I play with thinking putty a lot and also kinetic sand believe it or not (but only at home because it’s a bit messy. The shampoo for this is okay but try to get this treatment product first. Be careful not to end up overwashing your hair so just twice a week is what you should aim for
50/50 is great odds, especially compared to alternative treatments. I couldn't find NAC in tablet form, or small capsule sizes, but if you find tablets you could try halving them with a pill cutter. I also found NAC in a powder form--I haven't tried it myself, but perhaps it's worth trying.

I found some of these at work and even if it's just on one finger, I feel like I twist my hair less overall.
I bought both on Amazon - I use the actual oil not shampoo. I usually massage it into my scalp every couple of nights and then sleep with it on. Typically I wrap up my head with a scarf or bandana just so the oil doesn't get on my pillowcase and cause breakouts on my face later.

I know he’s on the littler side, but these really help me with mine. Not sure if they’d be a choking hazard for a 5-year-old though.
I also pick at my legs. It doesn’t help that I have keratosis pilaris. I tried using an epilator for a while, but I kept ending up with ingrown hairs that I would then pick at some more.
I tend to pick at my legs when I’m very anxious.
One thing that I’ve found recently is AmLactin. If I’m consistent with it, I barely have anything to pick at on my legs. I’ve been thinking about trying the epilator again and then using AmLactin 24hrs after, and continue with it daily.
