I bought this glass scale back in 2010 and it's still going strong! It's digital, goes up to 400 pounds and is pretty darn accurate. So glad Amazon remembers purchase history 😃

I stumbeled upon my the Contigo Autoseal Water Bottle on clearance at Target one day and now have 4 of them, one for work desk, work car, personal car and home. It's my go to spill proof water bottle. The thing that makes it amazing for me is that you don't need an extra hand to open it or coordination to close it as I'm often driving, but would be perfect while trying to wrangle kids.. It just has a button you push while you're drinking. There is an optional flip lid as well. Only down side is it's not see through so hard to measure how much you've drank.

I was just listing a few of the foods that are my 100% no gos. Calamari and oysters were a few others i forgot which I don’t touch at all, but everyone has a different experience with which foods they tolerate.

I’m about to have some bloodwork done in the next 2 weeks so i’ll know if i have any vitamins deficiencies soon enough. My protein shake is where i get most of my vitamins and combined with a healthy diet i only expect an iron deficiency.

I’ve never weighed over 200 since the surgery but i do notice that during the winter i will gain 10lbs or so due to more inactivity and cold weather but it comes right back off in spring when i start hiking and swimming more. Uhh social life is a bit interesting because you have to know your limits and do not cave to peer pressure. With GBP you are more prone to blackouts because a large amount of alcohol hits you at once and you’re a bit gone after that. I had 2 really stupid nights after i turned 21 and I wasn’t very aware of how much was too much, and i figured out shots are an absolute no. To be on the safe side i never have more than 1 per night and 2 if I’m out celebrating but not driving. Make sure you avoid cigarettes aswell. That road leads to stomach ulcers and alot of pain. Yes i was warned about it before hand but thats growing up and having to learn the hard way sometimes lol.

This seems interesting, especially if you like smart tech.

If you are doing things like sneaking in cupcakes, you are likely breaking ketosis and then going through the awfulness of entering ketosis over and over again.

My biggest advice is to not break the diet at all and to drink alot more water. I was drinking over 100 ounces of water to day. Most of the symptoms (starving, exhaustion, headaches, pale color, etc) all come from being dehydrated. During ketosis, your body needs extra water to help flush out the byproducts of the protein. Without drinking enough water, you will feel very sick. My surgeon/nutrionist stated that I should have between 3-5 protein shakes per day and there was a hard minimum of 3 shakes. After day 3, I was no longer hungry and had no symptoms at all. I craved things, but it was obvious to me that it was head hunger and not physical hunger.

PS: If you are having a hard time keeping the protein shakes down, then you might consider mixing the powder with either water or a lactose free milk (unsweetened almond milk was my favorite). It is not uncommon to become temporarily lactose intolerant when going into ketosis (and after surgery). If you are already lactose free, then try a different brand that uses whey protein isolates like Oh Yeah by ISS (http://www.amazon.com/YEAH-CHOCOLATE-MILKSHAKE--2-4-Lbs/dp/B004GWA2H4/ref=sr_1_14_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1462540119&sr=8-14&keywords=oh+yeah+iss) I really like the choclate milkshake flavored ones. The strawberries and cream/cookies and cream become sickeningly sweet after a while.

You will want variety in your shakes as well. Are you allowed to blend in half of a small fruit with your shakes? (my nutritionist allowed shake in water with 1/2 fruit or shake in milk without fruit).

This is the hard part of surgery in my opinion.

I'd definitely recommend talking to your surgeon for specifics. Mine told me that I could use a binder to help keep everything stable while I healed as soon as I was comfortable putting it on, and let me tell you, it helped a TON! I'm sort of a klutz anyway, so I'd easily move wrong and tweak and cause some major uncomfortable feelings in my gut as the incisions have healed.

As far as keeping skin from being saggy, they're not really that helpful. It's mostly about genetics and age from what I've been told. Drink lots of water, take your recommended vitamins, use lotions and creams that are specific to heavy moisturizing - I'm currently using Cerave Stretch Mark Cream and strength training as soon as your surgeon says its okay.

My surgeon told me NOT to wear a corset when working out once I hit that 8 week mark, because it isn't good for your abdominal muscles overall - they don't have to engage as much as they need to since the corset is doing all of the work for them.

It sounds like you're still on liquids/mush? Do you like Miso soup?
Soybeans are packed with protein. Get some Hondashi and miso paste... add tofu if you like it.. and then whatever other additions you like (soy sauce, black vinegar whatevs) protein packed and soup-er (I COULDN'T STOP MYSELF) delicious!
When you can eat eat, snack on edamame!

First and foremost, you have to make sure you are getting enough fluids. My doctor said 64 oz., including protein drinks/soups is the minimum. Dehydration is a real thing with a VSG. I found this protein chicken soup to be very good: [Unjury] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KC3YF4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Also, here's a recipe for [bone broth] (https://www.rewireme.com/wellness/bone-broth-weight-loss/). It really does get better.

I've been using a web belt like this. The one I bought was from Duluth Trading, but they don't seem to carry it anymore. This is the same thing though.

When the "tail" gets too long, I just trim a couple of inches off and keep going. I've had it for years because it's "metal detector friendly" (no metal). I didn't have to try and take it off to go through courthouse or airport security.

  • A mission low carb / carb balance tortilla with some kind of meat whether it's a piece of microwaved sausage or some leftover chicken breast. Easy, fast, to-go, no mess.

  • Lots of canned fish: smoked trout (Bumblebee and Coles) / smoked salmon (Polar, Coles, Bumblebee) / Sardines (King Oscar brisling) (the trout and salmon are not as stinky as sardines when other people are a consideration)

  • Some kind of sliced meat and a string cheese stick. I wrap the cheese with the meat and munch away.

  • Homemade beef/salmon jerky. Surprisingly easy to make with a cheap dehydrator and a hell of a lot cheaper than buying it.

  • Bar Harbor Clam Chowder. Dump into bowl, microwave for 3 minutes, add pepper. Super high in protein (12g / serving, can is 2.5 servings) for a canned soup.

  • Edited to add: Veggies and hummus. I wasn't a fan of hummus until after surgery. Not really high in protein, but it has some and it's good nutrition, quick, easy.

Thank you. It's been quite a long road, but I did my research and bought the tools that got me through it.

It's just a lifestyle now.

I had one of those. I used to average my various weights that it gave from stepping on and back off.

I highly recommend this scale from amazon. Only $16.80, and free one day shipping from prime. It is super precise (though I find it tells me I'm about 1.5lbs heavier than the doctor's scale, but consistently).

Here are some bariatric gummy vitamns.

I've been taking these since my surgery. Had my 3 month blood test about a month ago and all my levels were great.
