Sure :) If your concerned about it I would recommend that you take extra care of your face (moisturize to keep it elastic and do regular face exercises) as well as your body (sports drinks like this which help muscles repair, supplements, rotating toning excercises, and eating right will assist the body in going back to place). It's easier to avoid signs in the face when you lose weight and build muscle over a long period of time (year+ rather than months) so the body can rest and heal at it's own pace. Good luck if/when you do!

Hey all, this is my first post to the sub - I mostly just lurk. But I was so happy when I read your comments on this article. I'm an art historian and I work on how people expressed non-dominant/non-heteronormative identities in the past. I was super thrilled to see you guys interested in lgbtq+ history, so I've left a few links for you to have a look at (they're mostly uk based as that's what I work on)

A lot of people experience severely worsened anxiety from weed, particularly high THC/low CBD strains, which currently dominate the market. Some people find it useful or at least less frightening (a la the Bob Marley quote "herb reveals you to yourself"), some people find it intolerable.

I in my infinite capacity as a self-ordained cybershaman have three pieces of advice;

One, try eating the weed instead. Eating it can be extremely intense, so start with a 5mg THC dose and move from there. When you take the right amount, it's a lot more gentle than smoking, there's no initial rush. People are used to the idea of a rush of speed or heroin, but smoked or vaped weed has a rush too, and that rush is semi-psychedelic and decompartmentalizes the parts of our mind that are dissociating from each other to compensate for our lack of general comfort. Eating weed will achieve that end as well, but much more slowly.

Two, try a strain with equal THC/CBD; CBD has a different cascade of effects than THC, and dramatically alters the effect and length of the THC high.

Three, and this one's the big one; try a Kava Kava extract. It's the best thing I've ever taken for anxiety. It's even more effective than benzos for me, and it doesn't make me want to sleep forever. You will love it, but not in a fiendish way. It's not recommended for daily usage and can cause skin irritation and digestive issues if used constantly, but a few times a week is an excellent way to help learn to deal with anxious situations or make yourself approach life when anxious in general.

The special editor of this issue was Martin Manalansan, who's done great work on queer diaspora! He also used to be the co-chair of the Association of Queer Anthropology, so I'm guessing he picked out the image. Nice to know he's a drag race fun! Here's his book Global Divas, which totally applies to Manila.

Feminism is a really vast field, with so many different stances within it. People who deride feminism when they actually disagree with a single theory or theorist are equivalent to people saying physics is terrible because they disagree with Newton.

To be frank, the anti-feminist backlash has existed since feminism existed and a single theorist/activist is not the cause of it.

The point bell hooks is making is that people should embrace their natural beauty without feeling the need to conform to what the mainstream thinks deems beautiful. She is saying that black is beautiful, and she is saying this to a world that has an extreme and well-documented history of derogating blackness. This is a powerful and valuable perspective, whether or not you agree with her take on blonde wigs.

Here's the one I got off Amazon. It has some stitching issues, but otherwise it's pretty great.

I can't remember where, possibly Workin' It, I read that apparently Mathu has a knack for the symmetry/proportions of faces. Ru said something like that Mathu would just be able to look at someone's painted mug and be able to say like, 'Do this more..' 'Fix that..' etc. That talent, applied to wigs, pretty much.

If this article speaks to you I highly recommend the book Blossom of Bone . Super good!

What is this magic? They'll be at my house in two days. Holy shit I love Amazon Prime. Here, I'll return the favor: I swear by this eyeshadow palette. 252 colors for $30, and if you really love one just order a pot of that one off their website.

I actually have a book by that name. It's filled with tons of good literary-drink puns including: Gin Eyre, Crime and Punish-mint, The Pitcher of Dorian Grey Goose, The Joy Luck Club Soda, and A Cocktail of Two Cities.
I guess Gin Eyre is also a good drag name.

I agree with all of this. I have type 1 Bipolar disorder, and I one of the consequences of that is that I have to make sure that I don't drink caffeine or alcohol or do drugs to self medicate, but I'm very often tempted because of my moods.

A lot of bipolar people drink when they're too up and use uppers when they're too down (classically bipolar people like cocaine, but Sharon has said before that she's used a lot of meth). It can be really easy to become dependent because you can feel more even when you're self medicating, but you won't be even when you're not because your brain chemistry just doesn't allow that.

I recommend this book: http://www.amazon.com/Touched-Fire-Manic-Depressive-Artistic-Temperament/dp/068483183X

A good book is How to Survive the Loss of a Love.

It’s a cheesy book from the 70s, but it helps. xo

Edit: it looks like it’s online here.

this brand.

There’s two different color packs, I bought both because I really wanted the neon pink! But need the black and white definitely. They work really well on the leather materials, I’m very happy with them. So far everything’s been annoying on denim and cotton jackets; too porous and textured... I must just stick with the faux and real leathers
