What are you talking about? Argumentation based on some esoterical “anyone that works in the industry” is such BS. Give your opinion but don’t try to mask it behind these “absolute” statements about industry experts. LiNing is a very respected badminton shoe maker, and their shoes happen to work great for squash. And they make some great shoes . The pair on the link below has lasted me the longest of any shoe I’ve played squash with and they were USD 49 (I’ve mainly used ASICS Gel Blade 4s and Gel Domain 3s. I’ve stuck with the older models because I dislike the material quality of new models, but have paid a pretty penny for them; USD 100+). The LiNing pair has the best heel cushioning of any shoe I’ve used, have durable materials in typical abrasion areas for squash, have sturdy materials all around for great stability, and the materials on the inside (heel in particular) is still intact. I’ve had the same pair since October 2018 and I play 4 times a week.

LI-NING Men Badminton Shoes Wearable Breathable Soft Lightweight Sports Shoes Blue AYTM069 US 10.5 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DMTQ67K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nn9nDb4V661NC

Again, if you have specific first hand testimony about a faulty LiNing pair, fair enough. But your blanket statement is ridiculous.

Edit: changed great stability for gray stability

Hey man glad to hear! I would recommend any of the Xamsa rackets. I used this racket when I competed at the university level and still use it frequently to this day. The new Obsidian model ($110) which imo is the best budget racket on the market right now. They have a more durable racket called the Xamsa DURO ($75) which is perfect if your worried about breaking rackets. I believe the reason the owner created this brand was to give back to the community by making rackets that were good and affordable for new players which is really cool imo.

Balls wise, Dunlop is the most popular brand and is the one the professionals use. Wilson makes decent balls as well. Wilsons tend to be a little bit bouncier which will work in your favour and they also last longer then the Dunlop ones. You can go ahead and grab the double yellow dot ball and you'll get used to the bounce quickly. If you need something more bouncier, try a single yellow dot ball.

First off, welcome.

Welcome to one of the last pure sports on Earth.

Yeah, you lost. It happens a lot. One of the Sport's all time greats, Ramy Ashour, speaks fondly of losing 0-27 in the first tournament he ever entered as a junior.

Losing is a part of sport and a part of life.

To answer your question, you should absolutely continue in our Sport. Squash is brilliant at building resolve, it's not a sport of passing shots but of perseverance and endurance. It's about digging in and overcoming the voices telling you to quit and just keep getting the ball back.

I can tell you now, with very solid experience that kids all develop their game at different rates. The best players I've seen are often the ones at 14 & 15 who couldn't keep up with their peers, they just hadn't developed as much. Work hard, set those players as your target and never stop getting the ball back.

They say you can't put an old head on young shoulders but this old head wants to try for a moment. Go pick up a used copy of The Inner Game of Tennis and start working on your mental game. It's never to early to teach yourself how to mentally compete, to support yourself and hone the muscle between your ears.

In closing, stay in the sport, be gracious when you make Varsity next year and don't delete your post. You'll smile next year when you look back on these doubts.

I had issues for years with my feet getting eaten up playing squash, heel pain, muscle strain etc.

These are the main thing i found without seeing a specialist. If your foot is moving around in the shoe, your muscles will overcompensate which causes the strain. Get a snug fitting shoe for your foot type. Not every shoe will fit perfectly, "double socking" helps.

The default insoles are good for a few games then start to break down. Get an after market pair with good heel support. (I use these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0156365TK/)

Use the last eyelet in your shoe laces (the one no uses) it helps with stability of the upper foot and ankle. Someone posted here before with different ways to lace your shoes over the norm. It was directed towards some sort of specifics for different foot issues but I never tries them, maybe that would help you???

And as someone already said. Work on your footwork. You admit your level of play. Going for shots constantly like a bat out of hell are going to hurt you overall. While im not discouraging going for shots but think of it like playing pool (snooker) think about your next shot and dont blackball yourself. Sometimes it better to wait for the next point to gain service back.

Personally, I really like the way Xamsa does it. All the facts and figures are out in the open, prices are right.

You've asked for opinions and honestly your whole site kinda seems like a high school business class project. There's not a lot of actual info on the site, just a lot of soundbites that mimic what every other small squash startup says. There aren't very good photos of anything, the site layout is clearly a generic template only minimally filled out. No idea what continent you're located on. MSRP is wildly optimistic for what appears to be another generic version of a Carboflex.

Here's an established paddlesport company with the same thing.

Or if direct from China.

If you really want to get off the ground, I'd advise you to put effort into the webpage with more concrete info, like where you are. Get some of the people who are using the racquet to offer a review, preferably on video. Send out play-test samples to a third party who can give input.

The Nike Elites are probably my favorite, but I've found that [thick cushion Thorlos] (http://www.amazon.com/Thorlo-Unisex-Cushion-Running-Platinum/dp/B0009MZYDW/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel) (they have different cushion levels so gotta make sure they are thick) are even thicker. Another option are Wrightsocks which are kinda thin, but have a double layer which is great for blisters but I don't actually like that much for playing cause I feel like I slip around in the sock.

About the R1s, I found them to have a pretty roomy toe box and not much cushioning, but very grippy so not sure if that will help or hurt.

Also, I've heard people that were really desperate about blisters talk about using duct tape, but never tried it myself.

Insoles make a big difference. It's a lot easier to use an aftermarket insole rather than hunt around for a squash shoe that happens to come with a higher insole. I use Superfeet Blue, recommended from my doctor, which are designed for running and sports rather than day-to-day walking.

But be careful! It takes time to get used to the additional arch support when lunging for balls and changing direction quickly on the court. If you play too aggressively in higher insoles without practice, you could very easily roll an ankle or fall. Start with moderate arch support before working your way up to the high arch support models.

Got this one: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01GVX13ZA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_lWNyybZNTEBFV

Really love it for the calves and lower back, IT band and quads. Fits in my bag nicely, and doubles as a security baton haha. The pizza dough is a bit bumpy though 😆

I torn my meniscus 3-4 months ago. After consulting 2 different doctors, decided not to go for surgery. Anyway check this knee brace.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0053VDTDG/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1457104022&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=bauerfeind

A little costly, but I am in the courts 2-3 times a week coz of the protection it gives.
Very comfy, didn't have to adjust it at all once I put it on. Not hot.
U do need to do a measurement to get the right size thou.
I recommended this to a few friends, we are loving it. :p

Yes. Wilson nVue

Ill tell you why I do wear them, because I like BOTH of my eyes. That youtube is a perfect reason (although they arent top tier level players) but I would almost guarantee the peson that takes out your eye isnt going to automatically open their wallet to help you out. $40 out of mine is a good piece of mind for me. Mistakes happen.

Also an extra sweaty guy

Zipfizz as in like this? http://www.amazon.ca/Zipfizz-Energy-Sports-Drink-Mix/dp/B001O3U7AK/ref=sr_1_1/184-4601919-1125724?ie=UTF8&qid=1453124721&sr=8-1&keywords=zipfizz

I've been trying gatorade lately, but it seems to come with a good chance of stomach cramps, perhaps from the sugar.

u/databalata · 4 pointsr/squash

I'll second Wilson; I like these ones that are perforated: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001S2X20E/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've found that the Xamsa overgrips fall apart too quickly and leave my hand covered in black residue.

From Ian McKenzie's book The Squash Workshop. The book was written in the 90s, but I enjoyed reading it (I am only a beginner). Also, it has lots of pictures of the big squash stars of that era. I did mention it in your other thread asking for book recommendations.

u/BossSquash · 1 pointr/squash

confirmed it does! Especially if you use a spiked massage ball like this: https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Tec-Athletics-Density-Spiky-Massage/dp/B077H1ZB83
