Hi.

Own the Dash now for 10 months, it's firmware upgrades greatly improved it but in the end the hardware design gives poor BT range. Also I had to rma twice, got a brand new box each time (A++ service!), but I did get one of the earliest batches. Props to the Bragi software team for the improvements the past months, none of the reviews from early 2016 are a reflection of the current product. The Dash is an incredible prototype product but inherently needs refined (future?) hardware to be great. Main two things to improve are reception & battery life.

Own the Headphone now for a few days, the reception is a lot better, the sound is better out of the box, the controls are less easy to use compared to the Dash (press instead of touch), it's not waterproof, it won't get any software upgrades. Putting them in the case where they won't get charged without plugging that case into a usb port is quite weird as a Dash user (though the benefit is that TH carry case is superlight). Anyone who wants wireless earbuds and will use them with an Android device should look no further than these.

Sound quality greatly depends on the used eartips/sleeves. I swapped mine on both the Dash&TH for Sony MDR(=EPEX) earplugs which gives me personally a better seal. This results in the audio quality between twice as good as with the standard eartips. But that's different for everyone. I have probably spend another 25 euro's finding better suited eartips before I settled on the MDR's (tested SpinFit & Inairs tips & others). I cannot stress enough how important is it to get a proper fit for the audio quality and passive noise cancelling effects.

I believe 2017 with the introduction of BT 5.0 hardware we'll see greatly improved products. This current stuff works but it's always a compromise in size/comfort/battery life/sound quality/reception/weight/etc.
Overall this hearable market will grow considerably next few years.

14 months ago I cancelled my preorder of the Kanoa earbuds, feels like a forever scam and I only expect that company to deliver a subpar product. By the time these Kanoa earbuds actually get to the market they will be already outdated.

I think Bragi will bring an excellent matured product (Dash v2) somewhere in 2017 with BT 5.0 and I will order that without a doubt (once I get a Oneplus 4 with BT 5 hardware that is).

Hi there!

I primarily use the intern Player because the Bluetooth connection to my Phone still sucks, also the intern player is quite louder than the Bluetooth stream.

I find the quality pretty good, it's a nice balance, good deeps and highs but no super deep bass or something which is good (for me).
Also I'm not an audiophile guy so my opinion of the quality may just fits for me.

I can't say much about running with the Dash, now and then I have to sprint to get my train but I think you can't compare that with actual running for miles.
If that happens they fit very well but I have to say that I switched to foam Tips because the standard Tips just didn't fit in my ears and wouldn't gave me that sound experience that I have now. (I use the whoomp tips from Comply)

Hope that I could help you a little bit.

Found this, should be perfect once I strip it.

I lost the spring while trying to get it back in but it's good that doesnt matter. I'll order this and I believe I have a stripper at work and I'll search for a smaller wire cutter that might work.

Thanks for the good luck!

These are the tips I use. I used to use the silicone sleeves, but they didn't seal 100%. Took a bit to get these to fit right and still have the heart rate sensor work, but they're great now. If you're outside, keep your phone in your right pocket, preferable if you have a jacket on, in your upper jacket pocket on the right to help with the BT reception (receiver is in right dash).

Also, if you can, bring the charger pack with you. I've had instances of the left / right go nuts and be out of headphones until I was able to put them back in the charger to "restart" them.

This is a quote from the Kickstarter comments section by Nikolaj:

"A note on bluetooth performance:
https://support.bragi.com/hc/en-us/articles/206318599-Improve-the-Bluetooth-signal-strength

Bluetooth performance is divided into two main categories. On body and line of sight performance.

On body performance improves dramatically if the Bluetooth device protrudes out of the ear (like old bluetooth headsets). I never wanted to make teletubby headphones, and The Dash rests within the ear. The head, ear, shoulders etc create “radio shadows”, that reduce on body Bluetooth performance. The "shadow" can only be overcome if the headphone protrudes significantly out of the ear.

This is especially noticeable, when you are outside with no walls to reflect the signal. Link distance in line of sight of The Dash (+- a few meters) is about 14m to your left, 20m to front, right and back (NOT SPECIFICATION, just personal experience). If you are within 7 meters of a wall, the wall will reflect the Bluetooth signal to provide better on body performance.

On body, we recommend to have the source (phone) on the upper right body. Many other manufacturers have the same recommendation:

https://www.google.de/url… see page 2

http://www.amazon.com/Jabra-STYLE-Wireless-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B00DUTIZJG
Review notes from Jabra Style Headset:
There is a lot of cross body interference. For example, if the headset is in my right ear and I have my phone in my right pocket then a lot gets garbled.

  • There is some same-side interference. For example, when I move my phone to my right pants pocket.

General application of bluetooth headsets in open space causes challenges for on body performance. As soon as the phone is close to the body, bluetooth link quality drops significantly. Even if our device is right in the ear, we are on par on performance with most headsets, even if they stick far out of the ear. Physics is a bitch.

We feel that The Dash has average on body performance, even though the device is a lot smaller and within the ear to comparable devices.
The Dash has great line of sight performance on Bluetooth."

hi,

Hmm I bought these:
https://www.amazon.de/Oval-Komfortabel-Klipsch-Image-Serie/dp/B00FW10UEI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466067700&sr=8-1&keywords=Klipsch+Oval

And the hole in the middle is far too small. It can be that its not OEM or different model than yours.
