Oh, you can fix it.

This is going to feel weird, but go buy a bunch of those cheap children's books made from newsprint for them to practice writing in. You can also find these online and print them out.

Then use them. Take it slow and do a good job. Keep practicing. What is slow now will get faster and look better as you practice.

Also, you might want to pick up a copy of Vance Studley's Left Handed Calligraphy. I bought a copy at a pen show some years back and it's a wonderful book. It's cheap and will help you out.

While you're at it, subscribe to /r/fountainpens and buy one! You don't have to spend a lot. A cheap Hero fountain runs about $5 and there are all sorts of inks to choose from. I like Noodler's.

Yes, lefties can use fountain pens. At first, you might want to go for a fine or extra fine nib and a fast-drying ink. When you get used to it, you can switch to broad and oblique nibs. Those are really fun to write with.

Anyhow, you are not stuck with the handwriting you have. You can always improve.

Depending on what you get, they ca be cheaper.

Like Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0086UK7IQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_AjtGyb60APMK4

It is half the price of the one in the OP, and a very good mouse.

Right handed only, but not all 9+ buttons are expensive.

I bought the white one when it dropped to like $34.

(I suggest learning to use the mouse right handed for games, as it will BENEFIT your ability to play. You want your more dexterous and favorable hand on the keyboard, ideally, and this favors lefties.)

Unfortunately, left handed anything is going to be 1.5-2x the price.

Cutco isn't exactly a premier knife, they do a lot of door to door and catalog sales and are generally considered overpriced. I own 3 Shun knives (example: 7 in. Santoku with asymmetrical bevel grind).. they are ambidextrous and have double beveled edges. In fact most knives are asymmetrical double beveled edges do to their ease of use, maintenance and ability to retain an edge. The type of knife you are talking about is a chisel grind and when held in the right hand has the flat side perpendicular to the cutting board on the right side (they generally are sharper than double beveled edges and used to make things like sushi). This still is not a problem as one simply cuts from the left to the right. I honestly can't recall any knife that was made for a righty and all of my knives are ambidextrous.
I have a set from Wustof (cheaper set) and some working knives that I do a lot of cutting with like this Victorinox Santoku are an excellent value for all around slicing, mincing and chopping.

After working in an art supply store, and playing with a bunch of pens, my HG of a pen is this: Stabilo pointVisco.

SUPER smooth, rich colors, nice design. It only has two flaws: 1 - the ink takes a second to dry, so it's easy to smudge. 2 - the ink is not waterproof/water resistant. Once the ink dries, it's pretty stable. There's just a window a patience with these pens.

I’ve never used a top bound notebook but please, PLEASE don’t get him a coil notebook. Coil-less notebooks are great, I recommend them

u/elephantballerina · 2 pointsr/southpaws

Pentel EnerGel 0.7 mm are awesome. I've been using them forever -- they even say on the packaging that they're great for lefties because they dry SO FAST. After years of smudged papers and ink on my hand, these were a godsend.

u/icedvariables · 2 pointsr/southpaws

I have a Left Handed Razer Deathadder. It's a tad pricey but has served me for a good few years now and is quite comfortable so I'm pretty happy with it.

u/dragoneye · 1 pointr/southpaws

Ah, Cutco knives don't have a standard edge, they have some ridiculous edge that you can't sharpen yourself. It is essentially a serrated edge, which are usually made for a specific hand.

Seriously, toss that away and get yourself a normal chef's knife. The Victoronix Fibrox is inexpensive and highly praised. I bet you will be much happier.

Any better than that and you are looking in the $100-$150 range for a nice chefs knife.

If these don't work for you, then it is a knife skills issue. Find someone who can teach you proper technique and you will probably enjoy cooking more.

A bit expensive, but I really love my Delfonics 0.7mm Ballpoint. Its a really nice fine tip so it has no smudging but writes extremely clean.

u/gojutremere · 1 pointr/southpaws

Certainly. Based on personal preference and price range, I suggest knives from Global and Henckles. If price isn't really an object; I absolutely love my Shun knives.

This is the chef's knife I want once I have an excuse to spend the money on a new one: http://www.amazon.com/Shun-DM0707-Classic-10-Inch-Chefs/dp/B0000Y7KN6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367945937&sr=8-1&keywords=shun+10+inch+chef+knife

But as it stands now, I have been happily using my Mercer knives that I got from culinary school for over 2 years now.

EDIT: I should also mention that many restaurant supply and "big box" stores have VERY cheap knives designed for industry use that you can pick up for $20-$25 that will serve the average home cook very well.

You can get left handed planners that also have fun facts and things that might make it a bit more fun whilst still being practical.

Can openers are another thing (twisting direction) as well as rulers and even things like kitchen spoons which can be tilted in the opposite direction. There are also always left handed computer mice and even watches so that the dials are on the easier side to turn

u/fivethirds · 1 pointr/southpaws

I just bought this one and really like it. It goes on top of the can so it doesn't discriminate against handedness. Its also great because it leaves a smooth edge.

u/thebeesremain · 1 pointr/southpaws

These.

Output, they are a bit pricey. However! I'm an artist, and I work with pen and ink. I've tried pretty much every pen out there, from humble Uniball to Japanese Copic Multiliner. Such disappoint! Yes, I've learned to draw "backwards".

That being said, The Pentel Energel pen seems to be the answer to the lefty dream. I've had NO problems with it.

Good luck on your 9th grade adventure!

u/JaneEyreForce · 1 pointr/southpaws

My mom got me one that is a ratcheting one with the mechanism on the top. Can be used either-handed very easily. I have had it over 8 years and it is great.

Progressive I Can Opener

u/gmcg_abidesII · 1 pointr/southpaws

Rollerballs are the way to go. /u/applepwnz recommended the Uniball Jetstream RT. I'll second that. Pilot also makes an excellent rollerball line. My favorite right now is the Uniball AIR line, example here.

u/princewabb1t · 1 pointr/southpaws

U guys gotta try the new BIC Atlantis Exact ball pen it's by far the friendliest lefty ballpoint pen I've ever used.

This one I'm talkin bout on amazon

Edit: Go to ur local walmart, mine was under $4 wit tax. The 3rd party seller on Amazon is OP doe.

u/whiski83 · 2 pointsr/southpaws

The ultra-fine tip, .38mm, not only is really nice to write with but has an added bonus of the ink drying instantaneously.

Ugh, hand-crank can openers. I was so happy when the soup companies started putting the easy-pull tabs on their can lids.

My partner had an awesome low-tech contraption at the last place we lived: a wedge-shaped can opener mounted on the bottom of the cabinet. You just pushed the can lid into the wedge and rotated. Fucking brilliant.
