If you like modding then again you can do the exact same things to headphones that actually sound better. I'm not saying "you're so dumb" for liking the convenience of gaming headphones. And sure you might not be looking for the best quality. But when you can achieve that quality for usually less than the gaming counterpart and keeping in mind you can spray paint those or whatever just as easily I don't really see your point.
Gaming is for fun. Isn't being totally immersed or being impressed by the quality of that super cool explosion fun too? I'm not even saying you should be an audiophile at all. You can easily build a gaming headset that sounds MUCH better that you can also mod if thats you're jam for cheap.
And again if you like fiddling around with your setup then headphones (not headsets) give you way more options as sometimes gaming headsets limit your sources, dacs, amps, pads, cables. ect ect to what they had in mind out of the box.
Edit - also if you don't want to deal with non-gaming headphones. There's at least a few pairs out there that still give you decent quality (usually better than the $200+ headphones like razer sometimes offers for example) and does not hurt the wallet.
Hyper X Cloud Brand. Im currently using a Hyper X Cloud Stinger and its fantastic. Great audio, great mic and great build quality. And its fairly cheap. You can even push your mic up so its not annyoing you when you are not using it. Hyper X Cloud 1 and Hyper X Cloud 2(newer and better generation) are also great headsets.
Hyper X Cloud Stinger Mic has a click mechanic, cheapest of the bunch

Spicy Boy Hot Sauce
Thank you /u/MarikBentusi for your Papa Scorch artwork. It did inspire me to try to make this hot sauce. I looked around the internet at three different recipes and people’s reviews about them in order to have an idea of what changes I should make. I’m pleased to say that this was my first attempt with this recipe and it turned out quite tasty and spicy. Stay safe out there Pilots.
First, get out your data knife and dice half a large white onion, four medium-large tomatoes, three garlic cloves, two poblano peppers, two large jalapeño peppers, and finally three chipotle peppers. Then take two Fresno chilies (for heat) and halve them.
Second, in a large pan upgraded with the Tempered Plating kit, pour in two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and turn the heat to medium. Add the onions, garlic, and the peppers and cook until the onions start to brown which takes about three minutes. Stir occasionally.
Third, add the diced tomatoes, one and a half cups of white vinegar, four teaspoons of salt, and four teaspoons of sugar. Lower Papa Scorch’s stove to medium-low in order to break down the tomatoes which takes around five minutes. Stir occasionally.
Fourth, carefully move the extremely hot and dangerous mixture to a blender (remove the Fresno chilies now to keep the spice level lower or leave them in the mixture if you like spice). Before turning on purée, for the love of God hold down on the lid with one hand or the entire thing could blow into your face like a Goddamn incendiary trap going off right in front of you. I’m not exactly saying that this has happened to me before, but I found out that I can jump pretty high in the air without a Jump Kit. Purée until the mixture is smooth throughout.
Fifth, take a fine mesh strainer and place it over a large glass bowl. Pour the mixture through the strainer slowly. It helps to pour a little at a time and stir with a wooden spoon to help speed the draining up.
Sixth, cover with paper towels (remember, it’s still hot so plastic wrap might melt) and put into fridge. Clean up the kitchen and don’t go to the bathroom before washing your damn hands. Trust me, Pilot. Then, go play Titanfall for two hours.
Seventh, add a tablespoon of lime juice once the entire mixture is cold. This recipe makes about ten ounces of hot sauce, or enough to fill eight of these.
Notes: You can substitute different peppers for different flavors. For example, instead of Fresno chilies, use habanero for more spice. It also matters if you wash the seeds out or leave them in. (The membrane around the seeds is very spicy.) This recipe probably rates a 4/10 in terms of spiciness but it has a lot of flavor. Feel free to play around with the different ingredient proportions.
The Art of Titanfall 2 had this to say about Pilot Classes:
>We're taking a step back into the earliest stages of gameplay development with these prototype Pilot sketches. "We weren't sure how the Pilots would be used yet, so we were trying all kinds of ideas from the tradional engineer classes to weird nonspecific designs," adds Art Director Joel Emslie.
>"One thing that we kept with the heavy Pilots was the idea of the robotic arm they wear on their backs to help them with tactical gear."
-
And about the flying one without legs:
>"An early concept for light pilots was to remove their legs entirely, but it seemed a bit too abstract in the end," says Joel Emslie. "We needed the Pilots to feel physically bound to the ground so that their moves could still have weight."
-
And that's not all - Some of the code for Pilot Classes was left in the game, including a detailed description of each class' role and weapons.
-
Edit: The Pilot silhouettes on the "flying craft" may only be included for scale. They also appear without caption on a page labeled "Turrets & Drones" in the art book.

Brad also uploaded a clean look at several decals/signage, and how they fit into the Titanfall world. (and another amazing album on iconography that warranted its own thread)
-
For his Titanfall 1 stuff, Brad uploaded a ton of amazing art on his personal website here.
-
For other concept art and more - this is your hub.
-
Fun Fact: This glorious piece of art was the very first concept art made after Respawn was founded,
by future Art Director Joel Emsliealso by Brad Allen. Pretty crazy that the creature pictured made it into the final game. (Sources: The Final Hours of Titanfall and Brad Allen's site above)Personally, I grew up with Gundam Wing on Toonami so that will always hold a special place for me as a starting point into the Gundam Universe. That being said, it's technically an alternate universe to the original "universal century" timeline. Starting with the original Mobile Suit Gundam would be the chronologically correct way, but it aired in 1979 so the animation is a little... well I'll just say old school. They did remaster and condense it into 3 movies which is nice so you could start there. It's ~$30 on Amazon
If the animation seems too old school for you, I would recommend The 08th MS Team which takes place during the original timeline but is a side story. They also aired it on Toonami when I was growing up so it was my entry into the main timeline of the Gundam universe. I bought it on Amazon back in the day but it seems to be unavailable now. If you Google "stream 08th ms team" the first link seemed to work.
Otherwise, if you're okay starting with an alternate universe setting, start with Gundam Wing like most of my generation did. The mobile suit designs are great and you could compare some of them to Titanfall in that each has their own uniqueness to them. Heavyarms = Legion mixed with Tone, Wing Zero = Northstar mixed with Ion, Sandrock = Ronin (if Ronin had an SMG instead of a shotgun). Anyway, I also bought the complete collection on Amazon back in the day but it's sadly unavailable now as well. I would say just torrent this one.
I really wish it was, it'd make sense to capitalize off the press the new DLC is getting with a good sale to rope in new players. I wish they went for a permanent price drop, actually. I want more people playing!
Amazon has some new PC copies from some high rated third party sellers in the $30ish range, that's the best I can really find right now.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01GKGVI8K/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new
Greenman has it for $45 if you don't want to wait for shipping.

Hope you pick it up! We can always use more pilots. It's a fun game.
Heyo
So you may or may not be looking for advice on headphones but just wanted to throw this out there.
If you're after a pair of cans that sound good but are also decently priced I'd probably go with these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001K3ENEA?pc_redir=1398327848&robot_redir=1
When I'm not playing games I do a lot of home recording and quite happily use them for both recording and gaming. Great sound without getting into crazy price territory.
Peace!
As fs2d said, you can download the trial to give it a go, which contains the tutorial and a single player mission. You could also buy the game, play it as much as you like within 24 hours and then refund it for any reason - Check out Origin's Great Game Guarantee for more details.
Alternatively, you could download the trial to see how it runs and then get it on Amazon for $30
It's all really fascinating stuff, and I wonder what Titanfall would be like if Respawn still had access to the assets that THEY created. If you want to know more here is a $3 book about the topic.

User reviews are 6.2 for Titanfall 1, 8.2 for Titanfall 2. Critic reviews are generally a little better for the second game as well.

User reviews on Amazon are noticeably higher for the second game.

Honestly, the mp is the most important part of this game, so I can't see a disparity of this size existing unless people think the mp is at least as good as TF1's.

If people believed TF2 had a better SP (since it has one) but a worse MP I can't see the reviews for TF2 being better this consistently.
Unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot, since it’s an old game, but there is a backpack that seems pretty good. Everyone who got it says it’s good.
[Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/Titanfall-Officially-Licensed-Not-Machine-Specific/dp/B01GVJU0OY) for $85 USD. I got lucky and won mine on Twitter.
I'd say go for it. You can pick it up for pretty cheap on Amazon.
For two dollars more you can get the digital version.
Gamestop has it for 10 dollars pre-owned.
All in all, a very good game with a lot of content to unlock and get you through it.
When I was searching for my first proper gaming headset (not just a default Microsoft mic lol), I settled on Refurbished XO Sevens. Price went from 160 to 100 dollars cuz the refurbish, but then a couple weeks later Black Friday showed up for $100. Should've gotten them haha!
But the price seemed to go have gone down a lot. Checking Amazon, it's $72 https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Titanfall-Official-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00HRKE1SI?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0
Get it at Amazon, it's $10, I'm in the same boat as you. Believe me the community size hasn't been an issue for me. I was able to find as many matches as I wanted in both Frontier and Hardpoint (similar to Battlefield's Conquest, control points until you have X number of score, win/lose, cycle map and repeat.)
The game is just fantastic. Your BF / Infantry skills will serve you and so will your "think outside the box" skills when your titan comes into play.
Amazon Holloween sale Titanfall digital standard etd
Note that this doesn't include the DLC but I've heard it can be harder to match-make on those maps. If you really want the full package then the Origin store has the DLC season pass for 17.99 until tomorrow (tuesday 11/4/14).
This beautiful book The Art of Titanfall
As far as I know, there were two versions. One was the super limited edition, and the other was the standard edition that anybody could get. I got the latter on Amazon.

During the Titanfall 1 days, my sources were:
Though I never actually bought it until recently, "The Art of Titanfall" has a lot of great information, much of which you'll find on the wiki. Definitely worth the buy. "The Art of Titanfall 2" is also good but doesn't contain as much straightforward lore as its predecessor, despite having some beautiful concept art and tragically excluded models and environments.
