I said cheaper, not better. I have the 250 gts 1gb and it's ok but it'll never be GREAT. My upgrade, and the op SHOULD do this, is a 460 (the 5xx geforce series seems to run a bit hot, even if the performance is great) or wait for the 6xx series to come out and nVidia partners to make the 5xx series better.
But if op wanted an upgrade right now, you can get the 8800 gt or gtx for cheap (GTS even cheaper, like this : http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-8800GTS-PCIe-Video/dp/B000KFWFHG ) but that's just going to be a bare minimum upgrade. The OP SHOULD go higher.
Edit : I upvoted tobyreddit for good advice. The provided link is a 50-80 dollar upgrade. Dirt cheap to get acceptable, but not great, performance now and save up for a GOOD video card later. But if the OP can go to around 120, http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Performance-Mini-HDMI-Graphics-01G-P3-1450-TR/dp/B0041RRNBM/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_2 is MUCH better.
Preheat the oven to 180C/350F. To prepare the baking tin, spray non-stick baking spray into the pan so the sweetrolls will come out easily. Do not overspray.
In a large bowl cream the butter, sugar, vanilla extract and maple syrup together until pale and creamy. Add the eggs one and a time and mix well.
Sift in the self-raising flour and cinnamon then add the milk and stir gently until a smooth batter forms.
Fill the prepared muffin tray with the batter, filling each well nearly to the top and place in the pre-heated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown (a skewer inserted should come out clean when cooked thoroughly). Set aside and allow to cool completely while you prepare the frosting.
For the Sweet Rolls:
180g / 1 Cup Butter (Room Temperature)
175g / ¾ Cup White Caster Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
2 Eggs (Room Temperature)
250g / 2 Cups Self-Raising Flour [MEASURE 250g ON A SCALE]
2 Teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
125ml / ½ Cup Milk
For the Frosting:
200g / 1 Cup Cream Cheese
55g / ¼ Cup Butter
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
125g / 1 Cup Icing/Confectioners Sugar
Remove the rolls from the tin and let cool completely, about 1 hour.
•Carefully slice the puffy top off . Turn the cake upside down so that the cut top is now the bottom.
Cut a small hole in the top of the cake that’s about 1cm deep and 1cm across.
Dip roll into glaze once, remove, wait 10 minutes, then dip a second time. Let sit for a minute.
•Enjoy your sweetrolls!

Ok, but actually the Sweet Rolls really lived up the the hype. Yeasty, bready pastry with a nice cream cheese icing. Also, fittingly my dog Opalstole 3 sweet rolls off the cooling rack while I ran to the liquor store...
Etsy have some beautiful gaming prints. I can understand a non gaming wife not wanting an obvious gaming print on the wall. Have you had any luck finding him a gift? If you are still stuck you could take a punt on a Skyrim game guide and hope he hasn't already got it, or have a look at this:
https://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Skyrim-Library-Histories/dp/1783293195/ref=pd_sbs_14_t_0?
_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=S0PB9C75904MF0ZDF4JA
I thought it sounded like a nice thing to have on the book shelf. It's a complilation of all of the little books that you find in Skyrim. You should definitely get youself that print.
r/buildapc and r/buildapcforme will help you out a ton. There are tons of redditors whose hobby is to help people in exactly your situation. If you're willing to put in the time to read a bit and maybe watch a youtube tutorial, you can end up with a machine that you can run virtually any game on for years.
If you need a laptop for other reasons (or just prefer the ability to game outside of your room), that's another story. If you're sure you want a laptop, you can get one with very good specs for ~$1000. This one, this one, and this one are all good options: they offer a current-gen CPU, a GTX 1060, 16GB RAM, and numerous other desirable features.
Many people are wondering if they still can buy the original edition of Skyrim on Steam. For obvious reasons, when you search for Skyrim, the Steam search engine directs people who want to buy the game to the special edition and hides the original version.
Even The Elder Scrolls official web-site no longer mentions the original edition, for them only the special one exists.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition and The Elder Scrolls Anthology have also disappeared from Steam; these two can be found on online stores though.
So here is where you can buy the original edition of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Steam.
If you like to buy it boxed (with a map included), you can still find it on online stores
Share, please!
Thank you!
It's a bit expensive, but you can definitely set up a controller for couch playing, assuming your PC can be hooked up to your television.
Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows
Since you said you have a PS3 I assume that means you don't already own a 360 controller, but if you do then you can buy this and save a ton of money.
Skyrim comes with native Xbox 360 controller support, as was explained in one of the demos. Todd Howard said that he was using a 360 controller, but that he was playing on PC.
Best Buy is having a sale on this boxed set FOR ONLY 15 BUCKS!
For this cheap you can get a great gift for someone who dosent already have it or if you yourself have been wanting to play skyrim.
I bought this last year and have put about 1200 hours into all the games of you add them up. In this boxed set you get all 5 of the elder scrolls game INCLUDING their dlc. the only elder scrolls game you dont get is elder scrolls online.
Skyrim requires a steam account and comes with a code which will add morrowwind, oblivion, and skyrim to your steam account. All the games can be installed with the included disk and all the games except skyrim can be run without steam. (morrowind and oblivion can be run with or without steam, skyrim can also be installed with the disc but you cant play it unless you activate the code on your steam account.)
Only for PC.
Oh and you also get matching maps for each game.
edit It appears to have sold out? Good news though you can get it on amazon and walmart for 20 bucks still. http://www.amazon.com/The-Elder-Scrolls-Anthology-Pc/dp/B00E9I1FPI
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Elder-Scrolls-Anthology-PC/28201243
$20 for the Legendary version on Amazon. One of the best entertainment per dollar values I have ever seen. Unless that $20 means you will miss a meal, I would highly recommend it.
hello there friend
graphics wont look bad if your tv is good happy adventuring
They look really awesome mate. Looks like they're just big enough to fit my Morrowind 1 pint mug on :D

I'm not sure that's it, Freezer Paper is only waxed on one side, I'm not sure greaseproof paper is waxed in the same way. I don't think we have a UK equivalent (but I'm hoping I'm wrong).
I honestly can't imagine greaseproof baking paper sticking when ironed.
However, amazon UK and hobbycraft sell freezer paper, so we can still get it!

Thanks OP, you've opened up a whole new world for me by crossposting this.
Thanks to /u/Drew-fish I can say the best deal appears to be through Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Skyrim-Legendary-PC/dp/B00CJ7IUIQ
You're probably looking at about half a stick of butter in that photo. I used half of this recipe (except I used honey instead of maple syrup, as it was a traditional Viking sweetener) to make two, so that should give you a good idea.
However, you don't need to use that recipe! If you're looking to make something that resembles a sweetroll, find your favorite (healthy?) muffin recipe, bake it in this thing, and top it off with a frosting or icing of your choice.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows-Pc/dp/B000HZFCT2
Just buy this and you'll be fine! Good luck!
Lore books. Quite interesting.
Also recommend this one here. Seems like the big book version cant be buyed anymore:
https://www.amazon.de/Elder-Scrolls-Skyrim-Special-Collectors/dp/0744017831
Right now The Elder Scrolls Anthology is $20 on Amazon, so if you don't have the other games and don't mind waiting for it to ship you can get a really good deal, and as a bonus you get maps for each game. If you have the other games already you could also go with the Legendary Edition for $15, though you don't get the kick-ass maps with it.
There we go. get a guide and look up how to be a perfect character. read skyrim lore and learn all vanilla game glitches. have you played oblivion?

Might be a little more on the expensive side but Amazon sells The Skyrim Library - Volumes I, II & III (Box Set) Fantastic artwork and lots of Elder Scrolls history and lore
https://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Skyrim-Legendary-PC/dp/B00CJ7IUIQ?th=1&psc=1
So if I just went ahead and bought this, then how do I get it on my steam? If you change the platform of the game on amazon there is another choice called, PC online game code. Is it that one? Or just the one labeled, PC. Thanks for the help BTW.
I have one of these to use an Xbox 360 controller on PC back from when I first started PC (couldn't stand mouse and keyboard.) but now I actually love mouse and keyboard so I don't use it too often.
Not sure why people refuse to believe Legendary edition is only around $20. It's been that way for a bit, only certain places are continuing to over-charge.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CJ7IUIQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That's a link to buy it on Amazon, and it ships from Amazon. It's genuine, and I've bought two (one for the wife), AND it's only $15 (that's $5 cheaper than the one I bought for my wife, and $10 cheaper than the one I got for myself a few months earlier than the last). If you buy some other stuff to make your cart total $35+, the shipping is free.
Doesn't get much better than that.
If you don't want to buy from Amazon, then buy from somewhere that takes PayPal, as PayPal will refund your money if you don't get it or if it's a pirate copy.
(FYI, this is the DVD disc, plus obviously Steam so you can also DL it [after registration] if you, uh, like very slow installs. They also sell a direct DL link, PS3 and XBox360 versions, all cheaper than retail stores)
All the in-game books but, sadly, minus the books included in the DLCs.
Link here for anyone interested, it's really a gorgeous box set for a decent enough price.
They aren't based on novels like the Witcher. That said, there's a new lore series that I'm in love with.
Here's the first book link:

Thanks for the tip! I was hoping to have it flip back like a zen/yoga style and am not sure the ASUS rig does that? Many times, on plane flights there just isn't as much room on the tray tables and stuff
You can still play with the controller in the PC Version, you just have to get the XBOX Wireless controller connection kit. The game recognizes the controller automatically and adjusts the UI accordingly.
I use it this way on my iMac (Bootcamp) and it works perfectly.
100 books! You, sir, are a man after my own heart. I always collect them. By the way, you can buy a lovely bound edition of almost all the in-game books. Highly recommended.
Also, when you do start buying houses, you can put books in the bookshelves.
$21 on Amazon US. Don't know how shipping works to outside the US, I know I can order from Amazon UK and have it shipped here though.
Also, 21GBP on Amazon UK. Maybe compare shipping and see which is a better deal?
You can currently get it from this seller on amazon who has very good feedback and is about $7 off the lowest price ever. Or here's a good place to track prices. You're welcome
Yes! I read the first book they came out with (http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017) and it was great to read something from the Elder Scrolls series that I could hold. I wish they would come out with one for their Lore. I would buy the fuck out of it.
Last time I was at Target they had the Elder Scrolls Anthology for $39.99. I bought it for $29.99 on black Friday or whatever, but it's usually $49.99 I think. Anyway, includes everything from 1 - 5 and is a physical copy which I prefer.
Edit: Well Amazon has a few left in stock at even cheaper. Amazon Link It's not a bad buy to get all of them for PC.
There is one. http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017
A second book is being written right now. Honestly, it's okay. Not an amazing book, but a nice way to get your Elder Scrolls fix before Skyrim comes out.
It's super cheap on Amazon right now, that is if you don't mind a physical version.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y4GZS9C/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1
At $1100 USD, and $100 off sometimes, it's the best laptop with a GTX 1060

The whole anthology is on Amazon for $20. That's everything for skyrim, plus the older games too. It says "out of stock" though, so you'll get it within a few weeks after you order it. http://smile.amazon.com/The-Elder-Scrolls-Anthology-Pc/dp/B00E9I1FPI?sa-no-redirect=1
EDIT: if that's too rich for your blood, you don't want to wait quite that long, and you just want skyrim, the legendary edition is $14: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/30jdyu/the_elder_scrolls_v_skyrim_legendary_edition_pc/
> The only way you can buy it is from Steam.
http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-Pc/dp/B004HYIAPM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1376282493&sr=8-2&keywords=Skyrim
You can buy a boxed copy too though Skyrim uses Steamworks so you'll still need to be logged into Steam at least once to play. And you can mod with either the retail or Steam versions.
Steam Workshop and Nexus Mods will work, even both together. But for stability sake, stick with one or the other. Preferably the Nexus for the better manager and manual mod updates.
Your best bet for finding the adapter sold separate is probably online. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HZFCT2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3BVFOU06EC1JZ
my local Best Buy sells the adapter with a 360 Black Wireless for Windows controller in the PC Gamepad and Mouse section, but it is $59.99 for the pack.
Nuvision 2017 model. The 2016 model is a little cheaper but gpu performance is nearly double in the newer 2017 model.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MYZEPGP/ref=sxts1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484310202&sr=1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65
There are other tablets with the same x86 SoC.. Many have 1gb ram. Nuvision has 2gb ram. Only 32gb on board storage but a micro SD port. A major downside is you can't charge while using USB otg. That's why I choose bluetooth mouse and game pad. It has HDMI out so it can be a great htpc and gaming console. I haven't tried GameCube emulation yet but I think it might handle it.
$20 at amazon. Free shipping with Prime.

Totally worth it, has a lot of info in one place, comes with a bookmark and a nice map of Skyrim.
Xbox controllers are indeed plug-and-play. Windows will recognize them and auto-download the drivers.
However, to play wirelessly you'll still need a wireless USB adapter like so: http://amzn.com/B000HZFCT2
Well I mean theres the OBVIOUS choice
http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320577705&sr=8-1-spell

The two Elder Scrolls Novels that bridge some of the gap of the 200 years and also bring a lot of the back story and history into play.
If your going to spend that much on a laptop go for something like this
https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-Full-HD-Ultra-portable-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B071XDXLPG
It's 1080 card is more than enough to handle Skyrim SE. It may be a bit heavy compared the other laptop mentioned but it's by far a better rig
Bethesda sells it directly from their website, Amazon are the 2 most obvious places I can think of.

Amazon is selling it at about 40% off list price in the US. Amazon UK has a page for it, but it currently says unavailable. May be worth keeping an eye on it in case they get around to putting up some information.
They have art in them too, a good reason to buy even if you already have an ebook version.
https://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Skyrim-Library-Histories/dp/1783293195
It was just on sale on Steam last month so probably not any time soon. Also, if you can find it, the Elder Scrolls Anthology is usually cheaper and includes Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim with most of not all of the expansions.
Also, check Wal-Mart locally since they have a good price on the Anthology too
Daaaamn. I just saw the collection of all 3 on Amazon UK and I had no idea I wanted these until now. Didn't realise they had illustrations too, that makes them so much more worthwhile than just copy and pastes of the in-game texts. Same applies to the ESO set.

Wait! The Elder Scrolls Anthology is on sale on amazon. It has all of the Elder Scrolls games plus DLC! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E9I1FPI/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_AScZtb1TQNJPQ
It may be worth your time to wait for the Elder Scrolls Anthology to go on sale again. Picked it up for $20 and it has GOTY versions of all games and supposedly compatible versions of Arena and Daggerfall.

Here it is on amazon for $20, but it's out of stock right now. You might be able to get it at Target, which is where I got it last summer for $15, or maybe Walmart.
That's pretty standard for the Special Edition. You might be able to get the Legendary Edition for cheaper on Amazon or somewhere else but it will require you to use Steam.
If you try to go cheaper than that, you'll be running into gray markets and scammers and stuff. Try to avoid being scammed.
I don't know if you live in the US or not but they still have them on their site.
Hardcover Guide $70-$90

These novels cover a few key points from the last 200 years: Lord of Souls and The Infernal City.
I haven't actually read them so please don't ask for a TL;DR.
http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017
Yep, there's some more too
They're actual novels, too.
The Infernal City and it's sequel Lord of Souls.

For real ?
I found 2 Novels:
@https://www.amazon.com/Lord-Souls-Elder-Scrolls-Novel/dp/0345508025
@https://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017/ref=pd_bxgy_14_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=0345508017&pd_rd_r=Y3FGAMZWWSPXRJEZMGAJ&pd_rd_w=WjoFf&pd_rd_wg=9lJLz&psc=1&refRID=Y3FGAMZWWSPXRJEZMGAJ
And there're Titan Books which I've already placed the order.
This lore is drawn from The Infernal City novel.

Actually, I think it's the game guide, not the art book.
This is its listing on Amazon. I could've swore there was an art book; I remember seeing one when I was at B&N a couple weeks ago.

I switched from xbox to PC and it's so much better. You can transfer your saves by using a thumb drive and Modio. Plug in an xbox 360 dongle to your pc, and you wouldn't even know the difference... except for the whole mod thing.

Not sure if the link gonna work, but it’s called Skyrim library volume 1-3. Purchasing them separately will cost you more but each will have distinct cover if I didn’t remember wrong.
I know it's a little late, but wtf.
I just bought this guide and it says it comes with a code for an interactive map. It arrives tomorrow, so I haven't tried it out.
