Screen time in general may be discouraged, but I have no guilt, nor have I ever, for allowing my kids to watch educational/developmental programming. Bubble guppies is a learning show, and even if it isn't, it's a brightly colored show full of music, both of which help with development.

I'm sure putting a tablet in front of your kid and letting them watch mindless youtube horse shit is probably detrimental at any age.

Aside from that I was just making suggestions.

I had never heard of a mama roo until a few minutes ago when I read your comment. They are a bit expensive, but even brand new, they are now well under $250. And they apparently even have friggin bluetooth.

My wife and I have used this one:

and this one:

Both to amazing results as for rocking the baby to sleep while my wife and I got some work done or....other stuff. One for under a hundred and one for a little over. Well within "baby shower registry" standards for most folks. I highly highly highly recommend them. They worked wonderfully on two kids with COMPLETELY different temperaments, as well as several other kids I've seen who's parents own them, and pretty much every baby my wife ever babysat.

Yeah I'll give yah, some kids freak out in the jumpers. But ours grew to love it. Just took a couple of tries.

Welcome to the father's club. I'm one to. My daughter is 3 now, but I started way back when she wasn't even born.
What I did to play:

- Put the baby car seat on top of your desk, swing it, he/she will sleep, and you will play (while your wife sleeps). Usually you get 3 hours until next baby eating (this worked until 6 months). From my case the baby didn't sleep, so I played to make me stay awake, while my wife slept.

- From 6 months on the trick didn't do anymore, than it was time to improvise, here comes:

This worked until 9

- From 9 on, she started sleeping 6 hours or more, than I started waking 5 am to play until 6:30 when she woke up

I basically do work, family, sleep and play.

The 3 months league is an awesome time if you play 1:30 per day. Of course you will never complete 36/40 challenges. But that never stopped the fun.
