Was thinking that might be the case, they might release some new ones with the new books releasing.
The ones I did see though in Amazon for book 1 "Game of Thrones" and checking again there is a book 5 hardback which looks quite nice also. These do look like hard spined hardbacks and the covers are quite nice.
Some the other options state they are hardcovers but they don't look any different from the original paperbacks atleast in the images shown.
