I only deal with open headphones so here's what I'd recommend. You can skip an amp with any of these and be fine.

Audio-Technica ath-ad900x - I have these with the exact setup you want. The modmic was a little annoying to get to attach right but it hasn't fallen off. They sound great but not a ton of low end. The head suspension thing is comfy but kinda fiddly. Steal a worn out hair tie from your girl and put it between the arms and then forget it's there. Recommended without hesitation.

Sennheiser HD598 - warm sound, comfy. Not much to say, they're easy to listen to, easy to drive, and they're reasonably priced. Also recommend without hesitation.

I'd advise against the DT-990s unless you can return them if you don't like them. The v-shape sound is very polarizing and you'll either like it or you won't. I found the highs to be like an ice pick to the brain with most things I listened to. Some well produced stuff sounded great but they're fatiguing to listen to. They are also the most uncomfortable headphones I've ever put on my head, ymmv. I returned them.

If you feel like hitting the top of your budget I LOVE my Philips Fidelio X2. These actually replaced my Audio-Technicas as my daily driver. Great bass, good mid range, little grainy on the highs but it isn't harsh and how much depends on the recording. They're really comfortable but also a little on the heavy side. Again, recommend you buy from somewhere you can return just in case.

Any other questions let me know.

I've had issues relating to depression and anxiety for well over 15 years. I actually quit drinking 4 years ago in part because of how it would throw me for these emotional roller-coaster rides that drove me down even further. Things have gotten much better and I've sought help but its still a daily process for me, which is now much more manageable. For some reason a long time ago I developed a stigma against myself in that I believe I'm weak for not being able to handle and "control" these issues, but that couldn't be further from the truth. There is a large sense in relief in accepting it as part of who you are and as condition you can learn to live with. I would encourage you to seek professional help, and to keep an open mind. For me relief didn't come in the form of medication, but through other practices such as meditation, building a support group, seeking spiritual growth, and learning how to identify and communicate effectively when this is starting to take me for a ride. I have found the writings of Viktor Frankl to be my inspiration - though nothing ever changed for me by just reading a book... its the actions I have taken as a result that have really helped. I feel for you, and I wish you the best.

Hey guys, I wanted to share my impressions of this sweater that I bought in the recent Amazon sale. The description on Tate and yoko says that the fabric is loopwheeled, but I am positive that it isn't. Side seams are present on both the torso and the arms, so the tubular knit that is classic of loopwheeled sweaters is absent. Additionally, no mention of loopwheeled fabric is present on the description attached to the sweater. Those comments aside, the fabric is phenomenal. It is light and really does feel "airy" and incredibly soft. It is pretty thin, Tate and yoko says that the weight of the fabric is 10 oz, so it'd be a great fall/spring sweater. The fabric looks very slubby and has a beautiful vertical streakiness to it due to the uneven dyeing. I'm not sure exactly what the process is, but I didn't notice any obvious crocking, so I don't think this will fade to any measurable degree in the short term. In terms of fit, I sized up because people said that the length is very short and barely hits the waist. I found the exact opposite to be true, it's absolutely massive, so much so that I'm exchanging for a size down. I'm sure that it would shrink if given a hot wash, but I'm reluctant to try that.

Overall, I think the sweater is a great value and for $24, it's a steal. Unfortunately, it's not loopwheeled, but there's a reason that true Japanese loopwheeled sweaters are listed for such a high price.

I don't have too much experience with a lot of the cheaper end light equipment, but I think I can safely say that almost everything on the cheaper end will be about the same. However, LumoPro does have a pretty good reputation and is often recommended.

The thing with a lot of the cheaper stuff is that the stands are simply just not as sturdy and won't hold up to stress/weight as well as more expensive ones. Especially once/if you start getting into using larger and more powerful lights as opposed to standard camera mounted flash guns, this will start to become an issue. One thing I will suggest though is to try and get a boom stand. A boom stand will always be more versatile than a straight stand and you will find that especially if you're taking photos of things laying flat on the floor, it's significantly easier to mount a light pointing downward on a boom than to awkwardly hold your stand or attempt to point it downwards.

Recommendations all depend on budget, but sort of guessing yours by what you linked this is the cheapest decent boom I could fine. Booms do tend to be quite pricey with a lot of quality models going to upwards of $200. However, I think $50 for this one is a pretty good deal.

If anyone needs a weekender bag, I can wholeheartedly recommend this one from Amazon as a great budget option. I got one for Christmas, and waxed it with otter wax, and then didn't use it until this past weekend. But it worked great for a few days worth of stuff and I was really impressed with the pockets. Only thing that would make it better would be a shoe compartment, but I'm fine without for this price. Oh, and a grey strap to match the grey canvas would have been nice as well. I just wanted to state this in case anyone is looking for a cheap weekend bag option.

Spent the weekend on the beaches of Lake Michigan and had a great time. The lake was choppy as hell so we didn't get to swim really, but we had a fun time nonetheless. It felt real nice to get away for a weekend.

Doesn't have the same shine of American Crew pomade but I'm using Gatsby atm and I love it. Good hold for my short/medium hair and smells good as well.

I can't tell you about the stretch, but I have the Solid Black and I love them. They are vanity sized; check the size charts before ordering. Mine stretched over 1" in the waist with just a couple of wears. If you are in the US, buy them from Amazon with free return shipping, if needed. They also have the Black Red stretch with free return shipping, so you can try them both.

Very good. In the event my Santa needs some inspiration: books are great. I don't have any denim related reading, and /u/KingOCarrotFlowers informed me of a cool music series, so these books are on the wishlist to pick and choose from: 1 2 3 4 5 6. There's always the Steam wishlist and the winter sale is coming up.

I loved this book. Blue Blooded: Denim Hunters and Jeans Culture. Goes into the history of denim and different styles. Great photography! And has some familiar faces pop up!

Im looking to buy a denim jacket, I was wondering what color I should go with.

I were dark colored jeans and will be getting my first pair of raw my next pay day. Here are the jackets I am looking at (i know they are not raw but I figured this would be the best place to ask.)

First of all, shoutouts to /u/rcsAlex for spearheading the feedback thread last night! It's awesome that the mods want to continue improving this community by asking what the people want.

I've been reading this book. It's pretty interesting, but I'm not too deep into it yet. And I got a blister on my middle finger from pulling weeds today :C

Oh hey, I'm doing WFH Friday too! My entire office fucking empties on Friday, last week I was literally one of the two people there.

Coffee talk? Coffee talk.

You need to get a chemex, for sure. It's probably the most forgiving pourover-style coffee maker. But if you're looking for outrageously easy tasty coffee, you could look into getting an automatic pourover machine, like the Bonavita coffee thingy.

I have a few pairs of people's socks that are really nice and reasonably priced for high quality MiUSA wool socks. They ship w/ amazon prime so that's also cool.

u/Dcs87 · 1 pointr/rawdenim

I like this stuff. It's got a nice hold but stays fairly malleable so you can reposition with a comb. It seems like if you put it in your hair when it's a bit wet still it gets a bit crunchier and less malleable though.

u/svalbard_is_my_name · 1 pointr/rawdenim

I just got my hands on this: Practical Guide to Patternmaking for Fashion Designers: Menswear

Looks good and detailed, but easy to read.

Edit: Got it used. Cheaper.

u/Salsa_Z5 · 2 pointsr/rawdenim

I love my Chemex, I usually make it on the weekends when I have some more time. Otherwise I use this Bonavita

u/Billthebutchr · 3 pointsr/rawdenim

I personally started with this. Great info.

u/RhinoMan2112 · 1 pointr/rawdenim

These look exactly like my pair of N&F low-rise, these ones. Fairly sure it's those.

Edit - whoops, nevermind. Just saw the patch.

u/AnAdviceSeeker · 1 pointr/rawdenim

Cool. I've actually just located these Stretch Selvedge ones on Amazon, where I have a gift credit available that would bring them under $100. It says they're a 35 length, but the measurements on Blue Owl suggest differently, unless these are not the same pairs.

u/zortnarftroz · 3 pointsr/rawdenim

Costco's Kirklands aren't bad and People's socks from amazon are nice too, this from a Minneapolis native.

u/zenossuspension · 3 pointsr/rawdenim

I haven't vetted this book yet, but feel like it has relevance/potential.

u/KingOCarrotFlowers · 2 pointsr/rawdenim

I do know a lot about it.

I have a book. This book. It's quite good and informative.

u/paintedxblack · 4 pointsr/rawdenim

u/workweardenimhead got me this book Blue Blooded for Secret Santa, and I really enjoyed it. It has plenty of info you'll already know, but some other cool info, plus several brand/designer profiles. https://www.amazon.com/dp/3899556461/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_bMEHAbAPMAY7D (Sorry for the long link - I'm on mobile and cba looking up a link shortener 😬)

u/Vegatheist · 1 pointr/rawdenim

I've only ever seen this book mentioned here.
