Before we get to the merchandise I'd like to note that the stores will be open for around 2-4 hours depending on your location so check ahead online for your stores hours and be sure to get there around 3 hours early if you want to get everything you want as people mentioned the store has eventually sold out of product.

Okay so if you can't make it to any of the stops and must resort to eBay, expect many people to go only to resell on there so don't pay crazy prices at first because the prices will always eventually drop. I would say don't pay more than double but I know what it's like to be really desperate for something.

Yeah, the various comic books subreddits have some great beginner reading guides, check their sidebars, most of them centered around a specific hero or something. As for procuring them, your local library probably has trade paperback editions, which are usually like 10 issues that form one contained story, might be worth it just to stop and browse. But also comic piracy is easy and widespread, i recommend ComicRack for a CBR reader, but Marvel Unlimited is pretty worth it, and DCs upcoming service might be too.

Most of the big crossover events arent that great, you have different writers writing the same characters at the same time and it winds up being a big mess, but some of the smaller crossover events that are more self contained are ok. DC does have a lot more self contained books, like you dont need much Batman knowledge to pick up The Killing Joke or Year One or something.

Given whats hot right now, i wouldnt necessarily recommend the original Infinity saga, but if you really want to jump in with both feet, this is a lot of fun.

If you’re doing some browsing online you’ll see that you can also buy individual comics, or volumes which are half the comics in a season in one book. The cheapest per comic is to buy the full book which is what I have linked above.

If you’re a fan of the show, I definitely recommend the comics. They are a good length, stand alone, and are different stories from the show. There’s a Jerry and Doofus rick one, a ball fondlers one, etc.
That and the full books are VERY well made, I’m honestly impressed. And they include a section that has the cover art for all the individual comics and the volumes so you can see that art to.

I've had good luck with this one. Used it at my Dad's house when my brother and his kids came for a visit and then again at my cousin's house on the side of a barn out in the country. Scaled really nice IMHO! And at that price who is complaining?

My advice; get the lab coat, wig & unibrow from spirit costume. On the coat it will have the front opening the way you want it with the light lime green interior lining & no pockets where you don’t want them. And then take the coat to a tailor; preferably a good one. I’m tall and lanky like Rick so the standard coat fits me like a circus tent. It cost me more to tailor it than I paid for the coat, but you can get the shoulders right, the sleeves slimmed out along with the width of the full length of the coat brought in as well. I also recommend you show the tailor a clip of Rick (I chose the love rant.) Mine pointed out there’s a slight taper at the bottom after watching the clip.

Besides that I by chance already had the brown pants from goodwill a while back. The belt was fairly easy. You can choose between the one you slide in and fiddle with a little locking rod, but from experience with those in the navy they can be a bitch & a half to line up. The wig you will have to quaff/ mold to get it to stand right, and the unibrow for full expressions without looking janky will have to be spirit glued onto your actual eyebrows. Warning (not from experience, but still a fleeting idea of a possibility): do not put yourself in a situation around dickwhistles who will attempt to rip off your unibrow. Being spirit glued it will also take off your real eyebrows.

Get some white face paint at the Halloween store and use it sparingly to pale yourself out. Start with a little bit & spread it out to the best of your ability. If not pale enough, use a little bit more & repeat.

Portal gun is an easy accessory to find & if you’re having trouble finding it, then you should be ashamed of yourself & not even dress up as Rick as you are that much of a dipshit; consider changing costumes to Morty at that point.

Shoes I found at Ross. Porter Ellis portfolio: black, shiny (not too shiny), laces can be tucked in & give you the general foot shape Rick has. I wear 10 1/2 - 11 in vans & having a choice between Porter’s 10 1/2 & 9 1/2, I went with the 9 1/2’s. The toes are pointy but rounded off. Depending on how wide your feet are, you can get away with a smaller size to reduce that elongated appearance from the extra rounded point. I test wore them at work (which reminds me to add these can be multi-purposed if you don’t fuck them up while you’re getting schwifty) and found it’s mildly similar to the Japanese method of women breaking their feet to fit small shoes, but with being a tight fit it was not at all painful as my toes were not touching the front tips.

If this is too much work, by all means be a Jerry and half ass it, but I invested this year in a costume that will carry on for years to come.

My biggest takeaway isn’t going to be Halloween, but wandering Ren fair next weekend getting rickety-rickety Wrecked son!

It's on google drive, so there shouldn't be any issues for anybody. The typical websites that host the comics are usually unsafe places to be browsing. But now that most of it is on my google drive, it's way safer.

They put a lot of work into these things, so I also suggest getting physical copies of the comic to support them.

And for anybody who has to get shit done today, be warned. It can easily take 3 hours or so to read through them all. I take no responsibility if you binge read them when you've got shit to do.
