I've had (and fixed) this exact problem!

You need to order these switches, and you're gonna need a soldering iron with a very precise tip, and a lot of patience. You should be able to find Youtube videos on how to open up the cam and get to the right place to fix it, IIRC that's how I did it.

I bought one of those assortment bags with about a million GoPro mounts and straps and headbands and body-harnesses, etc... and they all work fine with my SJ5000 Plus.
But yeah, like others have said, the waterproof cases are not interchangable.
