 in one that they ship out recently is total crap that overheats and doesn't know how to internet. Buy yourself a nice standalone modem and a dual band gigabit router. Also, if you're in a populated area, as stated before, make sure that your wifi channel is less used so that there is less interference. Since I have done that I have almost always gotten 50 megabits per second when I run speedtest.

Try seeing if it is your modem/router combo by pushing the reset pin, letting it cool down for a bit, then connecting to it again... they tend to go over time for some reason.

A few years ago nearing Christmas (circa 2013), there was a post on /r/pics how the OP caught his 16 year old neighbor stealing his packages. He used a $70 outdoor camera from Amazon - which was surprisingly not stolen- and waited (I saved the one he linked to in my wish list, but this is the updated version). Sure enough, the camera caught the girl from the moment she traveled the walkway to the moment she turned her head and swiped the package.

I can no longer find the thread, although I remember the OP writing in his update that he brought the pictures to the police and the neighbor admitted to everything, so he was considering not pressing charges.
