Sure thing. I checked my Amazon order history and this is the specific adapter I have been using for the last ~12 months. Only $10 now.

Edit: I looked at the reviews on that page, one guy was complaining about SATA 3 support. SATA 3 is unstable in my experience on 2008 MacBooks in any case, so I would just use a SATA 2 SSD to avoid trouble (I am using a 128GB OCZ Vertex 3 set to SATA 2 mode). Still plenty fast.

I just (this weekend) upgraded from the same 2007 MBP to a 13" i7 with an SSD and a 7200 rpm drive in the optical bay and 8GB RAM. I also upgraded a 2008 MB with a 96GB SSD recently.

  • the 5400/7200 RPM drive will be your bottleneck, especially if you start swapping, even in the old MBP
  • the SSD in the 2008 MB makes it feel fast, despite only 2GB RAM
  • anything that needs to go to the HDD on the new MBP is noticeably slower
  • I've been working in Motion, with large, uncompressed video, and the i7 is incredibly fast compared to the c2d. Projects tha took over an hour to render before are now done in 10 minutes, and I can work with full res files, instead of quarter resolution placeholders. The video is coming from the same 7200 RPM HDD from the 2007 MBP.

I used this, and it fits perfectly. The SSD is really a game changer. Even on an old MBP it will speed things up significantly, and when you upgrade, you can bring it with you.
