Hi! I've been there before! When you're eating on a meal plan or limited to campus food options and may have some kitchen restrictions that other WW members don't, it can be trickier. I promise it's not impossible! The zero points foods were my lifesaver - if your cafeteria has a salad bar, load up on the filling but zero point foods. I would bring a small can of chickpeas (I think the small ones with pull tabs are usually about 80 cents at the grocery store) and bulk my salad up with those. Another thing that helped me was to eat healthy snacks often so I wasn't as tempted to eat more unhealthy stuff at lunch and dinner. Bananas, apples, chickpeas (I sure do love those little things!), beef jerky (sometimes more affordable at the dollar store than the grocery store). If you live in the dorms, maybe consider an air fryer if you're allowed to have electric appliances. I have a cheapo depot one from Amazon (this one is cheap and really compact: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075BDY5WR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 ) and I'll fry up my chickpeas, make apple chips, kale chips, or veggies that can make great snacks to take with you the next day for between classees.

This might be a long shot but also check if your campus has farming co-ops or gardening clubs. This can be a great way to meet people and get cheap or free fresh fruits and veggies!

To get my activity points, I'd take a homework break for 45-60 minutes 3 nights a week (usually my days that were shorter class schedules) and play Pokemon Go. I know that might seem lame but it got me moving, gave me a much-needed mental break and I'd always meet someone else walking around playing the game, too! Plus now they have Harry Potter and Jurassic Park themed games that are a little more fun than Pokemon :)

Another really significant factor in weight loss during school is to find healthy and active ways to relieve stress. My inclination was always to stress eat or give myself a break and watching TV for 2 hours...and eating. Find stress release that takes you away from the option of food like going for a walk, spending a few minutes mindfully breathing or meditating (the free version of the Calm app is pretty good!) or finding some free classes your college offers through the student associations (yoga and fitness dancing were popular ones at my campus).

You'll find what works for you! You've got this!

If it is in your budget, I definitely recommend this program. My boyfriend does it and he really likes it. Diamond Dallas Page has saved very injured wrestlers lives (and regular people too!) so he knows his stuff more than the average perky aerobics instructor.

The thing about it is that it is geared toward men so the yoga moves have "dude" names & he demos the moves on mostly hot blonde models. There are a few demo dudes, but I found the ladies more helpful since I am a lady.

My personal favorite is Leslie Sansone. She does a "walk away the pounds" program. There are tons of her videos on youtube for you to try & if you like them you can buy them on ebay for cheap used or digital on amazon. Honestly, stick with the videos where she has bad 90s hair & the people behind her look "normal" and are all shapes/sizes. If she has Snooki hair & fitness models, skip those for now, since many people find them to be more intense/harder for beginners.

Her videos are all about walking in place + doing 4 basic moves and it gets your heart rate up, but it isn't a dance routine style of aerobics (I am terrible at the ones where you keep adding moves). If any of the moves are out of your range of motion, just keep walking in place! You will get a great workout from just the walking, I promise!

Right now I use a personal trainer at the gym at work 2x a week, but I made her do a leslie sansone video on youtube & she said she was surprised how aerobic it was!

Leslie has an app that you can try for free where she sets a calendar with different video segments & rest days so you know what you should be doing, which is what I think you might be looking for.

Start with a mile each day and if you feel ready, do a bit of mile 2 each time. You can modify by repeating videos or skipping them.

This is the video I started with - It used to be on demand and I did it every day & I lost 25 pounds. (I have lost a total of 40 pounds to make Lifetime at WW)

https://www.amazon.com/gimMe-Organic-Premium-Roasted-Seaweed/dp/B00BCG0OAC nori strips - salty and crunchy, can distract me from chips! (1pt) I agree with good thins corn and salsa- when i feel super snacky that gets me far. banana dipped in PB2 chocolate powder (1pt) Or I make riffs of Elote salad- pending how many points I want to spend I use corn, scallions, chili powder, garlic, FF eta (lower pt option) or FF mayo (higher pt option)- super yummy, and put over romaine if I need more filling. Can also add in black or pinto beans for more of a side dish/lunch... and of course a tumaro wrap (1Pt) with FF refried beans (0pts) and some reduced fat feta or cheddar, salsa, lettuce, etc!

I have this food scale which I love... scale
A full size mirror was helpful before i fell off the wagon(got sick and was put on medications) because even if the body scale wasn't showing progress the mirror does. I know you probably share finances, but it may be helpful to get her a gift card for the grocery store or costco or something because I know it was hard for me to splurge on ingredients and foods i needed to stock my pantry because the initial cost is pretty high. the giftcard will help because she won't feel guilty 'treating herself' to these foods! A wok was also helpful!

I always keep a bag of honeycrisp apples and an apple slicer at my desk. Bananas are great too but don't keep fresh as long. I also have a small stash of WW branded chip bags/protein bars, and Pure Protein Bars (they feel like eating a candy bar and most of them are only 5 points and extremely filling)... I personally like to keep an abundance of zero point stuffs and just a small pile the snacks with points because I instinctively will go for whatever snack I have the most of. Good luck ditching the vending machine!

For an easy snack, Motts has some no sugar added applesauces. They come single serve, have a few flavor options, don't need to be refrigerated (although I think they taste better refrigerated), AND are 0 points :)

I also stock up on small single serve items around Halloween (when it's easier to find them in sotres). I'm really fond of these bags of mini cheese balls that Utz puts out (1 point a pack!). https://www.amazon.com/Cheese-Treats-Individually-Wrapped-Gluten-Free/dp/B00H3JLN1G/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=QH6E7D7GJ9RA6Y4EF7SN I maaaaay have bought like 6 boxes of them this Halloween so they'll last me a while (hopefully until they're back on the shelves and I can get them for like $4 a box again!)

Ha! Well since you asked...

I know I’m probably treading perilously close to gatekeeping here, but being able to drink black coffee largely depends on the coffee itself. Folgers and Maxwell House? Eww. If you have good coffe, you’ll enjoy drinking it black. And I’m not saying it has to be some expensive boutique coffee, either. I order this from Amazon and it’s delicious all by itself! My wife and I drink a pot of it every morning. Zero points.

you’ll never catch me without a pitcher of it in my fridge—i drink all two gallons in a week, sometimes two. it’s great for working out and hangovers, helps me stay away from sugary beverages, and i actually started drinking it instead of coffee and have felt 10x better since making that change. and now i’ve found a fun way to incorporate it into my adult beverages 😈

I strongly recommend buying a shipping scale. For the same price as a fancy bathroom scale they are accurate down to a twentieth of a pound and never gives a bad reading. Been using this for years and I love it.

WeighMax W-4830 Industrial Postal Scale 330lb https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AKV422/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_UP75Ab93C5G5K

Also, always only weigh yourself in the morning, after you use the toilet and before you eat or drink anything, and only naked or in your underwear. That way you are sure to always be comparing apples to apples. Your weight can fluctuate so much throughout the day depending on what you eat and what you're wearing.

I just bought this one on Amazon. It's a 17 month planner!!! At the beginning of each month it has a page where you can check boxes off for whatever you want. I love this concept. I used to make my own and nearly did a happy dance when I saw this...

> Can I seriously have anything off the SF list within a satisfying, not overeating amount and not have it count against my daily/weekly points?

Yes, the key point is it is about eating to satisfaction (vs. eating until full). If you are interested in the science behind Simply Filling check out the books by Barbara Rolls on Volumetrics (link)

Yes! This planner - it's undated so you can use it whenever (and if you don't use it awhile for vacation or whatever, you don't lose the pages). It has spaces for both meal plans and your fitness plan each day. FWIW I own this and it looks a little cheaper in person than in the picture, but it's worth it for the helpful layout. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GNB51LW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Diaper rash cream. Butt Paste brand. Great stuff. And put some powder on top of it. Also those little lightweight spandex type shorts. Like these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KDGK7I6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
