To expand on what the other commenter has said, both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift have had a fairly significant price drop over the last couple of months.
The Vive now sits at a much more reasonable price of $599usd while the Oculus Rift sits at $399 although it's strongly recommended that you purchase a 3rd camera sensor for $60 with it to improve the tracking potential. Both come with tracked controller solutions, the Vive with it's wand style and the Rift with Touch.

Personally, I feel that the Vive is a better buy, considering several factors so I'm a bit biased.
-The Rift needs a 3rd sensor which lessens the price gap a fair amount, and takes up a whopping 4 USB 3.0 ports while the Vive uses only a single USB 2.0 port because of the Lighthouse tracking versus the Rift's camera based solution
-They both work for room-scale games, but the Vive is more purpose built for it because of the way tracking works
-This is pretty subjective but I prefer the Vive's display and optics. Neither are objectively better but I like the Vive's slightly larger field of view compared to the Rift's slightly better readability with text
-Vive is much better if you have glasses.
-This is purely subjective, but the Vive has nothing to do with Facebook. To me that's a major plus, but you might not care as much.

As much as I adore my Vive, the Rift has several advantages too
-First, it's outright cheaper, regardless of having to buy the 3rd sensor
-The controllers feel more natural in the hand when you're playing games where you have hands instead of tools (Vive is better if you're playing a shooter for example as the controllers feel like you're holding something like that)
-The Rift has a built in pair of headphones which are actually quite good, and light weight. I didn't think this was a huge deal at first since I have good headphones already, but not having to worry about that extra cable dangling from your head is a nice luxury to have
-The Rift's stock head strap is much nicer, and general ergonomics are better. The Vive has an upgraded Deluxe Audio Strap that you can buy now, but it's a hundred bucks.
-Access to a bunch of free Oculus funded games through Home. The Vive can play these too, but you have to use a middleware program called ReVive for it to work.

To finish off this wall of text, some minimum recommended PC spec's:
-At least an i5 from the 4000 series of chips (IE i5 4590 is what Oculus used to recommend as a minimum) or 3000 series if you can overclock (I have an OC'd i7 3770k at 4.6 ghz and it's working great) EDIT: Also a Ryzen r5 1500 or better would work. Gotta rep team Red!
-Standard gaming amount of RAM, 8-16GB
-Modern mid-range graphics card like an RX 480/580, or a GTX 1060 6GB, or a higher end older card like a GTX 970 or R9 380x (this would be cutting it close)
I wouldn't recommend using anything older than that, any kind of stutter can and will make you ill. Trust me, sim sickness is no fun haha
If you've got any other question feel free to ask!
You actually have a lot of options when it comes to price.
If you want to just get started then I would suggest trying out the [D&D 5th Edition Starter Set] (https://www.amazon.com/Dungeons-Dragons-Starter-Set-Roleplaying/dp/0786965592/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484667056&sr=8-1&keywords=d%26d+5e+starter+set) for ~$17 on Amazon. I haven't used it before, but I've heard very good things about it. The Starter Set has everything you need to run a short game for 4-6 players including a shortened rule book, pre-written adventure, and character sheets.
If you want to dive right into the full game then you can pick up the [5th Edition Player's Handbook] (https://www.amazon.com/Players-Handbook-Dungeons-Dragons-Wizards/dp/0786965606/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484667507&sr=8-1&keywords=player%27s+handbook) for ~$30 on Amazon which has all the rules and instructions necessary to make a character and run a game of D&D. If you decide that you will be the one running the game the [Monster Manual] (https://www.amazon.com/Monster-Manual-Core-Rulebook-Wizards/dp/0786965614/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484667684&sr=8-1&keywords=monster+manual) and [Dungeon Master's Guide] (https://www.amazon.com/Dungeon-Masters-Guide-Core-Rulebook/dp/0786965622/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484667724&sr=8-1&keywords=dungeon+masters+guide) will be helpful, but still optional.
You also have the option of finding an already existing group and joining with them. One of the best ways to learn D&D is to have a patient veteran take you through everything you need to know step-by-step. If you do not personally know anyone who plays then you could always try checking local game stores and hobby shops to see if there are any games. You can also check r/lfg to find games near you or online. Obviously if the group already has the rulebooks then the cost is potentially free.
Finally if you have anymore questions about the game you could check the D&D 5th Edition subreddit r/dndnext or the non edition specific r/DnD.
It seems that you are more on top of the new shows than me, but I think your last line sort of nails it. No one expects a lot of these shows to be life-changing. They are just for fun. What is different is that the aesthetic medium. A lot of Marvel and DC comics are pretty baseless (and the film versions even more) but the fanboy culture surrounding that seems to get a pass in the US (although I have sense some resistance to that lately).
If you really want to dig into this though, there are a number of scholars that have been thinking about the 'Why?' question concerning manga. Azuma Hiroki is the big name here, and has some interesting things to say (though it can be a bit cerebral). Here is another article by Stevie Suan that discusses Manga and Anime as well.
EDIT:
Why am I getting downvoted?
> Even the townhall, while I'm glad it happened, was staged like it was a WWE event.
Hahaha I read a book about that in college. Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle. Hahaha ^^oh ^^no
The United States has something called the Emergency Alert System.
The TL;DR is that all radio and television broadcasting stations are required to have equipment that can listen for those Emergency Alert sounds. Those sounds are actually digital data that carries information about what alert is going out and what counties the alert is for. If the equipment hears an alert for the county it is in or the county that it serves, it will automatically hijack the radio or television broadcast and relay the emergency message.
Us citizens can buy consumer versions of this equipment as well, they are advertised as S.A.M.E Weather Radios (Specific Area Message Encoding).
Here is a very popular one for $30
Here's a video showing it in action
Because of how large the United States is, it is recommended for US citizens to own one of these, so that they can automatically receive any emergency messages for their specific area.
Looks like $45 USD for the helmet, the sword could run you from $10 to $150, depending on how realistic you want it to be, and if it is metal or not. The shirt could just be a white sheet sewn into a that shape, kinda like a burlap sack. For the bible, you can probably get one for free from your local AA meetings, or maybe a motel nightstand. I would say total around $80 bucks if you want a sword that's not literally a children's toy, and if you can put in a bit of the effort yourself for the shirt.

Ready to fly, but if you want first person view you're gonna have to pick up a camera, transmitter, goggles, and receiver. Unfortunately I'm not actually into drones yet, this is just one find Ive got from my hunt for my first drone last week.
Here's the one I think I'm gonna get. Includes read to fly drone, remote control, camera, and carry bag, so all you need is goggles. Tons of info and review videos on the page. Looks like the only thing to "fix" is that the included software isn't excellent, but it's operable.
IMPORTANT: As of 01/01/2016, all drones between 0.5 and 50 lbs must be registered with the FAA! This can be done easily online and requires a small fee of something like $5.
It's one of my favourite films because IMO it captures the hacking mindset. It doesn't matter if it's technically accurate, spiritually they are in COMPLETELY the right place, it came out when I was only 3 years old so I saw it much later (about 12-13) when I had already gotten into hacking and computers but I felt instantly connected. Wargames was similar but I think hackers is a step above. I haven't really found similar films since then but there are some good books ('Dear Hacker' is one of my favourite because it has a huge amount of perspective)
Portugal has passionfruit Sumol which is pretty top notch delicious, and you could probably find it if you've got a Portuguese market near you, which basically no one does.
[It's like you guys aren't even trying to save money] (https://www.amazon.com/Non-Skid-Cabinet-Shelves-Non-Slip-12-Inch/dp/B00IXYIWC8/ref=sr_1_10?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1485932223&sr=1-10&keywords=shelf+liner)
My first thought as well, I get the impression that this is probably a "cute" parody of Bill and Ted.
EDIT: Looks like it's from this

To be clear, it's a scripted performance. WNUF isn't a real television station, the dialogue is too snappy to be natural, and no news programme ever shoots field interviews with a two-camera setup like that.
WNUF Halloween Special, DVD.
the nozzle isnt in the water, it connects to your water line not the bowl water. and every bidet ive used/ seen has the auto retracting nozzle so its never exposed unless its on. best 25 bucks you could ever spend right here
They sell the DVD on Amazon, definitely worth getting

well it depends what you're after. if you wanna make an app anyone can enable and enjoy on their own devices, you make a skill like so. if you wanna make a meme, you do as you suggested and must learn the power of theater.
I use Das Keyboard 4 Ultimate Soft and I love it.
I admit you have a point, but rather than entertain my fallibility, here's a convoluted explanation of why I'm still technically correct:
"2001: A Space Odyssey" indeed only used the first section of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (called "Einleitung, oder Sonnenaufgang"). However, if you look on the LP containing the soundtrack (pardon the small image), the song is referred to as "Also Sprach Zarathustra". Furthermore, if you look on the LP from the Portsmouth Sinfonia (pardon the even worse smaller image) you can also barely make out that they called it "Also Sprach Zarathustra".
Pedantry aside though, I just wanted to convey was that this music wasn't composed for "2001: A Space Odyssey" like many people think, but instead comes from an independent work that well predates the film.
It's cheap and easy to install and the guy who converted me to the way of the bidet recommended it to me.
