If you wanted to look a little higher, you could look for the equivalent GTX 970 cards from Nvidia. The GTX 960 should be able to run most games at full resolution and a good framerate.
I picked the non-K Intel Core-i7-4790 over the K version as the K is unlocked for overclocking. I recommend the Nvidia card because I've personally had a lot of good luck with the drivers for Nvidia with current games (as you want to play). AMD sometimes has had minor issues with getting drivers in good shape as soon as Nvidia.
While EVGA has been a very solid hardware company, you may find a slightly better deal on the GPU if you try to find a Gigabyte or Asus version (Amazon will display the similar cards on the original EVGA GTX970 page. Either of those alternatives should be reliable). This is a proven and popular CPU and GPU pair. Hope it helps you decide.
Note: not sure how large your computer's case is inside. If the GPU is physically too large/long, there are slightly smaller single fan versions available that aren't quite as large and a little slower.
