I had a Roku plugged in to the ATEM directly. Wouldn’t display anything. Hook it up directly to a TV and it worked fine. Put the Roku through the Splitter and it magically works. Same thing with the Apple TV and the passive HDMI to DVI cable to the TV. It’s stripping the HDCP for certain.

I ran across this last night when researching alternatives to the Roku remote as I feel it falls short in a lot of areas. Check out the Sideclick for Roku. Snaps onto your existing remote and has eight programmable buttons. So if you're looking to lessen the amount of remotes you have to deal with it's great. Not sure it addresses the issues you mention above, but wanted to throw it out there as an option to "upgrade" your existing Roku remote.

In regards to your last bullet point, I have experienced this off and on. It seems to happen more when I'm scrubbing thru live programming as opposed to DVR content. I'm guessing it's just a buffering issue, and I did read somewhere that YTTV will forego thumbnail views to conserve bandwidth. I don't believe we have any user control over when YTTV serves up thumbnails and when they don't.

Get an antenna like this one I bought. Then you'll get all the local affiliates for free for rest of your life in full HD and with less of a video delay than cable/satellite/or any streaming service.

All the streaming services have problems with local affiliates in some way or another. It's hard to get the rights for the thousands of different stations across the country.

As someone had suggested, use one of these. As long as you have a power socket nearby you can hardwire anything that has an ethernet port. You could try this USB cable that is suppose to be able to power a Roku through your tv USB port. I haven't tried it though and you will have to sit through the boot up process everytime

>eed these locals in Chicago. Channel 9 is WGN, one of the biggest local stations in the US, previously owned by Tribune and now Nexstar.

I use one of these bad boys hooked up to an antennae. https://www.amazon.com/SiliconDust-HDHomeRun-CONNECT-broadcast-2-Tuner/dp/B00GY0UB54

Allows your phone, DNLA devices etc. to access the tuners over the network. It's actually so integrated into the Sony Bravia that my TV acts like I plugged the antennae right into my television even though it's just a box on the network.

I used it mainly for cubs games on WGN (and ABC used to be blacked out but the most recent year it wasn't) but now with the Cubs getting their own network (Marquee) probably won't even use it anymore. PBS is supposed to be coming to all of YTTV quite soon.

Youtube is available now: https://www.amazon.com/Google-LLC-YouTube/dp/B07T771SPH/

Btw, I'm not sure why it is going to take months for YTTV to be available. It seems strange they are moving so slow.

I use HDMI splitters to avoid HDCP issues. When I had DirecTV I used this splitter to send HDMI to my Slingbox. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004F9LVXC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_TjGLAb9ZXSA2M

Here's your fix - and I'm being 100 percent serious. It has completely removed my frustration when using YTTV on ATV. Having tactile directional buttons is such an improvement from that stupid trackpad, or whatever it's called. No, the old remote doesn't support volume control, but since I rarely need to change the volume once I'm watching, that doesn't bother me. Give it a shot. (EDIT: It also requires line of sight and doesn't use Siri, or any voice commands.)

I'm not on there right now, but have never had issues on it. Started YTTV last fall & never had anything like you're describing.

The only way I've been able to do this is with a PIP injector box, which takes two HDMI sources and merges them before sending to your TV. Obviously, this only works with external sources. You can't mix it with an onboard streaming app (like Roku built into a TCL TV).

The model I bought has no remote, making it even more frustrating to use. But I believe they make a model with a remote, for alot more $$.
