Somethin to talk about! Bonnie Raitt is cool :-). Congrats on the new decade, ladies, I hope to move down some day LOL. Oh, it has been a GOOD day! No, I never got hungry. BUT, at my normal meal time, I wasn't UNhungry-- I managed to hit the protein AND my calories LOL. That hasn't happened for a while now. It tasted real good but I didn't "enjoy" eating-- but progress is progress.
9 more NSVs and I get my new sheets! AND, someone sent me a link to the most beautiful single cup loose leaf tea mugs on amazon, and I was looking at all of them. Showed it to hubby and he immediately said Well, have you ordered it yet? WOOHOO, a surprise thing of beauty is entering my life! Here it is, for those interested : [KATI Tea Mug] (https://smile.amazon.com/Tea-Ceramic-Brewing-Infuser-Steeping/dp/B07B8XDDJN/ref=pd_day0_hl_79_1/135-1889682-2087726?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07B8XDDJN&pd_rd_r=c5dba0f4-573c-11e9-9cc9-7768f6408781&pd_rd_w=w5ESN&pd_rd_wg=UN3D5&pf_rd_p=ad07871c-e646-4161-82c7-5ed0d4c85b07&pf_rd_r=6XNMD807W04V3XRKV92R&psc=1&refRID=6XNMD807W04V3XRKV92R)
I can't wait until the 11th when it gets here! Oh, it has been an amazing day all around :-).
What did I learn LATER that I wish I had known when I started? Hmm. Now that's a toughie. Probably that upping the protein would help deal with telogen effluvium.
I had experienced it before when I had a serious illness, and had known it could happen with sudden weight loss, but none of the resources I checked mentioned the protein being a factor.
Fortunately I upped my protein shortly after it began for different reasons-- after dealing with bald patches in the past, I was glad not to have to deal with them again LOL.
I just know tomorrow is going to be a great day-- my oldest son is taking me out for lunch to our fave chinese food restaurant! I'll be eating outside my window, but oh well! They make wonderful chicken veggie soup, in a clear broth, so all good there and room in the net carbs for 1 crab puff with 13 carbs to spare LOL. I might even blow all the carbs on the crab puffs, and just eat meat for dinner :-).
Have a wonderful day, everyone and KCKO!
Morning, ladies! This is a late (for me) update because [your favorite denotation of God/The Universe/Fate] has chosen to make up for years upon years of various physical and emotional distress ALL AT ONCE. I'll spare you the gratuitous details, but Brisket Magic Sausage Combo Breakfast Special is my new favorite thing(!!!). I'm scared that I'm not the only one catching feelings here. The total ease with which we spoke about this situation, when he called last night, made me feel some kinda way that wasn't scared at all. We're both waiting for the other one to get over these butterflies and bounce, and it's the most intense round of Emotional Chicken I've ever played.
Yesterday was a nicely busy day at the office, I was smiling all morning at your sweet 2-22 salutations <3 and I wasn't overly hungry, so lunch was (not 5) Applegate organic hot dogs. I treated myself to a grass-fed ribeye with the rest of my chicken wings for dinner, and saved eggs + burger for today's lunch. There was plenty of unpleasantness at home, but (not for the first time) JK Rowling saved me from the cohabitant, and we watched Crimes of Grindelwald. I need to watch it again in silence, but it was definitely fun the first time around, too, and I effing love Eddie Redmayne.
Y'all know what I'm ready to leave behind in February! I'm also going to try and leave behind some superfluous possessions, and cull my collection of sentimental items and household extras. After some careful price shopping and consideration, I ordered myself some nice new cotton sheets and a knit blanket (I shall yet win this battle with night sweats, dammit!) and this new zoomie rug to replace the one my baby bunnies have destroyed. I'm going to leave behind the belief that I don't deserve a pretty home, just because someone else kept messing it up!
I've been up since 5 this morning, stocking 22's Running Stuff Store, and I'm ready to put in a hard day at the boutique after the greatest morning break ever. This afternoon, I'll go visit my adopted big brother, do laundry at his house, and we'll definitely catch each other up on our dating lives (I HAVE A DATING LIFE OMG), probably over some takeout barbeque. Life is so damn good.
Enjoy your weekend, do something nice for yourself today, and KCKO like it counts!
Good Morning Beautiful Bombshells!!!!
Wow! This thread has blown up! It was the first thing I saw when I logged into Reddit today. I actually do need to work today to get my assignment for this week finished; however wanted to pop in and I'll read throughout the day too :)
Dinner last night was awesome! DH brined the thick pork loin chops in pickle juice (that was a first and it was so damned good!) for about 2 hours and then sprinkled on some Penzeys Pork Chop Seasoning before grilling to perfection. The pickle juice flavor was subtle but they were oh so juicy. We wound up sharing because the chops were so big. I tossed some brussels sprouts with olive oil, pink himalayan salt & pepper, and bacon ends & pieces then roasted in the convection oven until perfectly done. Drool... For dessert, we adored the Lemon SmartCakes (where have you been all my life?) with a little dollop of whipped cream and a bite of Lily's Chocolate. We enjoyed way too much wine and great conversation. We didn't turn on the tv once during the night. It was as close to a perfect evening as could be. One of the best things? We have leftovers for tonight!
DH got me a Tiffany style lamp that I've been wanting for the longest time and a large Bento Bag for my knitting that I've been eyeing from Fringe Supply. I gave him a list of things at Christmas time to select from and so he pulled from that list. Smart man! He loved all his grill stuff and immediately put the light on the grill. He said it was freaking awesome and helped so much :)
After all that, I was down another pound on the scale this morning. However, it's not weigh in day. Fingers crossed that it sticks :) I hope everyone has a fantastic start to their weekend and KCKO!
It’s not plastic surgery but have you heard of Nova Threads? Or PDO Threads? They are small threads that are injected in the skin fascia under the surface of the skin and they have small barbs in the that once placed under the skin tissue you smooth back the tissue to get the tightness you’re looking for and the bars connect with the cologne matrix to smooth out wrinkles and create better definition of skin. The procedure is less than an hour and you’re in and out and can go back to work. There can be some slight swelling on some folks, none for others. The Dr I worked with administered these with great results!
Edit: I should also include that vitamin C plays a HUGE role in stimulating collagen in your skin which is the foundation of the matrix that helps keep skin supple and firm looking. If you are in an area where you can go get a high dose vitamin C IV (called a Myers Cocktail) those would be beneficial to get maybe every other week to help give your body the nutrients it needs for skin elasticity and smoothing out lines and wrinkles which can suddenly show up from weight loss. OR oral vitamin C can be taken regularly also... 3,000-5,000mg taken in divided doses throughout the day work well too! (This is the equivalent of 3-5 emergen C packets). Don’t take them all at once or it’ll give you diarrhea. If you can buy buffered Vitamin C through a naturopathic physician those products are best.
Designs for Health is an amazing brand too that is available on Amazon at the same price you’d get in a drs office. And since this is buffered it is going to be easier on your gut (won’t give you diarrhea). 1teaspoon is 2,000 mg so only 1t morning and evening would be good. (PS. I have zero affiliation with DFH-I just really really love their products and sold the crap out of them when I worked with the NMD).
Designs for Health Buffered Vitamin C Powder 2000mg - High Dose Vitamin C with Alkalizing Minerals (80 Servings / 240g) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0011024SE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_CYgYDbPKBZHHV
Good morning,
Its Friday and today is especially good for TWO reasons.
I finished my book reading August goal! It was a pretty short book, it was a reprint of the Hiroshima article but it was a powerful read. If anyone is interested, it has my highest recommendation. A disturbing read, informative, and unlike anything Ive known prior about this historic tragedy.
My next book for September is all ready to go. I am reading Tripping over the Truth which explores cancer as a metablic theory. I like sciency things and learning and I find the information around this theory highly fascinating :)
Helping one of my friends get started on keto, with the approach of giving her resources and answering specific questions only. Been burnt too many times otherwise :P
My morning goal is to post the haus-keeping before I leave work, so keep an eye out for that!
Happy Friday all <3
I think I know the song!! Haha. "Let's Give Em Something to Talk About" how about looooooooOOOOooooove! I don't know who sings it though. Some country lady?
I didn't work out again last night. I had an inner battle, and a chocolate keto mug cake won (IT WAS SO GOOD) and exercising did not. I feel shitty from my period, but I know that's not a good excuse. But it is what it is! I plan to do it tonight instead.
This weekend should be great. We're going to a friend's house for grilling out tomorrow afternoon, and Sunday is wide open and free. Today is the first day I didn't wear a coat to work in the morning, so spring really feels like it's here! I can't wait to do all the spring and summer outdoor activities, like hiking and going to the Ren Faire. I'm ready for it (BOOM BOOM BOOM).
I need B to get out of the house so I can surprise him by painting the kitchen and bathroom cabinets! I found some great backsplash tiles and a really highly rated all-inclusive painting kit on Amazon specifically for cabinets, and I am pumped. All the reviews say you can get the entire thing done in a weekend, which is perfect because that's how long B will always be gone. We've been wanting to paint them the entire year we've lived here, but it's seemed like such a hassle. Luckily, this seems like it takes most of the hassle out. I'm pumped. B has CP and arthritis and a few other medical conditions that makes it harder for him to do stuff like that. It's been in my cart on Amazon for months and now finally B's going to be out of the house so I can do it!! Wheeee! I think he'll be really excited about it.
Okay I'm out. Love you guys!! Hope you have an awesome weekend!!! <3
Good morning ladies!
Where to start today...well, in April I decided that my first goal would be to fit into this beautiful blue flowery dress for my friend's wedding, which is on Sunday. It is size 12 from J Crew with absolutely zero stretch or give. (Here's a pic if you follow me on Instagram.) I could only zip it half way and the top had about 2 inches left. (I was roughly a size 16, and prob pushing that tbh, when I started my keto/OMADing in February.)
This morning, for the hell of it, I tried it on... and I zipped it up on my own! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! (Today is my birthday.)
eeeeeeeeeeeee!
I couldn't ask to feel better on my birthday. We threw a big backyard party for my birthday yesterday, with so many friends and family there. I really appreciate that, especially after having several "sad" birthdays when our daughter was a baby and we didn't have the mental capacity to throw parties. Yesterday morning I woke up at 7am and was like "I'm going running!". I haven't had that kind of energy in the morning in years and years and it made me feel like "me" again. I biked down to the high school track and did 100m sprints for 20 minutes. After I got back, my daughter wanted to go running, so we ended up run/walking through the neighborhood for almost an hour. It was way more running than I bargained for, but it felt so awesome to have the energy to keep up with her. That's the energy I was really missing last fall and winter, and it's one of those things that makes me feel like "me." I love being an athletic person who can now run for an hour and a half on a dime like that.
I owe y'all a long post on all the science I've learned, but I wanna make a quick note that Delay Don't Deny is 100% worth a read. It's written by a laywoman and is very accessible. I read it in one sitting, and felt like it was like if your best girlfriend who's knowledgeable about keto and IF sat you down and told you the honest truth. Great read. Happy to mail my copy to anyone (in the US) :)
There are a LOT of recipes and suggestions online. The trick for me was to play with them and kind of take and leave the suggestions for my own personal preference. I’ve only been making chaffles for a month-ish now, but here are my suggestions:
1.) there are a TON of recipes online, both here on reddit and with a basic Google search. I personally found the simplest to start with and then adjusted to my preferences. Don’t get overwhelmed, but really consider trying one - and don’t give up if they don’t meet the hype the first time you try them!! They didn’t for me, but since I’ve started playing with different additions I have found these to be an amazing sub for breads and buns.
2.) consider getting the Dash mini waffle maker - (http://Dash mini Waffle maker Winter Sky https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z8T3NKK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_l4kUDb2TFXWVA) (sorry about formatting, not able to fix it on mobile for some reason). It really made a difference in my chaffle shape, and I find one of these is great for using as half of a sandwich bun - we’ve used two for burgers, and they work really nicely as a bun substitute. I have a regular size waffle maker, and the chaffles don’t fit together as nicely unless you keep them in one half of the pan, and even then you’re probably using more batter than you actually need with a half-moon shape that isn’t as good for sandwich type chaffles as with the mini maker. If you can’t find the mini one on Amazon (they seem to be in short supply), I saw some at my local Kohl’s for ~$10. It’s a steal and I have used it far more than the regular sized. If I had to guess I’d say it’s about 3-4” diameter, and it is really perfect.
3.) as above, I have adjusted my recipe to my tastes. I don’t like my chaffles to have an egg-y flavor - I’ve figured this out by using EggBeaters instead, and adding some almond flour and flaxseed. It doesn’t take much to make what I feel is a dramatic difference in taste, and the net carbs in my personal recipe, which I’ve tweaked for taste over time, is less than 2g carbs per chaffle.
Chaffles are a staple in our keto house - they’re perfect and worth the effort of trying. You can do a ton - sweet, savory, endless possibilities.
Good luck!!
It's a good one to try and it's in the British sampler so it's part and parcel for the rest which are great.
For making the tea, I really love my [Tea Forte])https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074R282H7) mug. I like their tea as well (the Single Steeps are great and convenient, but also spendy per tea). But this cup/infuser combo is really easy to use and keep clean. There are others out there but I'm sharing this because the style is nice. It's double-walled, so make sure if you get one like this it's either got a handle or is double-walled or your hand will, ya know, burn. :)
For a great iced tea, I like mango black tea. It works up beautifully.
So I am very happy to have the scale moving downward just more, and even better my pants are super loose ! Just another few weeks or so I should be out of the size 20 somethings and into the size 18 work pants. My 18 jeans fit fine, but the work pants are just too tight in the waist and lower belly.
Speaking of lower belly, I have decided to up my foundation garment game. First, I want to reduce how much my mother's apron hangs down, to get it more in line with where it should be, and to improve my posture. I bought a postpartum waist support garment, which is much more approachable for me than any of the other garments I saw. I don't want to have to undo the crotch every time I go to the bathroom, which is a lot!
Also, the bulge there is keeping me from wearing a lot of newer clothes that fit otherwise.
Recent clothes purchases. I learned that the style of jacket that looks best on me is called a topper jacket, I just bought this one. I have a few things to wear with it, mainly pants and simple shirts. But I think it will look great with my new blue sheath dress from Amazon (only $13!). I also bought a black wrap dress from the same company for $19.
Food was good, we had salmon and pork belly with a vegetable saute and stuffed jalapeno poppers. Unfortunately, my pepper tolerance is greatly reduced right now, so I could only enjoy one. I'll have another tonight.
Lunch is yogurt chicken and the last of the kohlrabi linguine and cucumbers. Dinner will be ribs and chicken thighs with cheesy cauliflower "grits".
Physically, I still have lots of soreness in my ribs from laying on the MRI table. It takes me a few days to get over that. I got my shingles vaccine first dose and will be getting the second in late summer.
KCKO! ♥ Kitten tax 1 and kitten tax 2. Bones has ear tufts.
This week has been completely out of routine doing storm cleanup. Yesterday was starting to get back to normal, but yall physical labor is exhausting. Everything hurts down to my fingernails. I made chili and it was delicious. Cobbled together what I had and three or four different recipes to make it mine. Even had an epiphany that I didn't need to go to the store for a freaking can of tomatoes...I had tomatoes on hand and could make my own fresh in the food processor. How you like me now, <insert TV chef name here >.
But the highlight was the corn bread . It came out like corn bread pound cake almost - in a great way. It smelled so damn good in the oven and the taste was the stuff bakery dreams are made of. I couldn't find my 9" cast iron so loaded up my 6". Had to throw some foil on top so it didn't over brown but it just turned out crispy on the edges so yay. The key was the corn flavored extract. This stuff isn't cheap but it really gives it that authentic smell and flavor. I can't wait to try Christmas tamales now. I used this recipe. Added 3/4c shredded cheese just because and I meant to add a jalapeño but put them all in the chili instead. Oops. I used this corn extract. Yes, pricey but at 6 drops a use it is basically a lifetime supply. :D
Have a great week. Can't wait to see what you ladies have up your sleeves for Halloween the next few days.
Dresses! Because it's fucking hot and super comfortable. I have 3 so far but this one is my favorite! It's a 2x and getting bigger on me :D Which means eventually I will have to invest in a sewing machine lol
ooo that looks like a nice moisturizer. I've just tried this one and love it. Healed some dry patches in just a couple days. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BB3FK19/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
