So yea... I bought the 16 Pro. Mostly unaware of its issues.
Took a while, but once I got it to work I couldn't be happier.

Its a weird thing to say since so much people has been shaming this model. And to be honest it has a lot of issues, specially with product shipment.

For all the issues you stated, I had them and I managed to work it out. Just be sure to buy this baby: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XVYZ82/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
(or any mini DP to DP that some people have been testind and managed to make it work. I used this one and it was fine for me.)

If you use the wacom link + miniDP to DP cable = should work perfectly in 4k.
I am using a GTX 980 and it works in 4k without a problem.
If your 970 supports 4k then it wouldn't be a problem. I would not recommend it for you if you have an AMD card since I had errors trying the 4k in my RX480 card.

The hardware is great, the problem is really just the software. Wacom's drivers still suck and you will need something like Lazy Nezumi's stabilizer to help with the infamous wavy lines.

And, to be honest. Even tho it is full of problems, I would still buy it again. Cuz it is a gorgeous display, and even tho I come from Intuos Pro, I felt a lot of difference from Pro Pen 1 to the newest Pro pen 2 model.

Still... it is your call :)

My favorite stand for the MSP16 turned out to be an old Keynamics Aviator that I bought over 12 years ago to go with a massive HP mobile workstation- It's inexpensive, super stable, very compact when disassembled, and cantilevers over the edge of the desk to put the drawing surface in the perfect spot for me. I used to use it with my Wacom Cintiq 12wx many moons ago as well.

The 'hooks' in the front that hold the tablet are pretty much exactly as high as the MSP16 is thick so they don't get in the way of my drawing hand at all. I can post photos of my setup when I get back home if anyone is interested.

Here's the product:

I had the same problem with the Intuos ctl-4100. I've used it just a month and it stinks really bad, literally cat pee. Till now I've used an Intuos Pro, and an old Bamboo using it all day at work, but it was all good for years.
The problem is that the sweat from the palm interacts with the rubber and produces this unpleasant smell. I've tried different methods and the best thing till now is a FACE TONER. (Garnier Organic Thyme Perfecting Toner)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Garnier-Organic-Thyme-Perfecting-Toner/dp/B07MTT3W6LApply
Apply the toner on a cotton pad and wipe the pen. Maybe is the Alcohol Denat or other ingredients all together from the toner, but it really helps.

Ive tried this and it works well enough, (certainly cheaper than buying a Wacom express key remote!). I've been wanting to try a Clip Studio Tabmate, (which is similar to a wiimote, but with more buttons and 'made' for this purpose). What would be great is if CSP for iOS added support for this sort of thing too.

I have a 13HD on a home-made VESA adapter connected to an Ergotron Arm and really like the setup.

If you are talking a tabletop stand, and are okay with just landscape orientation you can use:

I would second getting at least a Medium if possible. As soon as you get to school and past the mandatory analog courses, you'll wish you had a larger tablet. Ideally your school will have some Cintiqs to practice on as well, and going from a Cintiq to a small Intuos won't be fun.

So yea, https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-digital-graphics-drawing-painting/dp/B010LHRVOY seems like a good bet

u/SgtWiggles · 3 pointsr/wacom

That really sucks, sorry about your issues.

As far as the stand goes, there are plenty of good alternatives. I got this one and it works absolutely perfect for the 16", and its extremely easy to carry.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016LKWLO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also to anyone else buying a MSP, maybe Amazon would be a better alternative? Just not having to deal with Wacom seems like a plus, plus they have accident protection plans

Pen displays generally have three connections: Video, data, power. This model uses a DVI-D cable for video. Power adapter is POW-A131 for the non-touch, and POW-A120 for the touch model. Then the USB-B to A cable for data, he's one from Amazon that should work: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB-2-0-Cable-Male/dp/B00NH11KIK (these cables are very generic and standard, so compatibility is never really an issue so long as you get the right connector type).

Since you are getting a video signal, I wouldn't bother changing those other cables. Just swap this one and see what happens, if it doesn't fix it --- the issue could be the computer, but more likely an issue with the Cintiq itself (my money's on the cable tho).

Good luck

These are both H1060P's but one is amazon uk and one is amazon. com. Uk one doesn't mention tilt and even in the reviews, someone said that they wasn't a tilt function.

In the Amazon.com version, it says to contact them for free tilt function upgrade?

wacom makes a vesa mount for the pro 24. its 79 dollars or so usd. You can also get wacoms ergotron arm kit that is designed to hold the extra weight. it is 379 usd. it comes with the arm and the vesa mount. the arm was designed to also hold the weight of the wacom cintiq 32 so its a pretty strong arm. You can use your own arm with the 69 dollar vesa mount but it will bounce / wiggle more than wacoms custom ergotron arm.

wacoms flex arm kit - https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-ACK62803K-Flex-Arm/dp/B07KGXCDKR

wacoms vesa mount. arm in picture is not included. - https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-ACK62804K-Cintiq-VESA-Mount/dp/B07HRG7HV8

also just a tip. if you use either kit make sure you put the back cover back on BEFORE you bolt on the vesa mount. its pretty hard to get the back cover to properly snap on AFTER you bolted onthe vesa mount.

u/MadSusie · 1 pointr/wacom

Apparently this one works.

https://www.amazon.com/Fujitsu-Digitizer-replacement-Stylus-T5000/dp/B00791UTH2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1550174219&sr=8-4&keywords=surface+pro+2+pen

Also, the Bamboo Feel stylus (model number CS300UW) works as well, but its super hard to find. There is a more expensive 'Carbon' version. Make sure its the right model number, because Wacom's naming conventions can get confusing.

it is odd it knocks out the laptop display when connected, if it only shows the mouse cursor but no display, it must be the video connection that's at fault. I assume the switch on the wacom box is set to dvi?

i'd like to know what cable it is that you are using, on page 13 of the manual it shows the dvi connection on the back of the wacom box.

https://www.wacom.com/-/media/wacomdotcom/files/store-manuals/legacy-models/cintiq12wx-usermanual-final.pdf

on the hdmi-dvi cable, does it have the extra pins on the side as the dvi-i cable or does it look like dvi-d? the wacom box shows a dvi-i connector. dvi cables are shown on page 12

Update!

looking further into your problem, it looks like it is better to use the dvi cable they provided and use an adapter that is hdmi to dvi (female) and connect the provided dvi cable into it and other end in to the wacom box.

https://www.amazon.com/HDMI-DVI-D-Video-Cable-Adapter/dp/B009YCASUW/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=hdmi+to+dvi+female+adapter&qid=1550443848&s=gateway&sr=8-3#customerReviews

searching the questions for wacom brought up this

Q: I have a wacom cintiq 12wx - will this connect that dvi to the hdmi port on my mbp and work?A: Hi,

Using our HDDVIMF8IN to go from a HDMI source to the Wacom Cintiq 12WX should work for you.

Thanks for your comment.

The cintiq arrived today. Yes, the WACOM LINK ADAPTER is not necessary. Until yet we just get it to Work with 2560x1440@60Hz via DP/HDMI.

We tried this cable, which should support 4K:
Lenovo 0B47091 Mini-Display Port to Display Port Cable
https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Mini-DisplayPort-Kabel-schwarz/dp/B008XTW666/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1542629556&sr=8-3-fkmr1&keywords=lenovo+displayport+4k

The standard HDMI Cable from WACOM also seems to go to 2560x1440px@60Hz.

u/c4ge1nvisibl3 · 2 pointsr/wacom

Yeah man it will work, I'm using my cintiq like that, I have the Startec Hdmi to DisplayPort, however, you need an extra Displayport to minidisplayport cable, don't worry if the name is backwards, it'll work, however even if it says it works in 4k, mine only allows upto 1080p, but Wacom has said in some foorums that using HDMI with 4k would cause a terrible lag as refresh rate is not that high, unless you have HDMI 2.0, but the adapter isn't HDMI 2.0. This will cost 50 bucks (plus shipping), but, as others said maybe, if you have a desktop pc, a new video card with minidiaplay or just display port would be awesome, as you would get better performance, but as far as I know most software it not designed to use your graphic card cores, at most, as far as i remeber, only video or 3d software does that, and of course videogames. Well there you go.

u/tovare · 2 pointsr/wacom

Hi,

I have one of those Intuos tablets with a pen strap attached to it (and also a Cintiq with the same solution), it works well.

Just as a suggestion:

You could try the same on any device I think (I´m not sure the glue is made to come off):

https://www.amazon.com/LEUCHTTURM1917-304637-Leuchtturm-Loop-Black/dp/B002CWMAPW

It´s a bit tighter than the non-flexible Wacom uses but it works with one hand with the Pro Pen 2, and I need to wiggle a bit with the Intuos Small pen (which doesnt taper). The piece that attaches is tough quality plastic.

It sticks very well, so you might have to work a bit if you want it off again.

Things LEUCHTTURM1917 makes is a bit expensive, but it´s decent stuff (think Moleskine upgrade)

Recently bought this stand:
Aidata LHA-3 LAPstand Aluminum Portable Laptop Stand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0016LKWLO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kXRuybXJ713WT

It's very thin metal, making portable and includes a slip case, which I guess can be used as a mouse pad too.

I recommend getting some large rubber feet to stick on the top so the back of the MobileStudio Pro doesn't rest on the metal or the raises plastic logo. This means the rubber feet need to be thicker than the logo.

The feet at the bottom that holds laptops in place are metal covers in rubber. Plus they don't get in the way of your hand.

Seems stable enough and even raises the screen up a little. Several angles to choose from.

Only down side, the metal can be noisy setting up and putting away. It also has a disc on the bottom that rotates the stand. You can remove this to make it thinner and the stand still has its own rubber feet.

I bought one of these to be able to use my CC1/MSP16 on the go: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072JWN6LC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's kind of expensive, but it allows you to continually charge the machine for about 3-4 hours, then use the computer battery until it runs out. It's super handy.

u/tox-box · 1 pointr/wacom

Ok, thanks. Will any miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort cable work? Like this one (first result on google).

u/Lucy-N · 1 pointr/wacom

I bought the Wacom Intuos S (wireless) as my first drawing tablet. It was only 75€ I absolutely love this tablet and I highly recommendit to you! Altough I don't use it wirelessly anymore because I noticed some lag. While using it with the USB cable there is no lag at all. I haven't figured it out the reason behind it yet, but to be honest I'm also too lazy to fix it lol and the cable doesnt even bother me, it's never in the way. Also it's a "small" sized tablet but I find it more than enough for me.

If you can't find a motherboard with USB C display port alt, then why not just purchase a PCI-e add on card instead.
https://www.amazon.com/Dual-USB-C-Express-Alternate-Mode-UPD2018/dp/B01MY4WRBU
This one here's the card most people are using to connect their Cintiq Pro's to.

You connect your graphics card's displayport cable into it, then connect your Cintiq's USB C cable into the card.

Just make sure you're using the usb c cable that came with your Cintiq or some other cable that's rated for thunderbolt 3 4k 60hz output. Otherwise you might end up having disconnection issues or other problems.
Good luck now!

u/laicarys · 1 pointr/wacom

I use this one. It’s got more than one angle, it won’t slip on your desk, and it’s pretty sturdy. I’ve had no issues with it so far. Doesn’t raise the tablet though. Maybe pair it with a monitor stand riser?

Another option is to mount it to an arm. You can attach a laptop tray to an arm and put the Cintiq on that.

u/SweetMonia · 3 pointsr/wacom

As long as the USB-C supports alternate mode, then it can work, weather it's on the motherboard or not.

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who tried this in action, but this card has the specifications you need. Tell us once you try it, so we all know~

The Intuos S with BT might be a good choice for you.

I don't know of anyone who draws from their bed though. might be difficult to see what you're actually drawing.

Here are my recommendations (in order):

Wacom Pro Medium (PTH651): ebay and amazon

Wacom Intuos (CTH680): amazon

Unfortunately it is not USB C to HDMI. It's wacom link/mini displayport to displayport cable/active displayport to hdmi. I have a big ol mess of wires on my desk currently, but at least the cintiq works!
