TOOTHBRUSH

This is the electric toothbrush I use and recommend: Sonicare Flex Care Plus. It is cheapest at Costco but comes in a pack of 2. It's important to replace the brush head every 3-4 months. Sonicare now has a subscription service to automatically send you a new brush head when it's time to replace, or you can buy the brush heads when you need them; they come out to approx $9 each on amazon but you can get 6 for $50 at Costco and they oftentimes have a $10 instant rebate. If you need to use a manual toothbrush, I recommend the Nimbus manual toothbrush. These Wisps are really handy when you can't brush after eating.

FLOSS

The floss I recommend is Dr. Tung's Smart Floss and you can use this  Floss Holder to make it easier to use. (Amazon only sells the floss in packs of 3 or 6 so if you want to purchase a single pack you can find it at Whole Foods, Bristol Farms, or Sprouts.) A Waterpik can also be a great tool, this one is a Handheld Waterpik and is more convenient to use. You can use it in the shower and it takes up less counter space.

TOOTHPASTE/MOUTHWASH

This Crest Gum and Sensitivity  paste is one of my favorites and I like Act Total Care mouthwash. When choosing a toothpaste or mouthwash, look for "sodium fluoride" as an active ingredient.  It's best to stay away from mouthwashes with alcohol in them and whitening/charcoal pastes because the abrasives in them can damage the teeth. If you use a whitening rinse with hydrogen peroxide, only use it 2-3 times per week to avoid making the gum tissue sensitive. Other than that, whatever you prefer is just fine.

WHITENING

For an inexpensive whitening treatment Crest White Strips are a good option.

I was told I had a receding gum line and would need grafts too. I got an electric toothbrush and haven't had the problem since! An electric toothbrush is also good because it helps you brush your teeth for long enough, and it typically does a better job of brushing teeth than we might do on our own (we miss spots, brush too hard, etc).

I have an Oral B brush I really like. It came with a rechargeable base and a little clock that counts down my 2 min brush time and tells me when to switch to a different part of my mouth.

Get a small, soft round brush head; those work the best. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006ANDK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm seeing a ton of staining and some build up. You also have naturally very grooved and ridged teeth which isn't making things easier. You are also crowded, which isn't helping. Are you using a fluoride paste? Here are some suggestions: Go buy this brush and use it as directed for two minutes twice a day: https://www.amazon.com/Oral-B-FlossAction-Rechargeable-Toothbrush-Automatic/dp/B078Y357PS/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=oral%2Bb%2Bvitality&qid=1558743840&s=gateway&sr=8-3&th=1 It will also help a lot with the staining (after a professional cleaning).

Make sure you are flossing correctly. Watch some videos or ask your dentist/hygienist to show you. Same with the brush. Don't rinse with water or non-flouridated mouthwash after brushing, just spit and go. Ask your dentist of any of your teeth are candidates for sealants. You will likely pay out of pocket for that. Can't thoroughly address whether or not you have any recession without a proper exam, but from glancing at the pics, I'll say I think you are over worrying and should concentrate more on getting your teeth squeaky clean. You might want to ask about orthodontics to straighten your teeth which will also make them easier to care for.

my dental hygienist had me get this toothbrush. it's the one with the gum massage feature, and a feature to make sure you aren't pressing too hard. i was OCD toothbrusher before, this totally saves me time, and it feels amazing! actually worth the money. you have to replace the brush head every 3 months. still worth it.

u/doc_two_thirty · 1 pointr/india

this one runs on a regular aa battery, and works well. I have used it for 3-4 years.

Then there are the rechargable ones which are newer models which can be used in Indian homes too. This and this ones are the new ones. a bit pricey but excellent features. I have coupon codes for 500-1000 rs discount on these, if you want, just ask!

Does anyone know of any major differences between "Flexcare" and "Flexcare Platinum" models?

It is funny to me because two Flexcare handles come out to $160 with DiamondClean brush heads, travel cases and all the good stuff. You can get them even cheaper at Costco $120

Meanwhile the Flexcare Platinum is only 1 handle, does not come with DiamondClean brushes or UV sanitizer and all the other goodies and costs $160 for one brush.

Is handle really that different? The only difference I see is the "sensitive mode" with a pressure sensor that reduces aggressive brushing and a newer design?

Is it really worth paying for this newer Flexcare Platinum model that costs more than 2 brushes of greater value?

Am I missing something? Are there any Sonicare experts here?

What would help me with some self care would be new brush heads for mine and my husband's toothbrushes. Ours are wearing out and we do not have the funds to replace them.

u/Berry_Sauce · 1 pointr/Dentistry

Check out this seller on amazon. I have been using their off brand replacement heads since 2017 and have been very pleased with them overall!

u/false_precision · 1 pointr/PointlessStories

There are better methods!

u/trugoyo · 2 pointsr/italy

u/deadfish1989 · 8 pointsr/explainlikeimfive

Since this seems to be the right place to ask; my dentist told me that a round headed tooth brush is BETTER than the large more oval shaped ones. Does this logic make sense to anyone else?

u/sarahspins · 2 pointsr/braces

My kids like the Premium Gum Care. The bristles are soft so you’re not destroying your gums while you try to work around the brackets.

This one is better. You can pair it to your Garmin and upload to Strava.

[Toothbrush replacements] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0086VI9LC/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1L8ON2MX2QPTV&coliid=I1BWK2ZUG4NWJT). I have braces and have started down the path to a straight smile. It is an expensive and painful process when you are an adult. I am constantly having to obsess about my teeth. 6 months in and I have two more years to go. However, I can already see an improvement.

To other guys out there, get an electric toothbrush today if you don't have one. This is what my dentist recommended if you don't want to spend a ton of money. Make sure to click the $5 coupon to bring the price down to $15.

Seriously, brush your fucking teeth.

BJ's has their own brand which fit Oral B toothbrushes and I think they work just swell. They are ~$3.33 each.

Alternately there are these on Amazon which are even less but I haven't used them.

u/-runredditrun- · 10 pointsr/whatisthisthing

A clip-on cover for the head of an electric toothbrush may be plausible. But it may be anything.
