I do have a suggestion after getting and letting several cheaper boxes go....I did not care for Wolf boxes at all. I did however find an unexpected gem in a catalog at the AD. It is from a company called Bey Berk who sells all kinds of boxes and humidors, etc. It really is a solid box and and they have a range of cheaper and more expensive of course. Any competent watchmaker could polish that out as well.
As far as too deep.... It all comes down to how much surrounding metal you want to loose. Usually if your fingernail catches good on it, it won't come out unless you really polish the hell out of it.
