I would recommend this Acer Swift 3 because it comes with the following :

  • NVIDIA MX150 which is one of the best for this range but still not great for newer games Benchmark(use the same website to check the benchmarks of the other GPU from the right hand list) and it will run your games decently.

  • The casing made of brushed aluminum and looks very premium so it's durable like you want.

  • It weighs 3.75 lbs which is light like you want.

  • The keyboard is a chiclet keyboard, typing on it feels spongy, but you get used to it quickly.

  • Drag and drop sometimes doesn't work as intended, but that is easily fixed with software.

  • Screen is glossy Full HD IPS, with very good viewing angles, the screen flickers at 200 Hz in a brightness level of 20%. if you have sensitive eyes might find this unpleasant (or you can get a headache if you are really sensitive).

  • The main (and maybe only) con about this laptop is how dim the screen can get, it is not usable in direct sunlight, and the coverage of colors is average (39% RGB and 61% sRGB).

  • Has very good heat management, and it doesn't throttle.

  • Speakers provide very clear sounds, and the maximum volume is pretty loud.


  • Battery life is very good at around 9-11 hours of usage on light to medium usage.

Hi, I think the two best possible options for you would be the Acer Swift 3 and the ASUS Zenbook UX331FN, both of which have dedicated MX150 graphics card and a weight under 3lbs.

    The swift 3 is built with an aluminum chassis and is very lightweight making it very portable and reliable. Its battery life when using it casually is around 11 hrs so you don't have to take your charger to school every day. It has a decent amount of RAM and a quad-core CPU which makes it great at multitasking and programming will not be an issue for this system either. Its MX150 GPU will be able to manage WoW and other nonintense games fairly well
