These would be some genuine and thoughtful criticisms that i would want to take to heart if i was really concerned about how i handle arguments. But...

Every single one of those definitions makes absolutely, and unquestionably clear that Historical Materialism is a Marxist framework for interpreting history. Are you all lying, when you try to claim that this is a general academic tool? When you say there isn't a Marxist attempt to re-intepret history? Because it looks an awful lot like you are lying, so i can't take what you are saying seriously.

You know what it gives us? Stuff like this:

People's history of the world

People's history of the united states

Drain of wealth

This stuff is now ubiquitous in universities. Every radical leftist student activist knows that the West became rich by stealing from the rest of the world. There was a post on CVS one day ago, now apparently deleted, that asked almost this same question and got the top response from a communist that Europe stole all its wealth or something similar. I would have quoted in my original post, and i probably should have looked for a replacement, but to be honest I've seen this sentiment expressed so often on reddit i didn't think for a moment Socialists wouldn't know what i was referring to. And i don't really believe that you don't now.

I didn't come here to start a fight. I didn't start a fight with any of the responses before 100dylan99 posted - but they really were looking for a fight, and i stand by that interpretation.
