And also the author of one of my favorite children's books ever... A Chocolate Moose for Dinner.

Little known fact, Fred Gwynne was also a successful writer and illustrator with a clever sense of humor. My son and I love "A Chocolate Moose for Dinner."

Ah, it's "A Chocolate Moose For Dinner" by the same author! Many thanks!

Looking at the art is a trip, in my mind the paintings were nearly photo-realistic (along the lines of "Samurai Cat" by Mark Rogers)! These are so much more sketchy and cute than I remembered. Fascinating.

Also fascinating that this was written and drawn by the actor who played Herman Munster! Learning so much!

No, but it was by that author, Fred Gwynne! You helped me realize I was thinking of his other book, A Chocolate Moose for Dinner.

Thanks!

And now I remember looking at the back cover of my book, seeing the author's photo, and being like, "Man, that guy looks like Herman Munster." Just Googled his name, and he did in fact play Herman Munster on the TV show.

OP and company should read A Chocolate Moose for Dinner. Still one of my favorite children's books to this day.
