My one major suggestion would be to not get a table and chairs for eating. I lived in a 450~ sq ft apartment and everything became way too crowded, and that was without a table and chairs.

We ate around the coffee table, get some chairs that you can tuck away in a corner but can bring them next to the coffee table when you got some extra guests over.

Get a bookshelf to place between your bed and the "living room" this will help separate your space and make it so your bed isn't completely visible when you walk in.

not op but you can get one on amazon. this is probably the same thing: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R3MWA6K/ref=tsm_1_fb_lk

Not sure how far $2000 will get you. But you most definitely just have to paint everything white, including the kitchen because it flows into it.. the walls, the wood, everything, paint it all white. Next you have to replace the floor. I dont know what you will be able to do with the budget, but the laminate tile flooring through out is possibly the worst part. I would even just rip it up and put plywood down, then either stain it or paint it. Get rid of the clock, get rid of those weird vanity lights on the wall, get rid of the curtains and blinds. It will be hard to make this room nice on that budget, you will have to hit up kijiji/craigslist alot for stuff. Also, hit up etsy for some prints (make sure you frame them). Try and get a new sofa if you can, then also get an accent chair. Get some coffee table books, also a new coffee table. Get a simple rug to bring the place together. And get 2 stools for the counter. And lastly get some plants, if you dont want to commit to keeping them alive, get fake plants, doesnt matter. If you are in the US you can get some decent stuff off amazon.com that will make your place way better. Try things such as "george nelson slat bench (or table)... also maybe get these

and throw some sheepskin rugs on it from ikea.

I hope this helps man. The place has potential, but right now it looks like a ghetto university house. Not to sound rude.
