I'm using it since one month with my Impreza 2017 sedan base model. Toughest part was finding the cable for my Nexus 5X (since it's USB C). This worked for me, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WJSPB5A/

Had to reset Android Auto app (clear cache, reinstall app.) a couple of times for the Impreza infotainment system to recognize my Nexus 5X and automatically launch Android Auto. I only used it when I need Google Maps. For calls and music Bluetooth handsfree works great. But voice recognition is pretty bad with BT hadsfree system, but work's great on Android Auto.

it's complicated, i did it when i first bought my 16'.

and don't let just any audio installer do it, they'll just hack the shit out of the harness.

you need about $200 in parts besides the headunit to do it properly

shit and it looks like the link to the blog on how to do it is gone :(

http://roflitsowens.blogspot.com/2015/12/2016-subaru-wrx-replacing-starlink-head.html

basically you need:

dash install kit

wire to keep OEM backup camera

30pin adapter you'll cut it in half and use it for hooking all these various things together

Maestro to retain steering wheel control, there's a cheaper version though with less features

adapter to retain USB

adapter for stock antenna

adapter for radio so you don't have to cut anything

and i'm pretty sure i'm forgetting something else.

most of these things all have to be wired into the 30 pin connector, it was much easier to figure it all out on my workbench and solder it properly then install everything, took me about 2 days to do.

This is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076B27WP6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It's great, no residue, sticks to plastic great. I actually just replaced the previous gen that lasted 3 years.

This is the current basket I have right now here . Only thing I did was add a camo vinyl to the fairing. The old one is here , but I don’t recommend it due to its flimsiness. The tow hook is just an aesthetic tow hook from amazon as well, it’s non functional.

I purchased this one and have been happy with it.
It fits very well. $35 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M5I9WFA/

sorry but what are gutter strips?

my hatchback version seems to have exterior two mounting brackets over the front and rear doors. (seen here https://www.amazon.com/SUBARU-E361SFL100-Fixed-Crossbar/dp/B06ZYDPXF2)

but according to the OEM parts list for higher trim imprezas with the roof rails, it seems that the roof rails attach using 3 mounting brackets? (see https://www.subarupartspro.com/oem-parts/subaru-roof-rack-91151fl11a?origin=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9Z3Ls_eq5AIVg9lkCh1JywFEEAYYASABEgJiGPD_BwE)

I assume the two available mounting brackets on my car should match (will need to double check) but the third mounting bracket one in the back isn't available. I don't know if this will impair the integrity of the rails if I only use two mounting brackets to attach it.

thoughts?

I personally use this and swear by it. Best waterless wash ever.

Dome lights - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01AHVND32?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title

License plate lights - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0186P1MUW?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title

Pictures will be a couple of hours. For the dome lights I did have to bend the metal tab just a little bit once I did that they worked just fine. I would say it’s like bending it about 1-2mm.

I ended up installing one of these . Makes draining the oil easier and cleaner. Plus less likely of over or under tightening the drain plug.

So I was leaving work yesterday, and I noticed this was missing when I got to the parking lot. I don't know what happened to it. I didn't hit anything, and I don't remember hearing anything while I was driving. Anyways, this looks like an easy fix. I'm looking at ordering the piece online and replacing it myself. Is this the correct part?

I bought this.

It works well because the velcro sticks to the trunk liner. I have my cleaning products, snow brush, and lots of other tools in the little cubby to the side.

It is quite pricey for what it is but worth it IMO.

u/ChipDouglas3 · 1 pointr/subaruimpreza

This is completely false.

The "naked" roof of the Sport model has tiny little doors in the roof molding/rain gutter that when opened, provide access to the factory threaded holes for cross bars or aftermarket side rails such as SSD Performance

This would be an accurate discription of the work needed to REMOVE the factory installed side rails from the models other than the Sport. These are definitely bolted on from the inside prior to the headliner being installed and would need to have the remaining holes addressed for weather proofing.

Haven't driven with just the crossbars. I only put them on when I use my bike rack. That definitely makes more wind noise, but is much bulkier.

That appears to be it. Same thing happened to me on my 2013 Impreza Sport (but i hit a cardboard box on the highway).

BTW, it pops right in in 2 seconds.
