Hi! Welcome to the wonderful world of Reiki! This subject is actually quite controversial and often debated here, so you should view all opinions with that in mind.

My opinion is that online Reiki training can be incredibly beneficial for teaching certain parts of Reiki, but can not be a substitute for in-person teachings, and atunements are absolutely required to be in-person.

It's essentially like learning from a book (I'd recommend The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui which is amazingly informative and a wonderful resource); you can get the theory, the hand positions, even the supposedly restricted symbols are prevalent online, but there can be no atunement without direct learning from a Reiki Master Teacher.

I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions. Blessings upon your journey.

Although I don't neccessarily say you need to shop here, this ladies work rocked my world, and also gave me excellent visuals to show students.

Both of those are excellent reads for light workers / healers.
I can also recomend this one - http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Reiki-Complete-Ancient-Healing/dp/0895947366. I have a few other books that may help but those are the ones that most of my friends look at and say "can I borrow this?". I can't condone anything illegal, but you may try searching a few torrent sites with these ISBN's. You never know what people are sharing now days. But eventually you are going to want your own copies. Because, yeah, they're good. :)

With Reiki, it's important to remember to be as clear as possible when letting reiki flow. It's possible your own expectations are blocking or inhibiting the flow.

As reiki level 2 also operates at a higher frequency, it's possible the energies have become more subtler than you're used to.

It would be interesting to hear what your clients have to say when comparing different treatments to see if they feel anything different.

As for alternatives, I've found two of Brett Bevell's books to be quite good.

[The Reiki Magic Guide to Self-attunement] (http://www.amazon.com/Reiki-Magic-Guide-Self-attunement/dp/1580911846) is a good place to start. You can try the self-attunements, but the stuff I really liked was the Sahu attunement and the possibilities it opens.

His other book, New Reiki Software for Divine Living, provides a reiki tool which really changed things for me and allowed me to layer treatments during my sessions.

I use the reiki tools provided in the books on a daily basis and it really accelerated my use of reiki past the second degree training I received.

I recommend Best Massage tables on Amazon. Make sure you get one with a "Reiki endplate" that means there is an opening at each end to get your knees under when sitting. Many massage tables have an X at the ends and that is no good for Reiki. There is no need to spend more than $150 on a table..ever. I am a full time Reiki/energy healer and have been using the Best Massage tables for years.

Best book resource would be The Reiki Sourcebook by Bronwen and Frans Steine. My favorite online resource is aetw.org. Reiki tends to be one of the basic and entry-level energy practices for most people and it's quite limited in that it has specific hand positions and a few symbols, but most people won't explain the meaning behind the symbols in anything but a superficial way. The book I mentioned above helps to go deeper into their meanings and uses. I also posted an energy exercise on my profile called "Singing Chakra Balancing Technique" that can basically replace using the symbols. The symbols were meant to be training wheels for those who can't feel energy and have no power in and of themselves, so if you are interested in Reiki, you should learn them but don't feel limited to using them if your intuition tells you otherwise.

This is my favorite book on reiki. https://www.amazon.com/Foundations-Reiki-Ryoho-Manual-Shoden/dp/1620556731

I’m still pretty new to reiki as I’ve been practicing for almost 6 months now. I had so many questions when I started and that book helped immensely. It also has a lot of reiki exercises you can do, including hatsurei ho. One thing that I’m trying to focus on in my own practice is to let go of the egoic need to “do something”. My understanding of reiki is that your not doing reiki, so much as you are trying to be present and be an empty vessel for reiki to flow through you.

So anyway it’s probably normal. Just remember to have fun and enjoy the experiences as they happen.

Hey Kay, See my post from yesterday in the subreddit - I posted a full 4 part introductory course to Reiki (which is free to join)

In regards to books I recommend the following book: Reiki Made Easy: Heal Your Body and Your Life with the Power of Universal Energy: Author Torsten A . Lange

Here is a link to Amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reiki-Made-Easy-Universal-Energy/dp/1788172477/ref=dp_ob_title_bk

I agree with everything said above.

While we're talking about Energy Healing modalities that don't require 'special access', I'm a big fan of Quantum Touch.

Many alternate healing modalities work nicely and synergistically with Reiki, so there's no reason not to learn as much as you can.

  1. Line up some people to practice on while you are awaiting reiki II.
  2. Do your self reiki and gassho every day
  3. Start reading about reiki history and theory so you can contextualize what you've learned and what you are going to learn. I recommend "The Reiki Sourcebook" (https://smile.amazon.com/Reiki-Sourcebook-Revised-Expanded/dp/1846941814?sa-no-redirect=1) and "Essential Reiki" (https://smile.amazon.com/Essential-Reiki-Complete-Ancient-Healing/dp/0895947366/ref=sr_1_1?)

Here's an example of a popular Reiki card desk: https://www.amazon.com/Living-Reiki-Healing-Tarcher-Inspiration/dp/0399168133. Generally, they're cards that have guided techniques for reference.

Everything's paranormal, nothing is paranormal :-)

I guess what you are talking about belongs to some sort of intuition.

In fifteen years I had a lot doing Reiki and I wrote a book about it https://www.amazon.com/Intuition-Knowledge-Techniques-Extrasensory-Perception-ebook/dp/B07Y78B1VZ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=intuition+Marco+cattaneo&qid=1571164617&sr=8-1
