Thanks, it was fun putting it together. Not saying you have to copy it exact, but here was my parts list if you wanted to.

2 of these, one top and one bottom and the plastic for the display

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LB6W0U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The glove ... just had to clip off the key ring part

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D67RNQB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The base

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BKWLNEI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The baseball display cases have a mirrored bottom, so I knocked it out of the bottom one so the light from the base shines through, and it hits the top mirror and looks great. I had to use some thin eva foam to level off the rounded bottom of the glove and cover the top of the upside down baseball case, but it looks great. You can get a plaque on Amazon or any local engraver's shop. I got mine on Amazon and it was for a different base that didn't work out, so its a little too big for the bottom, but its fine.

I picked up a 6 player turn clock to help speed the game up. https://www.amazon.com/DGT-Cube-Timer-Chess-Clock/dp/B004S56RJG

Everyone's timer for each turn is set at 1:30, and it shames you into making moves. Once someone decides they are doing something like building units, we generally move to the next players turn unless the build of units has an impact in what the next player plans to do. We pause the timers for combats and resolving secondary strategy card abilities. The colors of the cube are even 5/6 right, which can help identify "Who's turn is it? Who's next?" which also helps speed the game up. It is generally the responsibility of the person who currently holds the cube to find the person who's turn it is next and hand it off to them, although sometimes I still have to be on top of moving the turns along. We have done the last few games in 1h/player, which is pretty good!

Here's what we did to store our TI4 in the box. I stole the idea from user bigegg on the bgg forums in this thread--

https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1885145/storage-solution-box

Some of his details are incorrect and he has no references for what he actually used or bought, so that's what I'm doing here.

Ground force tokens, trade good tokens, and other misc things go in one of these: (EDIT: we clipped off the little hanger thing on the end because it made the box just barely not fit) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E39T4Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Action card deck and Agenda deck each gets one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002TT3KW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Seventeen of these for the race tokens and cards, one for the planet deck, and one for the objective deck, for a total of nineteen:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002TT3KM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Lastly, these six boxes are for the ships and the colored cards--the tech decks and promissory notes: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K2DREPO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Everything all together was around $50.

We cut the planet tray out of the rest of the tray with a box knife, and we put the strategy cards atop one of the stacks of planets. The victory track we ended up moving to the top of the race boxes so it would lay flat. Other than that, the books and stuff sit on top of everything, and the box closes up no problem. It's considerably heavier than before due to all the added plastic, of course, but it's looking like cleanup and set up will be much easier with this method because all anybody will need to grab is their color box and their race box. Hope this helps!

Edit: Ah also forgot to mention--we sleeved everything in these. They are thinner than the FFG ones and therefore fit in our plastic cases:

Buy these. Think they are what I got and work perfectly
https://www.amazon.com/Rubber-3-00X1-00mm-Mechanical-Black-Washers/dp/B01J50NMLE/ref=sr_1_15?keywords=3mm+rubber+washer&qid=1571071572&sr=8-15

I would not glue them.

If you use these washers you can take them apart and store them were you keep the tiles and just keep the posts in a small box with the washers in the game. Use a washer at the top and at the bottom like in my example here.

Use one of these for the "active player" marker
https://www.amazon.com/Polder-Digital-Hourglass-Kitchen-Silver/dp/B000I9JJD2
No turn skipping if the timer runs out but have some silly thing you need to do if the timer runs out on you. We made a big duct tape crown with a big "AP" on the front of it you need to wear until it's your turn again.
Also notebooks. In our TI box we have a little mole skin notebook for each race in the game, each with a little printed and shitty glued on decale of the races icon. Each time you play you plot out your next turn or take notes on your ideas in these books and date each game. that way we have the logged history of each civilization to look back on, and it helps turns go faster when you don't need to "Re-figure out" what you were going to do when you had the perfect plan ten min ago.

Sure!

  • 6 x Plano 3650N cases (Amazon seems to have the Creative Options version on offer instead.)
  • 2 x 10pc small storage containers (found them in the food storage aisle at a Dollar Tree).
  • 2 x Extra 35 stick pack gum. Do what you want with the gum but leave the containers open for a while unless you like your cards smelling like mint.
  • 500 count mini-American sleeves.

u/real-dreamer · 4 pointsr/twilightimperium

How did you make the corners super round?

I'd really like that. My current cards are sharp and pointy.

Aha! Found out.

Which opening did you cut with?

u/jotakami · 1 pointr/twilightimperium

I got six of these boxes for the units. They were $15 for three when I bought them but seems like the price has gone up... maybe you can find an equivalent. The size is perfect though; you can just fit the two war suns and flaghip in one compartment.

u/dontnormally · 2 pointsr/twilightimperium

Thanks, I ended up getting this based on your post!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RQRFWJJ

I'm looking forward to using it with our next game :)

u/a1blank · 1 pointr/twilightimperium

I think these are the boxes (amazon). I have a bunch that I use for my other boardgames, so I'm glad to see they fit the cards. Looks like they are a size bigger than the ones in my link.

u/Coastal_Sasqtch · 1 pointr/twilightimperium

I separated all the different factions in 8x12 ziploc bags. I found these on Amazon and they are perfect. Each faction has its own bag with everything except the home tiles. Plus, the box closes flush once I pierced a hole in each bag.

u/houdinis_revenge · 1 pointr/twilightimperium

Use the ultra pro 25 card holders for the tokens. as for the units you just need to find some nice fitting plastic containers and then cut up the original insert.

if you do this you can just go to target or somewhere to buy the containers.
