To address your main concerns;

  1. The PSU you have is nearly a decade old, however it seems like at the time of release it was a fairly good unit. TweakTown gave it a 9 out of 10. If you're worried about it because of its age, you could upgrade if you needed.

  2. 2/3TB HDD's aren't that expensive, and would probably help free up a lot of space for you. Probably worth looking at; something like this or this

  3. Your monitors are definitely quite outdated, very old and with a pretty low resolution. You could replace them both with 1080p monitors, maybe these or replace both with a single 1440p monitor if you don't mind spending a little extra for far more real estate like this one

  4. Your RAM is perfectly fine, you can always add in another 1x8gb of the same stick if you feel like 8gb is holding you back.

    Everything else looks perfectly fine

This monitor is the one I'm using right now. It's beautiful and I highly recommend it. It's the perfect size too, and has fast response time, along with brilliant picture quality.

I apologize for the potato quality phone camera. Build breakdown is as follows:

u/AgeofEmpiresIII · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Hi,

I recently bought a Zotac GTX 1070 Amp! edition GPU.

I currently have an 1080p 60 Hz monitor. This one:

[Acer G236HL Bbd 23-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0098Y77U0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

This monitor has DVI and VGA ports.

I'm planning to wait for some more days before getting a new 1080p 144 Hz monitor.

I have two questions:

  1. With my current 1080p 60 Hz monitor, what port should I use on the Zotac GTX 1070 Amp! edition GPU?
  2. When I get a new 1080p 144 Hz monitor, what port should I use?

    Thanks in advance!

Wake on lan is disabled in BIOS. This may sound silly, but is it possible that it will restart if I hit power down then instantly turn off my monitor?

I have this monitor btw.

u/MeGustaPapayas · 1 pointr/buildapc

I need some monitor recommendations.
I'm looking for something ~23" and $100
Something like this

u/NewAgePhantom · 1 pointr/buildapc

>This is completely up to you, but you are missing a cpu cooler. this is not exactly necessary, but will keep your cpu running at a better performance range than without one.

Only difference is noise reduced. There are no actual speed increases gained from a better cooler ಠ_ಠ

>you will be more than okay running those games above

You could do it for $90 instead though.

>you can probably get a cheaper monitor from hp, but everything else looks good

Or a far better one for the same price

u/sweetnekojen · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

well for starters you can usually get a 23" monitor from amazon, acer has one on sale for $109 right now, they generally are on sale if you watch amazon/new egg/ bestbuy. Same thing for your hardrive, you can generally get a tera for around the same price if you watch the sales. Totally subscribe to new egg's email list (if you havnt) they have had some fun sales over the past few weeks. Are you building this all at once or several at a time? Are you partial to your case, or was that just one in general that you liked?I saw you had a fan on your list this case has 3 fans and is on sale pretty frequently. I have this one and can tell you it handles well to lan travel and honestly I have more ports and expansion slots than I know what to do with.

I would go with the one I shared above , it's a lot better for only $20 extra dollars which is so worth .

u/thekillercrusader · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Well hang on. If you're on a budget, I could find you a good cheap 1080p monitor for less. Will edit this momentarily.

Edit: Here is a decent 1080p monitor for just 120 pounds. 1080p monitors around 100 pounds aren't hard to find, but they may not be as great as some other more expensive displays. But if you're on a tight budget they're really good.

u/kunmeh13 · 1 pointr/buildapc

anything would work fine

i've been using two of these for the past couple years

u/MadmanEpic · 1 pointr/gaming

That's not at all what I'm even saying.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that you didn't even read that last comment, because this argument is what I spend that entire time talking about. The point was that even standard displays can benefit from FOV sliders. I use a completely average in every way 1080p 60Hz Acer monitor. It is normal in pretty much every way, and I still use FOV sliders. It is, and I can not stress this enough, not a nonstandard display, and that doesn't matter. What does matter is how far away you are from your display and its size. The idea that every game should have the same FOV because every console has the same hardware makes no sense because everybody doesn't have the same TV and aren't the same distance from said TV, and to think otherwise is frankly absurd.

Now, addressing the second part of that rant, the easiest way to say it would be "that's not how that works," but going further into detail is probably a good idea. When you are sitting far away from your screen, a low FOV can be fine, but when you're close, that same FOV can appear zoomed. In your example, you say that increasing FOV can make a circle not look like a circle because you're "cramming like 2200 pixels worth of horizontal graphics into 1920 pixels." That is not what FOV really ends up doing. If you are sitting far away from a TV, lets say the screen takes up 70 degrees of your ~170 degrees of vision. Naturally, you'd want the FOV to be 70 so that when you look at it from where you sit, the game screen has a similar field of view as though you were looking through a hole of that size, increasing immersion. So, naturally, if you're closer, the field of view should be higher to accommodate the amount of your own vision it is taking up, so lets say 105 degrees for a close TV. The game should be at 105 degrees as well then, so a similar effect is achieved. However, if you look at the far-away TV up close, it looks distorted (zoomed in), and if you go far away from the 105-degree screen, it'll also look distorted (fisheye). However, it still looks natural from where you'd be sitting in practice, so when you're playing, you don't really notice much if the game's FOV is where it should be.

Added some case fans and made it with the theme of a blue color cause i have a lot of time on my hands. Any 1080p monitor should do fine like this one, or a cheaper one like [this]
(http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0098Y77U0/?tag=pcpapi-20), the biggest difference between these two monitors is the screen size. What do you think?

I don't know if you had to have it 21" but This is pretty well reviewed, recommended by Linus of Linustechtips and a little over budget but has two HDMI inputs

u/hgpot · 1 pointr/pcgaming

Well I would just go across the board on the Enthusiast row and maybe change the video card to a 680 instead of 2x 660 ti. That $1722 doesn't include a monitor which it looks like you need, I'd go with 1-3 of these depending on how much room you have. I have smaller (20") versions of them, because my GPU can't handle 3x 1080p like a 680 would.

u/Unholybeef · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

http://www.amazon.com/Acer-G236HL-Bbd-23-Inch-LED-Lit/dp/B0098Y77U0 and supports DVI. Trust me, you don't want a VGA converter. Seems I linked the 23" version. Just click the 21.5" version as that was the one I was going for.

u/agentsmith907 · 1 pointr/suggestapc

I wouldn't recommend it, I mean it's an OK PC, but you get what you pay for.

I'd rather go with something like these

[Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF Desktop PC - Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz 4GB 250GB DVDRW Windows 7 Pro Certified Refurbished $260] (https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Optiplex-7010-SFF-Desktop/dp/B013RG6DE0/ref=sr_1_30?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466483129&sr=1-30&keywords=i5+desktop)

along with this monitor

[Acer G236HL Bbd 23] (https://www.amazon.com/Acer-G236HL-Bbd-23-Inch-LED-Lit/dp/B0098Y77U0/ref=pd_sim_147_4?ie=UTF8&dpID=41fIZuc46FL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&psc=1&refRID=G87PK1HGQSZXQYXHRPH6)

I can make some other recommendations if you like too.

u/Fanguru · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

I have an ethernet typically as it'll always be wired so I doubt I need wifi, bluetooth is optional as I very rarely use it, only my laptop (for bluetooth keyboard compatibility as I like to watch movies with an hdmi / wireless keyboard set up on the TV)

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-G236HL-Bbd-23-Inch-LED-Lit/dp/B0098Y77U0 is my current monitor, probably a bit older now but i've not had a single issue with this so far in the 2 years I've had it
