Your best bet is the most recent Dell Synaptics pen which you will find here for instance (though the one I got way back was model number 750-AAHC).

In any case, though Synaptics tech is not as good as what Microsoft and Wacom have to offer, I found it good enough for note taking purposes when I used my Dell Venue 8 Pro for that purpose. It is not too smooth, but it isn't that bad provided you find a good stylus and use something like OneNote.

The following devices all have Wacom EMR digitizers and would for example work with the Staedtler noris digital ($27)

  • chromebook plus about $400
  • chromebook pro about $500
  • Galaxy tab S3 about $450
  • Acer Chrome OS tablet to be released in the coming weeks, $329
  • Lenovo 500e about $300

Which one you want probably depends on whether you want a keyboard or not and how much you value screen size, resolution and quality (All except the lenovo are "retina", either 12 inch 3:2, 10 inch Amoled or 9.7 4:3 Ipad screen or garbage for the lenovo one).

Appwise, Inkredible Pro is pretty nice as is LectureNotes. Inkredible has nicer pens and design, but LectureNotes has more features.

This one actually feels very good in hand.

If you can order from Fry's Electronics the Wacom stylus is in-stock. But I would rather get the Samsung S-Pen with eraser which is no longer manufactured or being sold. I'd buy that any day over any of the other official Samsung Note compatible pens.

one of the reviewers at Pocket Now uses this. its how i ended up knowing such even existed. https://www.amazon.com/Stilo-SP-0001-US-Active-Smartphones-Tablets/dp/B00YYL74GY/ref=lp_11371741011_1_1?srs=11371741011&ie=UTF8&qid=1468702587&sr=8-1

there is also this one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QHO0A9Y?psc=1

seems in order for it to work with such a fine tip the pen needs to be active.

There's the Staedler pencil which is getting excellent reviews, although I haven't tried it personally. There's the Tab S3 pen which is very good and a little larger than the "toothpick" pens. I personally use a Wacom Bamboo Feel but they don't seem to be available any more for a reasonable price. They were $30-$40, and now they're going for $100-$400...

I like the surface pen, feel more solid. Here's a link: Pen

It looks like Huion has a very similar stylus... any ideas whether this would work?

If your drawing needs can be filled by the Android ecosystem, you might want to consider like a Galaxy Tab A w/ S-pen. They retail for around 200ish - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LFV5SI6

I'm looking at this one here, actually...I lost my original stylus, and to replace it would be like $90..this one's about $55.

Synaptics styli will work with the hp spectre. This includes the official one and the dell one

The dell one has been reported by many to be slightly to significantly better, but with strangely short battery life.

You are looking for a Wacom penabled EMR pen.

You can get one from one of the OEM'S like Fujitsu, Lenovo, HP, Toshiba, Dell or the Samsung S-pens
