YES... this bothered me for some time and at great expense, meaning I've tried many, this is the only one that works. The key is to get ACTIVE and DisplayPort 1.2 - it seems, that's what finally worked for me. I have two of them and they work flawlessly.

edit: letter

edit 2: I'm sorry, I totally glanced over the fact you are using DVI. I'll leave this here for VGA folks... and hey, maybe a 1.2 DVI that is active will work.

For anyone trying to find something similar, after trying multiple stands, I finally found the stand provided by Amazon basics. It's great and the price is very good.

I recently picked this cord up and it works well: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005C0COWK/ref=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is rated the same as the stock cable (125V 2.5A I believe) and it is 6 feet. I like the longer length.

I've been using this messenger bag for about six month now. Bought a shoulder strap pad for extra comfort. I carry my Surface Book w/case, Bose Q35 w/case, charger, and pens. Plenty of room left for files/folders.

This is what I settled on. It should work for my needs. I'll try and remember to update this in case others are looking for the same thing and are curious.

iPearl mCover Hard Shell Case for 15-inch Microsoft Surface Book 2 Computer (MS-SBK2-15 Clear) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079T12629/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_OijiDbZ6R416D has been working really well for me to protect my SB2 15. It doesn’t block vents and seems to be durable (though it doesn’t protect the hinge - not sure much could due to the design).

I am a little concerned about heat and throttling though. The SB2 likes to move into the dreaded 400MHz mode in the summer when it gets hot and throttles.

You can use a usb A item like this:

USB External Sound Card, VANDESAIL USB2.0 Audio Adapter Stereo 5.1 with 3.5mm MIC and Headphone Jack for Windows, Mac, Linux https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HPYSC4O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_feQLBbT7PWKRY

Or I use a USB gaming headset (yes I know it’s giant) to get around the headphone issue.

Logitech USB Headset H390 with Noise Cancelling Mic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UXZQ42/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_mfQLBbA31XJAE
