1. Vive Lotion Applicator for Your Back (4 Pads) - Long Reach Handle with Sponge for Easy Self Application of Shower Bath Body Wash Brush, Skin Cream, Suntan, Tanning, Aloe - Men, Women

    Features:
  • EASILY SELF APPLY LOTIONS, CREAMS AND GELS: Evenly apply lotions, creams, ointments, gels, moisturizers and sunscreens with the Vive lotion applicator. Eliminating the need to bend and twist to apply moisturizers to hard to reach areas, the lotion applicator handle is over 17” in length, with a 3.5” applicator pad for easy self applications.
  • INCLUDES 4 TEXTURED APPLICATOR PADS: Each applicator pad is textured to hold lotions, creams, ointments and gels without dripping or sliding off. The applicator pads are constructed with a dense foam that will not absorb the lotion, but allow it to be evenly distributed on the targeted area. Conveniently replaceable, the lotion applicator comes with three applicator pads.
  • NONSLIP EXTENDED REACH HANDLE: The curved, 17-inch handle is made of a durable lotus wood that will not split or crack. A nonslip textured rubber grip provides a comfortable and secure grip. Convenient for hanging storage, the handle’s cord loop is also large enough to slide on your wrist to prevent dropping while applying creams or lotions.
  • DURABLE FINISH: Coated with a clear waterproof layer, the lotus wood handle is also durable.
  • VIVE GUARANTEE: 60 day guarantee so you can purchase now with confidence.

Check out the latest re release of Sailor Jerry's stencils!

As far as history, check out any available autobiographies or biographies on tattooers. Also, I've heard this book is good, but I've never read it.

While not a book, the documentary "Hori Smoku" about Sailor Jerry is excellent and features a lot of great old tattooers (Ed Hardy, Lyle Tuttle, Mike Malone, etc.) who tell some great stories.

This looks like it might be good. I’m not an artist and I don’t have any interests in mandalas. Part of the reason why I deleted my comment, lol. I realized it really wasn’t my place to speak.
But, this one looks like it might give you information on the history of it and where you might put your colors

When I got my back done, I used a back loofa, like this one on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Back-Lotion-Applicator-Vive-Application/dp/B01LBM0K28/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502393987&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=back+lotion+applicator&psc=1

I could apply my usual tattoo cream using this, and let it heal just like any other ink. Hope this helps.
