You should seriously consider the Acer Predator 15 G9-591-70VM gaming laptop. It will do an excellent job for you and is right within your budget. Why this laptop ? It has tremendous power as most gaming laptop in it's budget have, but with a nice battery life, excellent build quality , great keyboard and of course, wonderful screen quality and cooling system, it stands out very well.

It's power... This laptop will do a brilliant job in the games you mentioned - giving you great settings with very good frame rates. It sports a powerful quad core i7 6th generation processor along with 16 GB RAM and a brilliant GTX 970 graphics card. It also has a good storage with a 1 TB HDD and along with a 128GB Solid-State Drive which will provide that extra speed all gamers crave.

Id say look into the [Acer Predator 15] ( https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Gaming-GTX970M-G9-591-70VM/dp/B0161CFBEU) althought it is a bit over the budget

The Razer Blade Steath is another option, havent heard much about it, but seems like a good choice

The Acer Predator 15 G9-591-70VM 15.6-inch Full HD Gaming Notebook would be perfect for you in that budget. It has the very powerful Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad core processor along with a massive 16 GB memory and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M with 3GB GDDR5 graphics card. It also has decent screen resolution and for storage - a lot of speed and space with a 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive and a 128GB Solid-State Drive. It also has a decent battery life and very good cooling system. All together , this laptop is brilliant, it will run the latest games mostly on ultra setting and with it's brilliant graphics card, processor and memory, will do very well in editing. I should also say that it has a very durable build quality and the 15.6 inches screen would be good for a person who travels a lot as it is not too big.

I ended up going with this:
Acer Predator 15
Same price as the base NP8657-S. Has a smaller SSD but everything else is the same or better. IPS screen, Killer wireless, DVD drive, plus free 2 day shipping all included. I ended up saving $320 for what it would of cost to configure NP8657-S the same and with their crazy shipping costs.

Here you go lad. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-G9-591-70VM-15-6-inch-i7-6700HQ/dp/B0161CFBEU/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1459057663&sr=1-5&refinements=p_n_feature_seven_browse-bin%3A3012497011%2Cp_36%3A-150000

You get 16GB DDR4, Intel Core i7-6700HQ, 970m 3GB, SSD, 1TB HDD

This laptop laughs at the other choices, and is the best you will get spec wise for 1500$

Amazon should ship to Canada correct?

Try this: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-G9-591-70VM-15-6-inch-i7-6700HQ/dp/B0161CFBEU/ref=sr_1_20?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466030501&sr=1-20&keywords=gaming+laptop&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A2423841011%2Cp_n_operating_system_browse-bin%3A12035945011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2289793011%7C2289792011%2Cp_72%3A1248879011

Very similar to the one in my other reply except it has a small solid state and a large hard drive. Basically you put anything you want to go fast (main games) on the solid and the rest on the hard drive.

I looked at some of those MSI laptops. They seem to pack a punch for what components are inside. I have been eyeing the Acer predator. What do you think? http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-G9-591-70VM-15-6-inch-i7-6700HQ/dp/B0161CFBEU/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1457367650&sr=1-2&keywords=acer+predator

I would check this photo editing laptops buy guide then I would suggest you get the GIGABYTE P57W-SL3 since it comes with 7.3" FHD IPS NVIDIA GTX970M Skylake i7-6700HQ 16GB RAM 256GB SSD 1TB HDD Windows 10, but if you mind the screen size (you shouldn't it is better for photo editing from my point of view) then you can check this Acer Predator 15 G9-591-70VM it is the same specs without the SSD for almost the same price but it is with 15.6
