I'm sort of a coffee snob outside of being a Starbucks employee, the enthusiast in me can't recommend a system like this. I'm not sure how cheap it would be but it isn't really anything special. If you really want an easy pour over system and have it be just like we do iced coffee in the store (double strength and weakened with ice, its not terrible but honestly not good) then go with this but if not you should research cold brew.

The pour over double strength method is used by us in the store for consistency and volume, we can make a large amount of coffee quickly and it'll be the same every time. it just doesn't make very good tasting coffee because brewing double strength makes it kinda sour and bitter and doesn't properly bring out the flavors of the coffee.

If you are still reading this far then you're interested in an alternative: I say get him a French press and a cold brew recipe!! You may be able to get the one we sell for a good deal, if not tpyou can find good ones on amazon for around $20, I personally have this and I love it but you cpwould do with anything else on amazon with good reviews if you prefer a simpler design.

Cold brew takes longer (it has to sit for at least 12 hours) but it makes a freaking delicious iced coffee. If you really want to impress your boyfriend, mark out a bag of Ethiopian or Guatemala Antigua and grind it for French press then make him a batch of cold brew - its really easy, just measure out the coffee and use twice as much as the bag recommends, fill the rest of the press with cold water and leave it in the fridge overnight or for at least 12 hours. This method brings out a lot of the fruity and chocolaty flavors of the coffees and makes a delicious and strong but light cup of iced coffee.

You can find lots of recipes online if you want to get more specific with proportions or brewing styles too!

30 years old here. I'm an author (shameless self plug), but in 2015 my state elected a tea party psychopath into the governor's mansion so I need a means to get insurance. Enter Starbucks, with their hella fucking awesome benefits at 20 hours, and now I can do my author stuff alongside the traditional job. (Oh, and the people I work with are totes awesome, so that helps)

that's what it is. amazon sent me actual physical gift cards with holiday cards and envelopes. super appropriate, and super easy. will definitely be buying these again!

I can help with wrist pain advice!

Before I started at Starbucks I hurt my left wrist carrying something heavy at my old job; it was a sharp jolt of pain I'd experience when turning my wrist while holding something. Whatever I was doing I would have to stop immediately for relief and it started to get to a point where I couldn't hold anything with weight. I ended up going to a specialist and getting an MRI. Turns out I had a small tear in something important (muscle/tendon, I can't remember) and he gave me a brace since the tear was too small for surgery. I was to wear it as much as I could (basically all the time) and wear it when I slept. The brace was to immobilize the muscle so it would be able to heal.

Here's the brace:

Now I work at Starbucks and the same thing happened to my other wrist, I don't know what I did but it could be because I have been on bar a lot more since one of our bar-only people quit. I went out an bought another brace (they're not reversible) and have found relief. I don't wear it at work but I make sure I wear it when I sleep.

Obviously, I'm not a doctor, nor can I diagnose anything for you but I hope this helps. This is the exact brace that the specialist gave me. Good luck!

TL:DR; Went to a specialist, had a tear in my wrist, was given that brace and it fixed it.

Edit: The link doesn't have a picture but it's the "Breg Wrist Lacer Right 8 inch" I bought a small since I have skinny wrists.

Amazon! It’s honestly probs my favorite one lol. Although my lil coffee beans are a close second!

Edit: I found it again! If u look up “coffee enamel pin” on amazon there’s a bunch of fun things. If u scroll down a bit tho u can find the coffee plant one and the little 4-pack of beans. But here’s the link to the plant one lol.

https://www.amazon.com/Real-Sic-Jewelry-Quality-Backpacks/dp/B07N612MMC/ref=mp_s_a_1_18?dchild=1&keywords=coffee+enamel+pin&qid=1570415447&sr=8-18

$10 for a milk steamer. Add on a stainless steel milk pitcher, and it's about $15 bucks. It's like the best investment ever. That's if you don't want to get an espresso machine.

I haven't used one, but apparently there's a pretty cheap Mr. Coffee brand espresso machine with a milk steamer wand built in for about $40. But if you're going to be going that far, I would save up to spend at least $100 for a decent 4 star reviewed machine, lol.

This hand cream should work nicely and a little bit goes a long way. I was pretty liberal about it when I first got it because my hands were all cracked and bleeding. Went to bed with it, woke up and put it on, during my shift too.

You're allowed to wear a non-scented lotion and what's great about this is it can stand a few hand washes.

u/SadElvenMermaid · 1 pointr/starbucks

i did some research and there seems to be three different levels, single use foam ones, then non custom reusable ones (they have like 3 rubber domes, but i saw a review of the domes breaking and getting stuck in the ear canal, which scared me), and then the custom molded ones that are super expensive but worth the investment if using them a lot.

so i feel like if i felt safe about using the ones like this https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-High-Fidelity-Earplugs-Standard-Packaging/dp/B00RM6Q9XW/ref=cm_wl_huc_item which this review scared me https://gyazo.com/6d3cbb28f97707b013dfe482a758ab33

so i might end up saving to buy custom ones. altho there's these which seem sorta like custom ones but also reusable and cheaper than custom, but the string that makes it easy to remove them broke for one reviewer https://www.amazon.com/Earasers-HEM001-Musicians-Plugs-Medium/dp/B00E2D9HAA/ref=sr_1_45?keywords=custom&th=1

I know we are only supposed to use QASA approved lotions 🙄 but like, I’m not touching food with my bare hands so I’ll use whatever I need to keep them from being cracked and broken. My mom gardens a lot and washing all the dirt off every day was hard on her hands and she uses Gloves in a Bottle. It’s basically a lotion that creates a barrier between your skin and whatever chemical/dirt you’re working with and prevents them from being completely absorbed into your skin. It’s amazing. Whenever my hands start getting bad at work I just slather this stuff on and reapply as needed. Use a heavy duty hand cream like Working Hands when you’re at home :)

u/ultskiz · 1 pointr/starbucks

hey sorry for the late reply!! i’m actually not home right now and i don’t have my straw with me but it looks like this plain straight one!! it’s not anything fancy but i think it’s cute! she had the bended one though :p

Get an Aeropress! They make single cups of coffee in less than 2 minutes and they make the most intricate, strong, personal cup of coffee you ever had in your whole life. I love my fucking Aeropress.

u/ryamkajr · 1 pointr/starbucks

Honestly, just buy the Contigo listed in the link below.

It is better than any tumbler that Starbucks sells, has a much better leak-proof lid than almost any other tumbler out there, and you can buy an optional tea infuser for it as well.

http://www.amazon.com/Contigo-AUTOSEAL-Stainless-Easy-Clean-20-Ounce/dp/B00KR9OMLM/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1418611681&sr=1-1&pebp=1418611655960

I've definitely peeled them off before and stuck them to other things, just because. It doesn't take that long, but perhaps it's because my nails are quite long. Either way, you can also buy those stickers super easily. A quick Google search turned this up.

I wash my aprons, workclothes and maybe jeans/darks together. I buy these mesh cloth bags to put my apron in so they don't tangle up. you can buy them from IKEA or amazon something like this. I put a safety pin in the zipper so that way the aprons don't fall out. I also use a japanese wash board to get stains out of my clothes.

These two items are not just for my aprons, but all my laundry and I had them for a few years. I use it for safely washing my delicates or washing some tough stains and they are wonderful.

And more detergent wont help if the stains are tough and stuck on your clothes. You need to scrub the milk stains out.

Definitly don't wrap it. I would either keep a+d ointment or something similar on it and just keep in covered with cotton materials. An artist I go to actually invented this amazing ointment, it's antibacterial and all natural. Sounds like BS, but I swear by this stuff. I used on my forearm while I was working at starbucks and it healed beautifully. He sells it on amazon now https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06Y5R5Q38/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8. And here's the actual website http://inkstickaftercare.com

Skechers Work Women's Kincaid II Slip On Flat https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UBJ1O6O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ykLWCbGC3BZZA

Non-slip and pretty comfortable. They look exactly like toms and they are faux leather/man-made materials.

An amazing way to make iced coffee is to use a Toddy Brewer. You can find them on Amazon for about $30. It is a room-temp brewing system that makes this wonderful double-strength coffee concentrate. And it cuts the acidity of the final product by a ton. Just add water and ice and you have the best cup you can imagine.

http://www.amazon.com/Toddy-T2N-Cold-Brew-System/dp/B0006H0JVW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398144084&sr=8-1&keywords=Toddy+brewer

Uh, percolated espresso made in this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072VL8MNQ/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

skim milk prepped in this thing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CNJYKYZ/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

shit ton of SF vanilla syrup, which is why I go through a bottle a week.

It's not authentic, but it's easier than just snorting espresso up my nose.

u/WesterosiWanderer · 2 pointsr/starbucks

I would highly recommend an Aeropress

Or you could buy a French press from your store with your discount- it’ll be cheaper and easier to learn on than the Aeropress. A pour over cone will be the cheapest option of all (30>14>6), but I personally prefer immersion brewing methods to pour over methods.

u/klieber · 3 pointsr/starbucks

I assume you mean this one. Does that provide any benefits over simply making cold brew in a french press? (which is how I've been doing it)

u/xueye · 2 pointsr/starbucks

Gotta get yourself some O'Keefes it works miracles.
