No problem, if you want to go the "Mixer" route, and only need 2 microphones...I'd recommend this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-Q802USB-BEHRINGER-XENYX/dp/B008O517IC/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1501093834&sr=1-3&keywords=usb+mixer

Remember, You'll need to buy XLR microphones and a couple XLR cables for the microphones as well. You're looking at about 20 bucks per microphone and depending on the length of the cable, 5-15 bucks each for those as well. Microphone stands are also something you'd want unless you buy XLR body microphones but those are pretty pricey. Decent to good stands range from 15-25 bucks depending on shipping.

The nice thing about the XLR route is that in the long run, you can mix match and replace equipment on an individual level. XLR microphones can sound just as good as high quality USB microphones and are much cheaper (when only buying the mic). The Mixer itself gives you more control over your sound too.

If you want more specific recommendations on the other pieces of equipment just let me know. Generally I just go with what's rated well and priced right at Amazon, but I got 3/4 of my mic stands from monoprice.

The one I use is:
https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-1204USB-BEHRINGER-XENYX/dp/B00871VO5Y/ref=sr_1_9?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1501093834&sr=1-9&keywords=usb+mixer

I got lucky like I said and was able to grab an open box one for 67 bucks instead of 150.

Feel free to ask any questions, I've been dealing with my setup for about 6-9 months so far.

You will save almost 20 bucks and it's plug and play USB! I've had it for a couple years now and it's still pretty good and it's better than the Blu Yeti Mic in my opinion!

I use wireless headphones (Bluetooth). I use this guy for transmitting https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Wireless-Headphones/dp/B01N5KKUR0/

At that point any headset that supports AptX will do best because of the low latency. Works fantastic with my Plantronics Bluetooth Headset (which supports the AptX codec). I also have an Avantree brand receiver which lets me plug in any wired headset and I often use that with a regular set of earbuds that I own.

As others have said, I have a separate mic to pickup my voice. There are a gajillion options out there depending on your needs. But getting something on a mic stand on your desk will give you the best results :).

Editing the sound can help a great deal.

Here's my first video. The sound was originally even worse than that, then another team member tried to clean it up a bit, which make it a lot quieter but clearer.

I then used Audacity's noise reduction in my second video to sample the background noise and massively reduce it before putting it in the video. This is a massive improvement on the clarity of the voice at least.

I used a cheap omnidirectional mic which looks like I should be singing karaoke with it, rather than recording videos.

I love my Audio Technica AT2020, they do have a USB version so you can go right into your PC http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AT2020USB-PLUS-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B00B5ZX9FM/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1449799164&sr=1-2&keywords=at2020

I'm lucky enough to have a nice little sound mixer so I use the XLR version, but it's a great price and works very well.

u/newmilwaukee · 1 pointr/youtubegaming

That's one thing I didnt mention. It's just my basement and I wont be glueing egg cartons to any of the walls :P There's plenty of rooms I can test out the acoustics in, but not something I'll base my decision on when choosing the mic.

I love the potential upgrading, thnx for the heads up on that. but on second thought, separate interface? pre-amp? just my lack of knowledge in this field is pushing me to go with the AT2020USB and get a pop filter separate. Also, [its 41% off!] (http://www.amazon.ca/Audio-Technica-AT2020USBPLUS-Cardioid-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B00B5ZX9FM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1449938668&sr=8-2&keywords=AT2020) that seems like a good deal.

The filter doesnt look like itll attach to the mic or stand anywhere. could be wrong tho. Do i have to anchor the filter on something other than the mic setup?

I may take you up on that, I ALWAYS run into problems/questions. If you know anything about lighting, thats where I'm at now (purchasing a green scree soon) but atm, I have this lamp that I shine in my face, which is decent/better on camera, but burns my peepers! any tips on illuminating my face without going blind?

EDIT: also, there sometimes backround noise. Mostly just some humming from machines. That should be easily fixed right?

My go-to suggestion for a good beginner mic is the ATR2100. It's a great dynamic mic that works on both USB and XLR. That way to upgrade to an XLR setup later you can use the same mic for a while. If you've got $100 I would get this mic, a pop filter, and a good boom arm stand. The positioning of the microphone is (in a way) as important as the microphone for doing YouTube videos. If you can, get one with a shock mount or buy a shock mount as well.

I googled a bit myself and I think I'll start with a snowball ICE. They are only Cardioid wich is great for gaming videos anyway. Also the price feels good for a guy like me who only does this for fun and his very large subscriber count of 11.

My work had a blue yeti I brought home and frankly this thing picks up so much I would need a fully insulated room to get decent sound out of it.

u/dialpixel · 3 pointsr/youtubegaming

If you really need good quality audio for that price point, I would suggest you look into something that has a detachable cable. The audio technica ATH_M40x headphones are a great option. Then you can add on a Modmic that attaches to the headphones or even get a Blue snowball standalone microphone.

Well I have a custom Dell Inspiron 15 that basically has stuff in it to run games pretty well, atleast the games I normally play.

I also have an Xbox One (which I tend to stream from more than my PC)

Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M
Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60 GHz
7.88 GB Ram

And then I have this Turtle Beach Headset - https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Gaming-Headset-Playstation/dp/B00ZC3S818/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482631060&sr=8-1&keywords=Turtle+Beach+PC

If you want get the OBS software because it makes this mic sound great!

u/RevaniteAnime · 2 pointsr/youtubegaming

No idea how good it is, but this is within budget and claims to do what you want: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I0QZMPE/ref=emc_b_5_t

But, read the reviews and see if it's still acceptable for you... (I didn't bother reading the reviews)

usb desktop mic
This is the first mic I bought and used for streaming. Viewers said it sounded just like my blue yeti microphone.
