We've got a pre-order going here that includes a 4-week meal plan and a bunch of other goodies, and supports us. Amazon also has the book, and they're selling it significantly cheaper than we are -- because they can. (We don't feel like it's fair to undercut every other retailer who might carry the book by offering it for less than retail. That said, we're happy for you to buy the book wherever you'd like.)

If you're new to 'Well Fed,' check out the 'All 3 Books' deal in our shop. That'll get you about 500 paleo recipes for $45 (plus the electronic copies, the meal plan, etc).

Edited to add point about 'buy the book where you'd like.' Because truth.

Not sure how long you are planning to run, but SaltStick caps may be good for electrolytes https://www.amazon.com/SaltStick-Electrolyte-Replacement-Capsules-Supplement/dp/B002IY96B0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1483455835&sr=8-3&keywords=salt+tablets And dates are an excellent fuel source for mid-run pick me up (and they are portable).

Crock pot meals! Crock pot chili, crock pot chicken, crock pot soups etc. I live in a really old building and I don't have a dishwasher or a disposal. I got a mesh strainer for my drain like this one from the dollar store. Make a crock pot meal, tupperware the rest for the week, and then use things like trader joes cauliflower rice/broccoli rice to beef up the meals and add a side like microwave steamed veggies or a salad. Alternatively, rotisserie chickens are ok too, I just find the chicken too dry to reheat in the microwave, but they are great for making soups or using in other dishes.

Thank you for this!!! Honestly, the thing I struggle with the most is no sugar or milk in my coffee. I LOVE my coffees and that little bit of sweetness is something I consistently look forward to. I'll definitely try this! (that said, is the oil necessary? Does it still taste good without it?)

Also, which Peptides powder do you use? This is the one I found, but I also see this creamer one.

This book was a lifesaver when I had to do an elimination diet/ Whole30 a while ago. There’s a whole section on recipes and meal plans and foods to focus on for people going through chemo. This is the best $30 I’ve ever spent.

wow, I remember when you first posted about W30 not helping with the pain and it's incredible that you finally got a diagnosis!

If you're still needing inspiration for meals check out this book for low FODMAP: https://www.amazon.com/Low-FODMAP-6-Week-Cookbook-Step-Step/dp/1592337899/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521310315&sr=8-1&keywords=suzanne+perazzini

The author has a really popular website helping people with IBS change their diets.

Also do you have access to an oven? I know you put you have the stove top but not sure if you have an actual oven. If so, definitely get a casserole dish (something like this) - it will be helpful if you do plan on cooking dishes in bulk.

My favorite gadget is my spiralizer! It makes vegetables so much more enjoyable to eat and gives the illusion of more volume.

I was unable to find it at Albertsons and instead found it at Sprouts. It's also available on Amazon.

Here's the one I drink at work and absolutely love: https://www.amazon.com/Numi-Organic-Rooibos-Spiced-Count/dp/B01ELHXM2U/ref=sr_1_3_s_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1488076902&sr=1-3&keywords=rooibos+tea+numi

Here's the one I have at home and don't love as much but have been adding cinnamon to it to make it more like the one above: https://www.amazon.com/Choice-Organic-Caffeine-Rooibos-Herbal/dp/B000RQMQAO/ref=sr_1_11_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1488076880&sr=1-11&keywords=rooibos%2Btea&th=1

Or buy a $20 mandolin. Sorry for the poorly formatted link, I’m on mobile! This is the one I have and it’s the brand a lot of professional kitchens use. No bells and whistles, but it works like a charm.

The only one i have found is pure egg white powder. It’s the only one I found without milk products, sugar, artificial sweeteners, added color or flavor, grains, or legumes. It takes some creativity to get it drinkable, but it’ll work. I decided i was better off just eating baked chicken breast. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0013OXDBU/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1520430714&sr=8-1&keywords=now+sports+egg+white+protein&dpPl=1&dpID=515SK0AudqL&ref=plSrch

Edit: found another one, unflavored bone broth protein
https://www.amazon.com/Bone-Broth-Protein-Powder-Grass/dp/B06XKCYTBV

Edit #2: for muscle recovery, do some research in to creatine and glutamine. Can get both as pure powders and mix with water. Helped me immensely with muscle recovery and cramps.

So I've been thinking about the same thing recently. I plan on making my own freezer bag meals in quart size freezer ziplocks and reconstituting with boiling water in the field in a cozy (this is the cozy I have: https://www.amazon.com/Big-Sky-International-Insulite-Metallic/dp/B00Y4TZ0UI). You can buy all the bulk dried and freeze-dried ingredients on Amazon.

I am also planning on experimenting with prepared Paleo backpacking meals: https://paleomealstogo.com/. They are expensive, though!

My goto is going to be nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and dried coconut milk for cereal in the morning, packaged individually in quart size ziplock with cold filtered water added in the field, then a meal of freeze-dried meat and veggies in the evening. I will also heavily lean on Lara bars, homemade or store bought depending on my level of motivation.

When I am backpacking, I rely heavily on olive oil to boost calories. I carry a separate squeezable container of olive oil and add it to everything I eat. There is nothing that gives you a bigger punch of calories for the weight than olive oil.

Sparkling water is compliant. You may see "Natural Flavors" or "Citric Acid" on some of them and those are okay. I will also drink Spindrift which is sparkling water with a bit of unsweetened, no sugar added, juice.

If you're talking about these no way.

The other point with sparkling water is to not use it as a swap for diet coke or any other less-than-ideal beverage habits.

Of course... there are only so many times you can brush your teeth a day!

I had to ditch my Orbitz habit, and I'm not chewing mint leaves. The only thing I found on the Whole30 blog post about this that works like gum is Wow Drops. My team (we are all doing Whole30) are using the same bottle... once you get used to it, it totally works just like peppermint gum.

u/TankSpank · 2 pointsr/whole30

I have been using this one for the last 3 years and it's taken some abuse (2x weekly use, falling out of the back of my car) and still going strong. I'm generally pretty happy with Hamilton Beach appliances for the price.

You don't even need an instant pot... Any stock pot works great.

We've cooked a lot of the Nom Nom Paleo recipes and have loved every single one of them, so I'd highly suggest her book.

"Add to list" (or maybe not too late to get on Xmas wishlist....)
