The top brands are Logitech, Razer, and Steelseries.
Here are some recomendations:
Razer Deathadder (for FPS) - THe DeathAdder is the staple for a lot of FPS gamers. Simple, smooth, responsive, and comfortable. Personally I love the feel of this mouse in my hand and it is quality built.
Logitech G700s (FPS/MMO)- The G700s is one of the best rechargible gaming mice with long lasting battery so you don't have to worry about it dying mid game. Also with over 13 programmable buttons on the mouse it's great for MMO and MOBA games! Personally I've only used this mouse a limited amount so I can't say just how long the battery lasts but it is REALLY comfortable in the hand and has great response.
Logitech Proteus - (FPS/MMO) - Great customizable mouse with variable weights and adjustable palm rest. 11 customizable buttons. Perssonally I haven't used this mouse but heard good things about it.
Steelseries Sensi (FPS) - I can't praise this thing enough. Smooth, comfy, basic and beautiful! Personally I have this mouse personally and love it. it's not fancy but boy does it just work!
Wow. Thank you for such an in depth response, I sincerely appreciate it.
I'm not going to drop out of school or anything, I feel like I need it right now to provide me with some sort of structure. When I'm not going to school (full time student, not working much right now) I tend to just sit around and drink beer lol. However I am taking more artistic classes now, Film, Graphic Design, Photoshop, Screenprinting, and loving it. I'm actually waking up earlier and being on time to class for once in my life. Its a very nice feeling. But the thing that amazes me most, is that I'm enjoying screenprinting so much that its bringing me back to some of my roots when I used to spraypaint stencils and wheatpaste back in highschool. It was a blast and I don't really know why I ever stopped.
As for the font books, I've never looked into something like that before, so after some googling, do you mean stuff like this? Also would taking a typography class be beneficial? I thought about taking one anyways and I get free schooling thanks to our wonderful tax payers, so it wouldn't really cost me anything to enroll. Also in this same vein do you think taking some basic drawing or 2-d design classes would be beneficial? I've never done anything with art really outside of creating stencils in photoshop, hand cutting, and spraying, so I don't know any of the technicalities related.
I watched the videos and it amazes me how in control of their whole arms they are lol. It reminds me of those camera men where they walk around and the camera stays perfectly steady lol. Lots of whole body movement with the hand in total control. Super straight lines while walking the length of the wall lol I doubt I can do that right now :P
Should I just like buy a huge sheet of plywood from home depot to practice on in the safety of my backyard with all the time in the world?
As for the rules I already know the basics about what you should and shouldn't go over and places not to put up on, but I definitely will watch Style Wars, I have it downloaded in my to watch later folder already :P This just means I have to watch it next, been putting it off for a long time.
Again thank you so much for your input man :)
Edit: Also, great thread idea by the way
well up until this weekend I was running 3 BenQ GL2760H 27-inch monitors {photo of the setup} and this was my setup for quite some time (since April lolz). I also have a 4K Samsung monitor in that photo. I'm getting rid of the monitors because most games do not support triple monitors and I'm tired of the UI issues...some games are completely unplayable with 3 monitors (like Shadow of Mordor).
Right now, I'm in the middle of dumping my monitors and getting a new one. I'm in the process of selling one of the BenQ's to teeREKT and another was just sold on Amazon. I might be considering selling my last one (my only concern is trying to console game on my new monitor with it's aspect ratio of 21:9).
My new monitor (which is coming on Wednesday) is the Acer XR341CK. 34" Ultrawide curved IPS 3440x1440 resolution, 4ms response time, AMD FreeSync (range from 35Hz^^? to 75Hz...FreeSync/G Sync is a new technology where the monitor has a variable refresh rate and works with your GPU; whatever FPS your GPU is putting out is matched by the Hz of the monitor. This means if my FPS drops down to 40 from 60, I shouldn't see any issue (input lag/screen tearing) and theoretically I could have VSync on without any issues...with VSync on, dropping down to just 59 FPS on a 60Hz monitor would mean that it locks your FPS to 30 or 45 (a multiple of your monitor's refresh rate) so that it can be sure that there's no screen tearing...but this increases input lag usually). If there isn't a battlestation thread on Wednesday, I'll post images of my new setup and start one.
EDIT: As for your monitor, I personally find 60Hz to be fine but it's the mantra of PCMasterRace that anything not 144Hz is garbage. IPS is great colors and viewing angles, but are notorious for light bleed issues (only a problem if you game without lights on and play/watch content that has a lot of blacks, or you need true color representation across every inch of the panel). TN panels are going to be cheaper and you can get 144Hz fairly reasonable; 1440p at 144Hz is fairly expensive still (hard to refresh that many pixels that quickly) so if you want that sweet sweet 144Hz in your budget, you'll have to stick with 1080p more than likely. 5ms or less is the recommended sweet spot for response time; 1ms is only needed for the competitive side IMO. There's another type of panel (like APV or something like that) which is generally better but it's new^^? and better so the price is higher. G Sync is going to be out of your price range right now. Flickerless is a good benefit to have; less eye-strain. I would also recommend a monitor that has a 'low blue light' mode if you're going to game at night a lot; blue light affects our body, telling it that the sun is out so we need to be awake (reduces the melatonin generated by your body at night).
Just some general thoughts on monitor shopping. BenQ is kinda the gaming standard right now, but specs are more important than brand.

starting to realize I have a lot of random info in my brain that I never get to use lol
I have an Energizer Charge station for my XB1 controllers, and I use an Ikea fold away hook to hang my headset on. I put the cables in the drawers where my XB1 sits. IKEA EXPIDIT are awesome for console storage, though I have a nice Entertainment Center in the living room with my Wii (no U) and 360 (I use the 360 version of the same Energizer stations here as well) along with the controllers and headset for that TV.

Asus is absolute shit, do not buy that. Based on what you linked though, my recommendation is this Dell Inspiron 13" 2-in-1
http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-13-7359-laptop/pd?oc=fncww5010h&model_id=inspiron-13-7359-laptop
I have bought a bunch of similar models for work and they are perfect for what you're looking for. Don't buy into the i3 vs i5 marketing, you'll see absolutely no difference in the real world. See this comparison:
http://ark.intel.com/compare/88193,88180
Anyway, how tech savvy are you? If you're not comfortable tinkering with electronics a bit, I'd be happy to walk you through the steps, because with a laptop in this range you'll want some upgrades.
You'll notice both laptops come with traditional hard drives. While they have larger capacities, they are slow and unreliable.
You'll want to replace it with an SSD which will make it so much faster. Trust me, it'll feel like a laptop you paid 2x as much for. I recommend this SSD which is an insanely good deal for the upgrade you'd get:
http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-BX200-240GB-Internal-Solid/dp/B016JREGAC/
Next, upgrade with the single stick of 8GB of RAM:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007B5S52C
Both of these upgrades are very easy to install, all you need is a small philips head screwdriver to remove the bottom cover. I happen to have one of these laptops with me right now so I can send you detailed photo instructions if you like.
Before replacing the hard drive though, you'll need to use a USB drive to create reinstallation media and reinstall Windows 10 on the new drive. This is the trickiest part, but not terribly difficult: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/create-a-recovery-drive
Keep in mind that any laptop in this range isn't going to have great graphics. You can probably play basic games on low settings but don't expect great gaming from it.
If you have any questions fire away! I do this shit for a living yo.
Dang, you just missed out on some good external HDD deals. I picked up this 4TB Western Digital MyBook for $100. If you don't care about the space factor, or having to have a separate power connection, I think the MyBook's will probably be your best bet as far as $/TB.
In general, I personally think the brands are a wash. There will be complaints about certain manufacturers from everyone, but in general, you're looking for best price per TB. I'll keep my eye out and send you links if I find any good deals in the next few weeks.
Ok. Gotcha. The problem is that you have a 360 headset, and using the stereo chat adapter.
On the 360 the wire that went from the controller to the little in-line mixer was only for chat (mic and audio). When you use the new stereo chat adapter it does its' own mixing.
Then MS removed the "play through both" option too.
So there's a few things you can do:
http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-4Shot-Headphone-Blue-Xbox/dp/B00E1L78TK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1421191897&sr=8-3&keywords=polk+four+shot
My head is just too big for that headset. But sound quality is good. I got it for $60 on sale, and I just took the stereo MS chat adapter out of it since I needed it. Haven't used it since. $35 if you're interested!
I need to play some IB with you after we win the clan war this weekend. I might try and just grind out IB rank 5 on Monday when the XP is insane.
I bought this monitor back in September when Destiny came out and absolutely love it, it's absolutely great for FPS. Scroll down and read about all the bells and whistles it has, but I remember just plugging it in and it was already good to go.
I have 3 of these and they are rediculosly good.

Panasonic VIERA is the best plasma tv you can buy and you can get it under 1k. It has netflix, pandora, wireless and everything else you could want. I got them off amazon about two years ago, so mine is an older model but this is the exact same feature set and I paid like 900$ at the time.
Edit: I just saw your wanting a 55+ inch, which screws it up. Thats like $1500

You can regularly find the Kingston HyperX Clouds for $64 on Amazon.
http://amzn.com/B00JJNQG98 Keep checking the Amazon Warehouse deals under the used link.
I have a lot of different headsets, including various Astros, Sennheiser HD650s, and heavily modded Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 with a vmoda boompro mic. So far I really like the one I got a couple weeks ago for $64.
If interested, I can share some links to read.
I use this one http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-U2312HM-IPS-Monitor/dp/B005LN1JEC
It's pretty good for xbox gaming. If you want to do some PC gaming on it too i'd recommend that you get a 120Hz+ monitor though
Yeah, I still don't even fully get F2L it's pretty hard to get. I have a Dayan Guhong v2, it's a great cube, never had any problems with it. The version I linked is stickerless but I got the stickered one. I wish mine was stickerless.
Could just get something like this and customize every key.
I have a Razer Black Window and I love it, they are releasing a new version soon that would make this idea awesome. Custom key caps on the new black widow and change the light scheme to match.
