Like what was mentioned before the budget makes a huge difference, also are you up for used /refurbished ? for example around 700 USD I would recommend this Dell XPS9250 or this Acer Aspire S.

For under 500 you can check this short list or for under 300 USD

If you're interested in the Dell XPS 13, you could save a bit and get the more budget friendly Acer S13 for $670. It will be more than powerful enough for everyday tasks and for using Microsoft office / data analysis, with a skylake i5 processor, 8gb of ram and 256gb ssd.) for $670. It has identical specs to the common model of the XPS 13 with a skylake i5 processor, 8gb of ram, and 256gb ssd (You wanted 500 but you could always try to make use of an external hard drive or cloud storage. 500GB SSD's are rare, and 5400RPM HDD's are slow).

It also has an incredibly long battery life (up to 11 hours of light use), a 1080p IPS display, a backlit keyboard, and it's incredibly light at 2.9 pounds.

oh i just found out that your budget is 650 and you don't want anything used. Then you've narrowed it down for yourself, you have to get a PC since that's the only thing that works lol. Most good lenovos are above this price range tho. So consider other brands.

try something like this guy: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-LPDDR3-Windows-S5-371-52JR/dp/B01F1Z78U8/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&dpID=41JIZsIj6+L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160,160_&psc=1&refRID=6MEZH4AV66K7J0MWHS6C&linkCode=sl1&tag=triobest-20&linkId=dd79abad9f345bf9f0c782c4eeb6487d

Since you will be travelling around with it often, a 13 inches laptop would be perfect for you. This Acer Aspire S 13 would be a decent pick for you. It has a nice i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, fast 256 GB SSD and a beautiful IPS 1080P display. It also has a decent build quality, keyboard and 11 hours battery life.

Well that sucks I have a price alert on camelcamelcamel for this specifically on amazon and for some reason it didn't catch it. Doesn't even show up on their site. Does your site do email alerts?

That laptop does look tempting. I was looking at the other one for full size HDMI. Although I might just take the downsized port for the cpu upgrade. Not going to lie though still super salty I missed this.

If you wanted to spend more and get a 256GB SSD, you could consider this.

Or are you looking for something cheaper? I don't know if you'll get something with a 256GB SSD within budget, though.

Can this laptop do 4K playback? There's a 4K tv I'm looking at with hopes of using it as a temporary monitor via HDMI for movies and the like, but don't know much about i5-6200u or Intel HD 520. Chances are, it'll see very little use together as I'll probably be using one of those built-in streaming apps for the TV, but I'd like the option anyhow.

Thanks.
