I got this

[2PCS Pack] Anti-Glare Matte Finish Whole Screen Protector Film for HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 13.3" 13-AE 13-AC 13-W Series(Release 2017) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071KZN18G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_YpaKDb94M82MN

I have the gem cut though so I had to trim the corners a bit. But it works great.

Thanks! Are you using the tilt on the Microsoft Surface Pen Model 1776 (EYU-00009) or one of its different colors?

Did you install this HP firmware update? The description says the update is for HP's Tilt Pen (which I don't have) and that it fixes inaccurate display of battery status. Do you know if the update is required to avoid issues with the Microsoft Surface Pen? When attempting the update, it asks to first pair the HP Tilt Pen, so I canceled it. Does the update install into the screen digitizer, pen, or both?

If you still have the rubber feet, then a tape like this might stick them back on

I've used this one on mine for the past year or so and it's still holding up well if anyone is looking for a cheaper alternative and has a more modern surface pen that doesn't have a clip on it. This one holds it really tightly and hasn't let go at yet!

You can get the LG 27UK650 for well under $400.

The HDMI port on my laptop doesn't always wake from sleep, but I've had that with every monitor I've tried.

Buy a anti-glare, matte screen protector if you find that there's too much glare. It doesn't affect touch performance, only the feel of the screen. Here's the one I bought.

I bought a Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter 300Watt Car Adapter for my spectre that works, I also have a 75w 4-port desktop charger so I can charge everything I need to without needing multiple chargers.

I've got the silver, with the 8th gen I7, 16 gb, and 512 ssd. This is the 1080p version. As for your questions.
2: No, I think spec for the usb C port is fairly typical, they're thunderbolt usb C ports so anything that's compatible with those ports should work fine for you. The problem, I think, comes in with these cheap adapters. If you read the reviews for the cheap adapters (https://www.amazon.com/USB-Type-HDMI-Adapter-Newforshop/dp/B075M1TB97/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1511140901&sr=1-5&keywords=usb+c+hdmi) this is a common concern. They work 75% of the time, and for their cost it's worth it. As for my problem with the external hdd, this is also a common complaint with these cheaper adapters. Apparently when using these adapters and an external hdd, the adapter gets hot. So that being said, the adapter I referenced above, is fine for me; it works, I use it for HDMI and a usb 3.0 thumb drive.
3: As for the sound, yes that bothers me too. I'm not going to return my unit, because I do feel that it's a software problem. The fact that it addresses itself when I restart the PC tells me it's a software issue. But that being said, I haven't had the issue in about a week or so of typical use. In a month of use, I've had the crackling sound (during unplugging or plugging usb drives) happen 2-4 times. Each time, I restarted the PC and it went away. HP updated software/bios about 4 days ago with the bios updated targeting audio; hopefully that addressed the issue. I haven't had the problem since the update.
4: I did not get the new pen. I was unaware of a new pen. I got the pen with the two buttons. It works really well. Being the first OEM stylus I've ever used, I really enjoy it and it seems responsive. Additionally, MS software seems fairly optimized for it. My unit, purchased at Bestbuy also came with a pleather sleeve with a handy pen holder too. Very pleased with the package.
5: The keyboard is solid. I can't imagine complaining about the side home, etc buttons. Honestly I didn't even notice that they're side buttons. My old Acer aspire s7 had those buttons tied to Fn + directional buttons, so nothing really bothers me about this keyboard setup. Maybe if you're tying some macros to them or playing games it's a problem, otherwise there's no problem with this setup.
6: I would assume that most current PC games turned all the way down for graphical fidelity should run on this PC, but I'm the wrong person to ask. Since this uses an Intel graphics chip, I assume you could only get away with games turned down.

I will soon be repasting with thermal grizzly kryonaut and attempting to use thermal pads. I ordered a 1mm thick pad on Amazon to cut to size.

https://www.amazon.com/Arctic-Thermal-Efficient-Conductivity-Handling/dp/B00UYTTDO6/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=Arctic%2Bthermal%2Bpads&qid=1557609999&s=gateway&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1

I'll report back my findings and take pictures.

The integrated GPU can do at least drive 3 displays. The question is what are you going to use for output? Basically, you have 2 USB C and one is used for power so you have one USB C and one USB A.

I think getting a USB C (or thunderbolt) HUB for displays.

Something like it. My old ThinkPad T series had both HDMI and Mini Display Monitor, but I think no laptop is born with 3 Display outputs.

I just got the 13” to run CAD and GIS. I went with 16GB of RAM. Having an integrated GPU might slow things down for me when working with big Shapefiles or DXF, but I have an AW17 with 32GB RAM and a 1060 for computing the big stuff, it’s just a bitch and a half to lug around. I dont know about your school/program but I know AutoCAD lets you download the entire package on a few computers (I have it on my desktop, AW17R4, and on my Spectre. Overall I’d say you’d probably be good with 13” with at least 8GB of RAM. Your school will likely provide a lab to work on in class (I usually do the work in class on their machine and write notes in Notebook on my Spectre in tent mode). I’ve also never been given any files that are too much for a regular machine, they’re usually all broken up into individual files for individual tasks you’re learning how to do. I dont know if that helps you at all.

Edit: I also ordered this along with a Logitech M720 for my 13.

RAVPower 30W PD powerbank doesn't charge my late 2017 Spectre x360 15 via usb-c at all. It only tells that the connected source isnt powerful enough to charge the battery. When connecting the laptop to the usb-a port of the powerbank (via usb-a to usb-c cord), it charges only when turned off (around 2A/5V, I guess). Thus, it can charge the laptop in about 8 hours, when its turned off, but it's very pity, that the powerbank cant charge the laptop when in use.
