No problem, I love history. Its amazing how much more there is to it all than the narratives you grow up hearing. Currently I am reading A Disease in the Public Mind: A New Understanding of Why We Fought the Civil War
But if you are looking for a book to ease you into reading more history I highly recommend 33 Questions About American History You're Not Supposed to Ask Its a real easy read, every chapter can be read independently and in no specific order.
Also anything from my favorite historian Brion McClanahan is great, especially his podcast.
