10 troy oz Johnson Matthey 1985 Statue of Liberty .999 silver round.

As of 07/27/2017 10:23pm CST the spot price of silver is $16.60

Therefore the asking price of the round is 166.00 USD.

Twenty years ago the highes price per oz for silver was 6.38 USD, meaning that the most your grandparents would have paid for that round was approximately $63.80 before inflation.

This value does not account for premium, which will be dictated by the rounds rarity and the general demand for it. Silver patina, called toning in this case, does not devalue silver. Removing patina from old silver rounds like this will destroy any premium and collectibility the round carries, however it will always be worth its weight in silver, cleaned or uncleaned.

If you want to sell it you are likely to get the best value by visiting /r/Pmsforsale. You can sell it to a gold & silver dealer or a pawn shop, however they're more than likely to buy well under the current price per oz.

Silver is a dimagnetic material, meaning that an applied magnetic field will create an induced magnetic field in the silver oriented in the opposite direction, causing a repulsive force. If you have a strong neodymium magnet and you try to stick it to the coin, you should feel a very slight resistance if it's real silver.

Silver purity can be tested with nitric acid. High purity silver will turn brown in solution with nitric acid. Sterling and lower will turn a bluish green in solution with nitric acid. Test kit available here.

While less reliable, you can test silver with the ping test. Pure silver will resonate harmonically, like a bell, when struck. Example here.

Normally one would use the volume control on the AV amp if you're cascading bits of equipment this way, but it doesn't really matter.

As for multi-channel:

The latter generation of DVD players, and (I think) all Blu-Ray players use a single connection for their audio output - either an optical fibre (called Toslink) or a single RCA cable which carries the multi-channel audio as a digital data stream. Some PC sound cards also support this.

The multi-channel aspect is typically front left, front right, centre, rear left and rear right channels (and sometimes rear centre and upper rear left and right on real high-end stuff - I think it's DTS EX).

It's really intended mostly for the home-cinema application, but I think some computer games / consoles also support multi-channel (computer games aren't my thing).

If you want multiple sources at the same time, you're going to need a little sound mixer (and a bunch more cabling).

Something like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rolls-MX42-Stereo-Mini-Mixer/dp/B00102ZN40/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1519158264&sr=8-6&keywords=mini+sound+mixer

You'd plug your computer games unit / PC into one input, and the Beomaster 5500 into another input, and the output from the mixer goes off to the input on the AV amp. I'd imagine smaller and cheaper mixers are available (bigger ones certainly are - I look after two of these at work : http://sportsvideo.org/main/files/2011/08/IMG_0221.sized_.jpg)

One of my former tennants used a similar mini mixer to do exactly what you describe, and seemed to get on just fine with it.

Same - This was a great gift I got: A3 history of loads of Soviet posters with translations/explanations - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Russian-Revolutionary-Posters-David-King/dp/1849760195 Edit: better link

It's a heavy-duty wall timer but it's pretty much impossible to say what it might be controlling. The little steel wedges are the on/off times so maybe pay attention when those hit the little arrow at the top?

If you look at the questions and reviews in that Amazon link here are some possibilities: Whole-house exhaust fan, hot water circulator, bathroom fan, outside lights, etc.

Also lots of reviews complaining of the noise it makes.

Definitely air shocks with a sleeve:

https://www.amazon.com/Air-Lift-75566-Sleeve-Shock/dp/B005DJ92MK/ref=asc_df_B005DJ92MK/

I don't know the application for something that large. Not a car. Maybe a truck? Could even be for a non-automotive use like tilting a stage, etc...

They look new and they look expensive. Congrats on the nice donation!

Its a kind of generic Slim Jewel Case (Slimline) but they are J-card compatible (which is the type of insert of cover art) and they are 7mm thick not 5mm the usual ones are, usually used in European and Japanese market.

Amazon link this are the ones i was looking for, thanks for the help! its hard to look for something specific at midnight and some alcohol in your blood.

You know, I think you might be right - I've found these on amazon and there are 500 or so different kinds and brands - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chef-Aid-Stainless-Steel-Adhesive/dp/B006A7B7HC Looks like you solved it as much as we'll ever know, thanks very much!

It’s a tool used to help someone put on a bracelet if your alone. You put one end of the bracelet in the clamp, hold it in the hand you want the bracelet on, and you can use your other hand to clasp it.Miles Kimball Bracelet Tool Jewelry Helper

Posting here so others will see. This post has been solved. The dinosaur is actually from a movie called Dinotopia The Quest for the Ruby Sunstone, her name is 26! She is not Cera from The Land Before Time. Thank you all for your help.
Here's a link for the movie on Amazon- https://www.amazon.com/Dinotopia-Quest-Ruby-Sunstone-DVD/dp/B001HOESXS

Is it this one? https://www.amazon.com/HP-Blizzard-i7-7700-GeForce-Graphic/dp/B07BPD913X

Looks like there might have been some rubber bumpers there to protect the monitor when it's open. The rubber parts likely fell off and this is just the support material beneath them.

Solved! One of the related items links is spot on the same thing. Makes sense since it probably was used for a stage trick at one time. Not sure where the key went though. Thanks for the help!

Here's the other one that looks the same- https://www.amazon.co.uk/Funkenring-Magic-Trick-Sparking-Flasher/dp/B00FLZDPAQ

Ok, I found a better pic of the back panel of a 102 Controller. It has two input channels (left and right, usually) for audio and a third input channel for "voice" in mono. It's really designed to be the controller that EQs your input for the speakers, not as a mixer or switcher for multiple sources. You should really add some kind of mixer or switcher between this and your sources to do it properly.

I wouldn't try wiring your aux input to the vacant "Voice" input as it looks like it does some "clever" EQ to optimize for speech, and will make your input sound terrible. (As well as only being half of the signal.)

In short, add a mixer of some kind. (How about this: https://www.amazon.com/Rolls-MX42-Stereo-Mini-Mixer/dp/B00102ZN40. Twice as big as you need but hey, it's $50.)

This device is there to protect your speakers and make them pretend not to be tiny Bose POS speakers. It's not the right way to get the signal in there.

EDIT: Unless, of course, the Aux cable is to REPLACE the existing input.... ?

Pretty sure this is a portable camp stove. You would maybe soak that pad in alcohol and set a pot on top. Something similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Esbit-Ultralight-Folding-Pocket-Tablets/dp/B001C1UGVO/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1539965937&sr=8-14&keywords=camp+stove+folding

Haven't seen one quite like that, but reminds me of a passive through window cell antenna, like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Cell-Phone-Antenna-External-Repeater/dp/B0053WE8VM

u/i_am_icarus_falling · 25 pointsr/whatisthisthing

it might not be wise to take that entire bar somewhere to be tested. if that's any type of precious metal, it's big enough to tempt others to steal it. humans have been murdering each other over shiny rocks for as long as anyone can remember. be safe, OP!

also, you can buy test kits online. here's the first silver test kit that came up on amazon, there are probably others also, if you just google "how to test silver" there are several ways involving magnets, ice, and other non-harmful tests. it would be worthwhile to slowly and closely examine the entire surface looking for any markings that might have faded/worn off, because any kind of metal should have a stamp/designation that proves what it is. if you do take it somewhere to get tested, do not take their offer to buy it, they will lowball you. good luck!

It's a helping hands. For soldering typically but for any time you need a device to hold something in place to free your hands to work on it somehow.

Reminds me of a table top one my aunt uses for pork loin on some holiday meals, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Farberware-Open-Hearth-Broiler-Rotisserie/dp/B000VL2B6Y

u/Merovean · 1 pointr/whatisthisthing

It's a timer. The metal tabs are movable and determine on/off cycle of a fan, or something like that. But, usually household vent.

u/jizzpop · 25 pointsr/whatisthisthing

Looks like a Degaussing Coil for older CRT monitors.

u/corvettecrazy · 12 pointsr/whatisthisthing

Helping hands
https://www.amazon.com/Neiko-01902-Adjustable-Magnifying-Alligator/dp/B000P42O3C/

Can use for fly tying or holding circuit boards while soldering, etc.

u/tinfoilhat38 · 38 pointsr/whatisthisthing

It’s a solid fuel camp stove. The metal part folds out and you sit a pot on top of it. The fuel blocks are burned one at a time but are stored inside of it when not in use.

Edit: similar to this
